Soap workshops are fine though?

Stone beds make about as much sense as wooden beds without sheets now. I'd sleep in a stone bed.

I've always thought as beds as always needing to be wooden as sort of a balance thing. You need to cut/import wood so your dwarves don't sleep on folding tables. (They're actually comfortable if you're tired enough.) But I guess if the oft suggested "beds should have sheets" could sort that out with a cloth/leather requirement instead.
For the workshops, all materials like that I think shouldn't be allowed. Or should have a penalty such as soap dissolving in water, charcoal burning faster and breaking if someone leans on it... This also applies to stuff like bridges, although the new materials would basically make them unusable or even dangerous, considering average dwarven IQ.
 
 As for everything regarding beds, I think we should be able to build them in all materials that would support the weight of a dwarf (or have unusable *-soap beds to trade to elves-*) I mean, it would be useful for noble's demands, high value rooms and just giving a more dwarven feel to the fortress.

This would require multi-tile creatures, which is a pretty massive undertaking.
Wagons are (or were) actually creatures, as there is currently (or until recently) no code for moving constructions.

I think it should only happen in specific biomes. Maybe just good biomes to make then a bit more interesting.

 How about pre made formations (turtle, späckad, Gå–På etc) or procedurally generated ones, unique to a civ and adapted to the enemies and terrain they fight in in worldgen.

A lot of foods and drinks are named after places.  DF worlds are chock full of place names.
The hamburger is a sandwich, the margarita is a drink, the berliner is a donut (sorry JFK, you sounded like an idiot in German), etc.
Just imagine the cook's pride when his invention is named after the fort (strange mood?).

The idea has been resisted on all fronts for nearly a decade.

Maybe, just maybe, an idea almost universally disliked by players and the developer shouldn't go into the game.  Just maybe?
As I said, maybe if a clever new way of implementing it is invented, then maybe it wouldn't be resisted.

The game is better off without gritty realistic pee and poop simulation.
I don’t think it’s fair to say that, as if Toady tried it and the game suffered.
  It is, however, fair to say the question has been asked, the answer is no, and these threads are pointless.
Toady said no because he didn't like it in the way he or the people who suggested it before envisioned it, but he isn't omniscient and maybe their are ways that it could be implemented that would be approved, but that no one has thought of yet, although I agree that just screaming ADD SHIT GODDAMMIT is useless.

How is that different from what we already do to legendary animal dissectors?

Why would you kill an ordinary, harmless dwarf? They can learn new skills, join the militia, or just haul.

It is different because of the additional cruelty of reading that a dwarf has "drowned in filth".
we wouldn't do it to normal dwarves, we'd do it to nobles and elves.
