Nice, I like my spells. Can I attack during Fractal Tentacles?
Not normally, no. You can't wield anything or use your tentacles until you end the spell.

...an enemy wouldn't need its defense to be bumped up by 5, since a -5 malus when acting has been replaced with a +5 bonus when going defense mode.
On the contrary, regarding the defence buff from defence mode, in order for them to get that defence buff to bring them to what would have been equivalent defence against attacks, they would have to refrain from attacking. As a result, unless you increased their defence by 5, they would never be able to attack if they wanted to have the same effective defence as under the original rules.
I'm too tired to think abut this right now. Will reply tomorrow.

Everyone: I think I'll be able to start the game tomorrow. Maybe not, depending on how long it takes for me to MS Paint it. Probably tomorrow, though.

I finally finished the 4 main characters. I'm in such a good mood.

SPELL (Earth & Box)
Something involving burying things alive or entrapment them in Large Stone Boxes perhaps?
SPELL (Drunken & Desert)
...Nothing comes to mind, I don't envy your thinking something up for this one.
ENRICH (Criminal & Sun)
Something relating to Prometheus, the guy who STOLE fire from the SUN?
Or perhaps its A bonus to all things Criminal while in the Light of day?
Infinite light Stolen from everyone else?

Quote from: That thing no one could think of anything for
Brooding Surreal Vegetable
Cartoonish Emo Mini-Ent.
Thanks for the suggestions. I actually have a nice spell idea for Drunken & Desert  :)

Nice Ent character you got there...

Waitlist I guess. Is Cat in the aspects list?
Okay. "Cat" isn't on the list, but "Feline" is.

Magical Mania Siren

Nice. I compiled the completed sheets below. I uhh... made your spell before reading your backstory, so it doesn't exactly fit. If you don't like it, I'll change it. If you think it's cool, then we'll keep it.

Pavellius: Thanks for the offer for new aspects, but that's okay. I should be able to create an interesting character out of most any set of three aspects. I'm just a little disjointed at teh moment, and you have lots of interest in the game, so I don't mind stepping back for now. I'll PM you if I get a new wind and would like to be re-added, or you can pm me when my waitlist turn comes up :D

thanks!
Alright. Thanks for telling me.

Ok, so:
Essentially, it just means that an enemy that could be hit with a roll of 10 in the original rules needs to have their defence bumped up to get hit on a 15, and for dodging attacks, something that would have been dodged on a roll of 10 would now be dodged on a roll of 5 (assuming that players are doing as expected, that is, attacking with a single weapon).

Personally, I would suggest having where the bonuses and maluses go be based on what the players are expected to do "normally": most players will be attacking or casting every turn, so having the defensive stance be a bonus makes sense, but most players won't be dual-attacking (with exception of our octobro) or using improvised weapons, so it would make more sense to leave those ones as penalties off of the baseline "attacking with one weapon". I think it'll be easier to calculate and remember everything that way.
Hmm... Good effort, but I'm not going to count that as point worthy, since an enemy wouldn't need its defense to be bumped up by 5, since a -5 malus when acting has been replaced with a +5 bonus when going defense mode. There's specific circumstances where things won't work out the same as in the previous system, and that was what I was referring to.

I think your suggestion is interesting, but I find my version to be easier for me.

Spell idea: The affected person immediately abandons whatever they're doing and starts praying to some miscellaneous owl god.
Enrich idea: The leather is made from human skin and there are human bones in the shape of seashells as pauldrons. Upon seeing it, must fail a knowledge check in order to avoid SAN damage.
Thanks for the suggestion. My ideas were a bit different, so I want to know if you like them.

The Sheets

By the way, I've renamed the "Spells" section to "Spells and Artefacts", so I can include enriched items there, too. Yes, it's spelled "Artefacts", with an 'e'.

Waitlist.
Waitlist.

I don't think it's possible for me to work with either set you gave me. Can I get a reroll?

I wan't quite sure what to make of "Brooding Surreal Vegetable" either...
The new aspects are on their way!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
No complaints here. The backstory works in your Consumable aspect, so you're done for now.

Spoiler: Earth Drunken Criminal (click to show/hide)
Nice character. This is bay 12, I should have expected at least one dwarf to make its way into the party.

Anyway, here are your second aspects, in case you have suggestions: SPELL (Earth & Box) SPELL (Drunken & Desert) ENRICH (Criminal & Sun)

Nice character. SPELL (Worship & Owl) ENRICH (Shell & Parents)

Will join the waitlist
I didn't see you there. PM incoming.

EDIT2: Ok, so it's d20. Missed that part.
-7 or so? -10? What's the insta-fail point for stealth penalties?
Ummm... it depends on the situation. Usually the target number for actions won't be lower than 10, though.

I'm interested in this, PM me or what ever.
Will do.

I'll drop out so one of the waitlisters can get in. I am having a serious case of character creation block. Sorry.  As fun as this looks, just put me on the back end of the waitlist.
Alright. I hope you manage to get into the game, later!
FAKEDIT: See below

Spell 1 (Paralysis & Fantasy): No idea what fantasy could be for.  Please make this one.
Spell 2 (Tentacle & Splitting): Temporally transforms the user's tentacles into sharp and light metallic blades. Bladed tentacles count as light weapons and use magic skill for combat, but also makes the caster unable to hold anything or wield weapons during the transformation. Or something like that.
Enrichment (Tentacle & Air): Extra phantom tentacles made of air that attack enemies at random and can hold things? No idea either.

I'll have to think about the Consumable thing. Maybe Exul looks really tasty and attracts hungry monsters to his location.

Shaped like an octopus and crawls like one,  but "orc-sized" (Because he's larger than a normal octopus). Equipment restriction sounds good, maybe even forced to use only light stuff because of lack of bones and attracting monsters, in exchange of being able to equip things on his 8 tentacles and a bonus to dual attacks (Instead of a pair weapons, be able to use up to 4?). He lacks any combat skill, so this should make up for the lack of offensive power.
Your spells/enrichment look pretty tough. I'll come up with something.

You don't really have to make Consumable be part of a power, if you don't want to. You could just say in your backstory that he was going to be turned into sushi, but escaped. In order to save his brethren, he decided to go and find the Gizmo.

Okay, I think this would be a balanced form of your ability, and one that has some internal synergy, too:
-Can wield up to 8 things, excluding Medicine/Lockpicking tools (since those are automatically wielded).
-Can attack 4 times when "dual attacking".
-Can't wear armor/clothes, including gloves & shoes, but excluding most headgear.
-Can't carry things that aren't equipped or wielded.

Ok... Honestly I'm not feeling too inspired by the aspects I got. It'd be nice if you could roll some new ones, but otherwise I'll probably just let someone else take my spot.
If you want some new ones, then sure. New aspects coming up.

Ozarck: Do you want some new ones, instead?

...
:|

Hmn...

Spell 1 idea: A beam of fire, "reducing" to a point at about 5 meters away; the heat at each part of the beam is proportional to how densely it's been packed, with the point being nearly as hot as the sun itself.

Spell 2 idea: The target, faced with evidence of the divine, worries they have been insufficiently religious, and turns their prayer and worship to the most immediately available divine figure: Saraket.

Gun enrichment: The superheated bullets burn through enemies' equipment, leaving them as low-quality husks of their former selves, riddled with holes and areas weakened by heat.

EDIT: How about -3 to stealth? Or is it just perma-failure at that point?
I'm ok with perma-failure on stealth.
I like your spell and enrichment ideas. I'll definitely take them into account.

Perma-failure for stealth sounds great. I was thinking that it would be the perfect extent for a disadvantage.

Everyone: I changed a little bit of something in the rules. Instead of dodging getting a -5 penalty if you attack/cast a spell, it now gets a +5 if you take a defensive stance instead of attacking/casting a spell. Then, to even it out, attacks gets a +5 "Coordination bonus". That bonus is lost if you dual attack (instead of dual attacking giving you a -5 penalty) or if you use an improvised weapon. As you can see, this is mainly a semantics change, but it has small mechanical effects, although they're pretty insignificant. If you can find them, I'll give you a bonus point in Underwater Basket Weaving.

I understand that the healing is equivalent to bandages. :p

Maybe even in non-divine mode, Saraket gets a -1 to stealth due to the feeling of the divine permeating the space he's in.

What are the second aspects for my spells and enhancement?
That's a workable, if very minor downside, so your ability won't be that powerful.

Here are your second aspect: SPELL (Fire & Reducing) SPELL (Sacred & Worry) ENRICHMENT (Fire & Low Quality)

PTW, may make a character later
Okay!

WIP. Please give me the second aspect for my spells and the enrichment.

Consumable Tentacle Paralysis

Name:Exul Bracchium
Appearance: A large sentient octopus.
Description: Age, race, occupation, etc.
Backstory: How and why you joined the party on their quest to retrieve the Gizmo of Ultimate Goodness.
Skills:
-Magic: 5
-Evade: 1
-Stealth: 1
-Athletics: 1
-Will: 1
-Underwater Basket-Weaving: 1
Spells:
-Paralysis, ?
-Tentacle, ?
Equipment:
-A Lack of Self Preservation (Enriched: Tentacle, ?) (I assume this enriches his own body.)
-Dagger
-Blaster Pistol
-Dagger
-Bandages
-Electric Headlamp
-Steel-Toed Boots
-Cape with Custom Design (Navy blue with a wave pattern.)

Here are your second aspects: SPELL (Paralysis & Fantasy) SPELL (Tentacle & Splitting) ENRICHMENT (Tentacle & Air)
You don't have to make these yourself, though. I've got my own thoughts on what they could be. However, feel free to give your own interpretation.

Also, find a way to work "Consumable" into your character.

One more thing... how is your octopus shaped? Is it like like "octodad" style, where we'll just have it work like a normal humanoid, or are you going to be crawling along the ground in your full cephalopod glory? In the latter case, I think you should take an ability that restricts what you wear (no shoes, pants, shirt or gloves) but gives you some kind of upside (like being able to wield 8 things at once - with standard dual attack rules, of course). I dunno. Also, if your octopus isn't man-shaped, how big is it?

I want in, and DM me aspects early ahead of time so I'll have them ready when I can get in the game.

Also, if you want a gear suggestion for if you run out of ideas, may I present to you the GR2!

Spoiler: Info (click to show/hide)

Question: Do scoped weapons allow for easier aiming at a distance, as in it being easier to aim at further distances?
Yeah. I'll DM them to you.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll totally have the players come across this thing.

Scopes won't really matter at all, as far I imagine. Everything is so close quarters that using one would be impossible, and I don't feel like giving bonuses to items unless they're enriched. They'll just be a flavor thing.

Sacred Fire Educated
I can work with this. :D

Name: Saraket the Ever-Burning
Appearance: Normally, a dark-skinned human, with golden eyes and bright red hair, looking to be in his mid-twenties. Sometimes... see the ability description later.
Description: Age: Probably in his 100s by this point. Race: Demigod. Occupation: Being the fire god's right hand man, trying to get enough worship to ascend to true divinity. Hobbies: Creating fireproof books and writing materials, building engines and other such stuff, staying on top of recent scientific innovations, and running a laboratory.
Backstory Justification for Participation: Gizmo of Ultimate Goodness + Demigod = Ascendency. Of course Saraket will want it. His hopes: he'll be able to leverage his education, involvement with science, and the association between fire and early technological advancement to become the god of technology.

Skills:
Magic 5
Will 3
Evade 2
Always fails at Stealth while in divine form [spec. ability downside]

Spells:
Fire
Sacred

Equipment:
*Electric Headlamp
*Steel-Toed Boots
*Leather Armor (light armor, DR 1)
Shortsword
*Semi-Auto Rifle (enhance with Fire)
*Bandages Divine Healing Powers

Special Ability: He can shift into the form of a winged humanoid figure, made entirely out of fire (mostly normal red-yellow fire, but the hands and feet are white and there's a pair of blue spots where the eyes would be, and of course, it's always flickering, like regular fire does). While in this form, he floats midair, and is still solid enough to grab things. His magic abilities are supercharged, and he can only be damaged with magical attacks or water. However, while in this form, the sheer force of divine presence (and also the fact that he's probably the brightest thing in the room and probably all the others) make it so that it's impossible to do anything with any sort of stealth.

EDIT: Why yes, I am a god wielding a semi-automatic rifle that is a giant burning "FUCK YOU" to everything around us. I'm going to enjoy this. :))
Looking good. I just want to point out a little something: Your ability's downside shouldn't be something that only comes into play when it's activated, or else you're flatly better than your character would be without the ability. other than that, it looks fine - you can keep your ability vague if you want me to fill things in mechanically.

Oh, and one more thing: Your divine healing powers are mechanically identical to bandages, so they'll work off of the medicine skill. Just a heads up.
