That would probably be slower than running a fort at 100 fps. Sleeping may give you a similar speed. My advice would be either to see whether dfhack can do it somehow or run a 1x1 fort on a glacier with the fps cap removed and a strict pop cap of 1.

Tbh, this is probably unrealistic. You can blend sponges and they will reconstitute themselves over time, assuming there are still enough cells intact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N462jZFr13k

You could get cursed before retiring, so they are  night creature megabeasts who will move into a lair,iirc.

Anyone have any idea whether a minotaur bitten by a werebeast can become a werebeast itself? If no-one knows, I will have to find out the fun way. I wonder what a half-bull, quarter dwarf, quarter tortoise would look like.

IIRC, Demons tend to stray a little way from your fort after abandonment. (Not sure whether that was DF 2012.) I remember my adventurer being ambushed by demons near the ruins.

I once considered building a network of small shotguns, but having a large underground track servicing many barrels is something I never considered. As it is, once I have mended Windows and got back to playing DF, I plan to use minecarts in a rather different perimeter defence network.
