Tayloring, selling stuff and writing news works without clothes, so it should be possible to influence public opinion, and make money. Defeating the CCS should however be tricky without armour.

This algorith should work:
* Train persuation as usual, but be prepared, to run away quickly
* Recruit some people at the vegan coop, or the homeless shelter
* Sell everybody's clothes
* Use the money, to start a tayloring industry (start with toga)
* buy a printing press and publish the Liberal Guardian
* juice up to 50 by (carefully) spraying grafitty in side mode (the spraycan is not considered threatening, and won't cause a liberal-weapon alarm, so you get only the usual looks from nudity)
* recruit more people, and repeat

What is not possible while beeing naked :
* Legal fundraising
* Renting a room
* Buying weapons from Gangmenbers and Mercenaries
* Robbing the Bank
* Sneaking into a building with disguise or stealth
* Concealed carriage of weapons (=You cause a scare with pistols and knives)
* Getting past the bouncers or the checkpoint

What IS possible while beeing naked :
* Community service
* Illegal fundraising (There is no penalty for naked drug dealing and prostitution)
* Activism (You should bring however a weapon)
* Trading at shop sites
* Recruiting people
* Seducing people
* Kidnapping people (you need a weapon, however)
* Tayloring clothes
* Writing Articles
* Studying at the university
* Teaching skills
* Upgrading a Safehouse
* carrying a spraycan

Problems with the ways to defeat the CCS:
* raiding their sites -> dangerous without armour, however, very good dodge skill (study gymnastics) can substitute for armour
* Hacking the CIA mainframe for the backers list -> hard without disguise.
* Recruiting a CCS lieutnant, and let him send the backers list -> hard without a disguise

Note, also that Dogs and Monsters don't get a penalty for beeing naked, they can do almost everything that clothed humans can. To recruit them, you need somebody with 15 Heart to make them liberal, and someone to recruit them.
Monsters are found at the Geneticts Lab, and Dogs at the Army base, CEO Castle and CIA Headquarter. Hippies may come with 15 heart, so you can get monsters and dogs as your second recruit, if you get a hippie with 15 heart first.

There is a file calles INIT.TXT in the directory of LCS. Open it with an editor, and change pagekeys = brackets to pagekeys = page or follow the intruction in that file, if something changed. Then, PAGE_UP/DOWN should work in place of [].

I am not sure, that you mean with #, but if the game tells you to "press" #, to view a liberal, you should instead press the number (1-6) of that member. If that dowsn't work, check, if NUMLOCK is on and CAPSLOCK is off, as LCS uses console input, instead of reading scancodes directly.

There is no way, to select a save, as the game has permadeath, and you can't play multiple games at once. It is however possilbe, to manually switch saves, by copying or renaming the the SAVE.DAT file.
If you really wan't to play several games interchangingly (or with multiple user accounts), you can write *.BAT files, to copy the right SAVE.DAT in, then start the game, and copy it out afterward.

  • Would "Einsatzgruppen" be better than SS?
  • If you want to play the Nazi angle, then using the gas chamber as C+ execution method would be better.

Good to see a foreign translation!

*Einsatzgruppe "Mission Squad" can have many meanings, like simply a longer word for squad, a SWAT-Team, or a navy Squadron or simply any mlitary unit so it is not obvious enough. (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einsatzgruppe)
* As I wrote, Gas chamber IS used at C+. There are just many possible execution Methods at C+ in the english Version (like playing Bay-12-Games or licking Ronald Reagans butt, and I left it that many at C+). However, amongst the silly methods, anything used by the Nazis (Gas Chamber with Zyklon-B, Gas chamber with Carbonmonooxid, Lethal injection, Experiments with freezing or sewing together, or testing Sarin) is used too. What is just funny, is that modern USA only uses executions methods like gas chamber or lethal injection, that the rest of the world considers dishonourable, while normal methods like shooting, hanging and beheading are not used.

Can it be recompilated under these systems?

No currently not, as it uses direct hardware access for graphics. The idea behind using DOS was, to get a Quick-and-Dirty programme, that runs on almost every system (with or without DOSBOX). It is like Java, with the advantage of not having to use Java.

-----
Some Updates :
* Problem with lost Keystrokes fixed
* Problem with overflowing colours fixed
* To change Foreground back, use CTRL+Enter (Ascii code 10) and not SHIFT+ENTER
* As nobody but me downloaded it, it is still version 1.0
-----
I also found a way, to get good screenshots on Windows XP (as seen in the earlyer) post :
* Switch to windowed mode (ALT-ENTER) if you are using fullscreen
* Click right on the blue top bar
* Properties
* Set the font to "Lucida Console",
* now it should respect the codepage even in windowed mode, and you can make screenshots by pressing PRINT-SCREEN and pasting in MS-Paint
* Some people with Flatscreens can't change to fullscrren at all, for them changing the font may be the only way to get the right codepage. (You still may have to set the codepage with the CHCP 437 console-command)

Some Work :

*1 : DER SPIEGEL (THE MIRROR) : A Major German Weekly news magazine. It has a good reputition.
*2 : BILD-Zeitung (Picture Newspaper) : A extreme lowbrow German Tabloid. Their slogan is "Unabhängig, Überparteilich" (Indipendent and Party-neutral). I made the slogan "Unanständig, Überheblich" (Naughty, Arrogant). The Publisher is actually Axel Springer, but I called him "Axel Schweiß", a prank-name, meaning "Armpit Sweat"
* 3 : FOCUS (Focal Point): Another Major Weekly news magazine. They have an Interwiev with Helmut Markwort, their own publisher.
* 4 : BRAVO (Yeehaa): A  magazine targetet to teenage girls, that mostly deals with music and sex. Martin Goldstein, is a religious teacher, resposible for the sexual education, who uses the Nickname Dr. Sommer, appearently to hide his jewish descent.
* 5 : Frankenpost (Frankonian Mail) : A local newspaper from the town Hof. It is not actually important enough, to be here, but I added them as a joke.
* 6 : Freiheitsengel (Angel/Guardian of Liberty) : Your newspaper, the Liberal Guardian. I invented a mascot for the Liberal Guardian, a guardian Angel with a blood covered sword and a green shield. "Nichts als die Wahrheit" (nothing but the truth) is the titile of the biography of Dieter Bohlen.

This is a programme to edit the pictures that LCS uses for newspapers.

Here, you can Download it :
http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=11616

Screenshot:

Note, "Marsch für das Leben" is the German equivalent of "Pro Life"
(Hopefully Tinypic doesn't mind the crooked cross ...)

Systems :
* DOS (MS,GNU,...) - run it directly
* DOS based Windows (95,98) - run it directly
* Windows XP - run it directly, thought DOSBOX is better. To get the right Codepage, use fullscreen
* Windows NT (Vita,7,8,...) - use DOSBOX
* Linux - use DOSBOX

Loading a file:
You can give a file as command line parameter, or simply run it and use the - extremely user friendly - file-browser.

Editing :
Pressing a key, that is not a special Key, will write it at the cursor.
Arrows : move cursor
Page Up/Down : change Page
Enter/CTRL+Enter : Change foreground colour
Tab/Backspace : Change Background colour
ESC : Quit. You are asked, if you want to save. Press 'J' or 'Y' to save, 'N' to quit or other keys to abort quitting.

The source-code is included in the ZIP file. It is considered public domain, and was compiled using Borland's Turbo-C.

Life Advice / Re: Cleaning a really nasty old oven
« on: January 04, 2016, 02:48:05 pm »
I am pretty sure, that baking "soda" is in fact Natron (Natriumhydrogencarbonat, NaHCO3), which is not a lye as opposed to washing soda (Natriumcarbonat,Na2CO3), which is a lye.

Steel wool is already a good thing. Maybe first scrubbing it with dry steel wool, and then with wet one. Some time ago I used to buy damaged microwave ovens on Ebay, repair them and resell them. Steel wool worked well to clean, but you have to scrub very hard.

If you need lye, easy availible lyes are :
* Soda (Na2CO3) : availible as cleaning agent in drug stores (Schlecker ...). It is a lye, despite looking like neutral, because Natrium is very powerfull lye and carbonic acid a weak acid.
* Caustic Soda (NaOH) : Availible as Photo-developer at some chemists or photo labs.

Theese are probably bad choices, but for completeness :
* Pipe cleaner : A mix of Caustic Soda (NaOH), Saltpeter (KNO3) and Aluminium. When mixed with water it starts to boil and becomes higly caustic (both alcalic and oxidating). You may have to verify your age, to buy it, and you should wear protection googles while using it.
* Amonia (NH3) : Alcalic gas available disolved in water at some office shops for making blueprints (rare nowadays). Its is caustic to respiratory organs, so be carefull not to breath it in high concentrations.
* Potash (K2CO3) : A weak lye like soda. I don't know there to buy it, but you could make it yourself, if you have an open fire place or other sources of ash.
* Lime ( Ca(OH)2 or CaO) : Availible at the contruction shop (for mortar). Strong lye, thought you should wash it away before it sets. Here, you should also wear protections googles. And make sure, that you actually buy pure lime, and not mortar or cement.

If you can legally buy it, a very powerfully cleaning agent is also Hydrogenperoxid (H2O2). It easily dissolves rancid fat. Make sure, that you don't mix it with acid (vinegar), as a mix of oxidizers and acid is very corrosive to metal. Here in Germany, it is no longer availible, because of all the anti-terrorist laws, but I think in Czechia laws are more liberal with that things. You need a high concentration (~40%), so hair dye is not sufficient.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Smoking weed

Real talk, I bet Toady smokes a joint ever now and again. I mean really, he's a mathematician for christ's sake.

In Liberal Crime Squad, mathematicians are possible encounters at the crack house, maybe there is a deeper meaning behind this...

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Digging up the blue stuff.
« on: December 23, 2015, 04:26:12 pm »
There is a much better aproach than just digging in and let them out (By the way, generating [clowns] without releasing them causes a significant FPS drop) :

Each layer of an [candy] vein, consists of a central 4x4 block and some random tiles. This 4x4 Block may or may not be hollowed. If you only dig into tiles which can't be the 4x4 block you are safe, and won't even generate [clowns].

Example:
Code: [Select]
.aa.aa...
aaAAAA...
..A??A..a
aaA??Aaaa
..AAAAa..
..aaa.a..
aaaa.aa..

.= Rock
a= [Candy] save to be mined
A= [Candy] NOT save
?= [CAndy] or [HFS]

For every layer, dig away the sourounding rock. Then check, if a front of [candy] is 4 tiles or larger. If not, you can dig into it. With this method, it is possible to get all, but the central colum out of most layers. Only sometimes, it is not possible to continue, for example if you find a 5x5 block there is no way (exept rock radar) to know, there it is hollowed, so leave it.

If you see such a front ...
Code: [Select]
..aa..a..it is save to dig the three tiles out.

If you see such a front ...
Code: [Select]
..aaaaa.....it is not save.

EDIT: OK PatrickLundell sayed everything while I typed...

Life Advice / Re: Struggling with game project
« on: December 16, 2015, 03:54:13 pm »
OK, I did some research :
* Poland uses the European PEGI rating for video games. Compared to the German FSK, vendors can still sell it to children who are too young, but the rating seems to be mandatory (what is a problem), as opposed to FSK there FSK18 is equal to unrated. There is no information about the treatment of unrated things.
* There is no whitelist for board-games, so this should be possible without problems. You might still need a EAN number for big vendors, but EAN numbers are much cheaper than rating. Selling it yourself or over geeky shopkeepers who sell dungeons and dragons equipment should even be possible without an EAN number.

As you want to found an own corporation, with you as the boss, it is important to handle the burocracy :

* Check, if you need some formal education for making a game. For every Job there is a formal education, and without it you get into trouble with guilds and consumerists. In the worst case, you can't do it at all, and otherwise, you must have to pay somebody with formal education to check your work, and confirm, that it reaches all standarts (and there are many standarts :-)). I am not sure, if there are any proper jobs related to making a game, but there are definitly some consumerist laws, that demand some things like recycling paper or non "toxic" hippie-paint to be used, or consumerist manuals telling consumers not to swallow plastic figurines and you may need proper craftsmen to verify that all.
* Games, whether video or board are toys, and toys must be censored. You might think now, there is nothing hot with your game, but the problems is not the censorship itself, the problem is the cost for the censorship. To be able to sell the game to children, you have to pay several thousand euros, to have it censored, and if it is not censored, vendors must verify the age of everybody, who tries buying, that is too much efford for most. Any non-censored media is treated like films like "the 120 days of Sodom" or "Cannibal holocaust", no matter how harmless it is.
* Interlectual property is a harsh bitch, especially if TTIP comes. If your small business does publish anything, expect to get sued by some mega-corporation or rogue lawyer for copyright infridgement. It doesn't matter, if you commited it or not (probably not), but the problem is, that they have more money for a court case, and you might have to surrender, because you cannot pay the ongoing lawsuit anymore even if the law is on your side. In such situations, the police might help you, but that doesn't work always.

In general, you are legally on thin ice, if you found a business or publish anything as a layman. The glory days there iron-hard assembler programmers made videogames as lone wolves are over, and the whole business is now in the hands of mega-corporations doing alienated work.
