Otik falls silent. No amount of screaming, weeping, or pleading could bridge the veil that separated her form her daughter. She couldn't give Friesden the sign she needed no matter how desperately she tried. At Friesden's final words, she sinks to her knees, weeping. She had failed.

Otik's words soon give way to hiccuping sobs. She clings to Falcata, weeping into her mane.

Slowly, steadily, Starkey composes himself. His friends, his family need him. He straightens.

"T-Thank you, all of you..."

Starkey pulls Friesden and Heiro to him, clutching them to his chest.

"M-My brave, strong little ponies... I love you both so much..."

'I promise I'll protect them, my love. I'll never let anything happen to them... I swear it.'

"N-No... no... no, no no no nonono..."

Otik collapses to the ground, endlessly repeating that single syllable.

Starkey is mostly silent now, only the occasional sob escaping his lips. He still holds on to Friesden, now gently stroking her mane. He does not answer Charity.

She buries her face in Falcata's mane.

The scream reaches Otik's ears. She turns to see Falcata slowly drifting up towards the cavern ceiling.

"Falcata!"

She half-gallops, half-flies to where her corpse lays, and leaps up, trying to grasp her flailing legs.

"N-No, not you too! Don' go, Falcata, fight it!"
