Masterwork DF / Slightly frustrated - Choosing Race on Embark
« on: April 03, 2015, 11:40:08 am »
I'm new to masterwork.  I got into dwarf fortress while it was far underway and it's taking me a while to catch up to all you Dwarven Nobles.  Right now I'm taking advantage of the new Masterwork.  When I'm choosing my civilization I want to know which race I'm starting with.  I noticed the tiles change as I scroll through them but other than making assumptions by reading the names it's usually a shot in the dark.  Is there a better way to choose race?

thanks,
crustie

whats with humans and nobles?

Kobolds were active by default when I checked, maybe that's why you don't get picks. I haven't checked them out yet though so it's a guess.

you're right.  right now I'm not able to assign nobles.  When I go to the menu nothing shows up.  I'm still new with masterwork.

I didn't see PEAT but I did get
Code: [Select]
Impoverished Word Selector

whenever I try to embark with this version I can never seem to start with picks or metal bars to make picks.  I did two world gens, same problem.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / preparations
« on: December 31, 2014, 02:28:38 pm »
What are your favorite preparations.  I'm never sure what first skills I should give my dwarves.  They all end up learning something new.  Also, I tend to keep the items I leave with at a minimum.  Only what I need then I just build everything else there.  4 hens and a rooster, dogs, cats.  That's about it.  Are there any specialized set ups?

thanks.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Efficiency
« on: December 29, 2014, 03:27:05 pm »
Hello,

I'm still fairly new to this game.  I have a habit of trying out new things so I'm constantly leaving fortresses to ruin just to start a new one to try something different.  Right now I'm looking for the most efficient way to run and manage workshops and stockpiles.  Right now I have a stockpile level above  my work shops then below that I have living quarters hospital and dining room then below that I repeat and mine veins.

If anyone has a some efficiency tips they would be greatly appreciated.  Layouts and screenshots would be cool too.

Thanks,

  XAN

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: autolabor
« on: December 28, 2014, 02:45:14 pm »
I agree.  Since I posted this I've had mor experience.  I prefer the DFHack labor asign screen to therapist but as I get 25 to 30 dwarves it's hard to keep things running smoothly.  I do at times restart the game without it in search of more control.  It's a nice feature.
