I'll do my best.
Come to think of it, that gives me an idea. I'll have to go pester Alan about it first, but this sounds promising...

That wouldn't bother me.
In that case, I'll start mucking about with the raws tonight. Which would you like to see? Kobolds? Humans? something else?

Start one, Imp, and see if anyone joins.
I would, but I'm not that good at documenting it. If I were to do it, updates would be rather erratic. Would that bother you too much? If not, then I may consider it.
So wait, are these civ names fixed, or were they randomized?

I wonder if there's actually set code that caused this children-flocking behavior to the bedridden dwarf, or if it's happenstance? Part of the reason DF is so awesome is because of emergent behavior: through a series of systems and rules, unexpected but coherent patterns begin to emerge. With the emphasis on inventing a story based on the events in the game, that only improves and enhances the emergent behavior. It's often impossible to tell the difference between what Toady intended and simple coincidence, and that's awesome.
If ever there was such a thing as a programming polymath, then Toady is one of them.

EDIT: just checked, he still has one arm, but no hand.

Let's try something of a different genre..."Engraved on the wall is a picture of a flying machine, flying machines, humans, elves, dwarves, a human, and orcs. The orcs are in the flying machines. The humans, elves, dwarves, and the human are on the flying machine. The orcs are striking down the flying machine. The humans, elves, and dwarves are dying. The human survives."

will give you all a hint since in my oppinion it is quite hard, although it will all make sense if you remember the game
