DF General Discussion / Re: Any new changes since the revival of DF?
« on: February 19, 2015, 04:59:17 pm »
Dead, no not at all. Hibernating.
You know bears wake up from hibernating to sleep and dream
So it was dreaming when the small updates came. Then it awoke with hunger seeing springs life and colour.

Cool avatar dizzy.
Have a lovely time in the spring

The link is nothing to crazy. Its interesting to hear and find out that what happened to me is legit.
Link to the past
Cause back in my day Id do anything and I just ate them to get away.
They just enhanced my problems and made me look at what I was doing.
And I changed, slowly and im still changing.
Introduce yourself to my gods. Listen to the lessons they teach. Never forsake your own thoughts or religion, just let it enhance you.
A key grows in autumn. It will open the door

I took a shortcut a path that many take a life to get to.
I recommend them. Treat with respect and reverance and please don't eat to many.

thanks for letting me say my peice sorry for being a dick.
Im going quiet here unless im questioned,
Love you guys n gals

Aww shit.
I had hoped asking here would help.
Thanks pisskop
Not dwarves humans btw.
Would a natural stone room survive a drop? Or is it just how cave ins work?

Plan the attack so they are alone... its not easy. Being a vampire they are content standing in one spot with cultists friends until they get hungry.
So I have to catch him while he drinks blood to be a hero and not a killer?
Ive never seen a feeding tbh.
But them being alone means nobody will think youre a dick.
Steath them.
But have fun with it.
If its frustrating you just do another quest/train until you can easily stop it.
Use slashing weapons to open up as many veins as you can and bleed him.
Bludgeoning damage can still kill but vamps dont feel pain (or anything humanlike) and breaking bones wont make it pass out.
Try removing all the limbs, teeth, ears,... eveything that isnt a head and bisection and laugh at the cripple

Does restricting a workshop prevent haulers from moving items to stockpile from it?
I dont believe so I'll check rite now
Nope they haul it.
Haha I made the workshop restricted to a baby.

My Question: its a big one
I made 3 gabbro block rooms stacked ontop of eachother and suspended it above a volcano after I sealed a crew, food, tools, materials, pet trolls and some caged plump helmet men
I dropped it having a lever inside it so an adventurer can use it.
And it deconstructed upon hitting lava killing everyone in flaming glory.
Wtf did I F up
Please help this terranaught

DF Suggestions / Re: Civ-specific Livestock & Crops
« on: February 19, 2015, 01:37:14 pm »
Haha yes thanks for the visuals.
As far as the mammilian thing.
I read something about the bonding of mammals because of our similar development.
Being feed by the mother/mother figure directly and being born in the presence of the parents.
While reptilians are often born just with their clutch mates and dont get breast feed.
Yeah some exceptions. But it was basicly like a pack bonding thing.
We have been with dogs for as long as civilisation, dogs and fire have taken us so far.

Back to fantasy however I see it working. Still weird.
Haha I find it weird that dragons are classed as a reptilian but are warm blooded.
Like you said. Just cause it has scales or feathers doesnt make it a specific species.

DF Suggestions / Re: war boars

Guys It clearly says be respectful to the OPs suggestion.
I think its a good idea to expand the animals that can be trained for war for people who dont mod.
I can easily mod things at that level but I dont because I dont need war pigs, but if it was in the game i sure as shit would have war pigs. Bacon, milk, cheese, yoghurt, leather, tusks, curly tails and defence! Quite frankly they would out class dogs and wolves any day.
Dont knock the guy down.
His suggestion is valid as shit.
Better than the idiot who suggested crouching.
Actualy i might go mod it to compare to dogs just for the sake of legitamacy

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: DFHack script to stack coins?
« on: February 19, 2015, 12:35:45 pm »
The only use with coins is by trading them at high velocity from the ends of your finger tips to the shopkeepers head, causing a mini stroke and leading to convulsions and clear fluid pouring from the nose.

Humans raising little pygmy humans and halflings
Its weird to say that just because it has racial similaritys you would domesticate it when you need different species for the different skills they have. Like humans and canines, used for scent and hunting prowess. Chickens forced to evolve laying eggs almost every day just so we can eat, horses for speed and strength blah blah etc.
To me its silly to recruit a weaker version of a Species when we could do more of our own work ourselves better than a tiny person.
I could defo see a dwarven dog species. For dwarven needs, perhaps a mount.
Imagine an albino war mastiff with tremor sense in barding carrying a dwarf holding a hand axe.

Cause society doesnt work withot the work. Much of the work is done by animals, animals that we breed. Breed to make better at the job they do.
Hell we do it with vegitables, fruits, grains and moulds.

And back to fantasy.
Its your idea, I see no problem in it.
I just have like the species variation path instead of lizards growing lizards. (They would farm rats for rat cheese and meat)
Til quite recently humans ate alot of rats.
Now we eat holy animals.
Btw how good are burgers
And music. Music is sick

Has anybody ever seen or read 'Ender's Game'?
It's got a concept that is a bit of tangent to the conversation
It was interesting. Especialy the game the giants drink. that tripped me right out.
It didnt have enough character desctiption. The fact a maori was a tank alien fleet killer was awsome, better than temuera morrison in any light.

The time it was written and the game detail. Crazy beautiful.
Its too bad how distopian sci-fi is, because our science is inspired by it and vice versa.
Becoming an inbred monster of a future.
Yay for death. No immortal pill for this guy. Nup Im going to die in my study with a single bullet in my head after a steady decline into dementia.

*returns with an armored female dwarven corpse carried by the teeth

I have a story, it involves an event that I still ponder to this day what it was.

My semi grandad is actually just my grandmas bf but who cares about that.
At the age of... maybe 11 12 I was at the grandads fathers house, he was a ww2 navy veteran and the first time I met him, I saw a strong man in a weak body, white hair and an epic white beard, a weathered face that had seen much and had forgotten even more.
He told me to come close to him and quickly picked me up placing me on his lap and he placed his firm and almost skelletal hand on my head and tosseld my hair, asking me the basic questions "what are you going to do when your older" all that. I liked him but was intimidated by him.
He died a few years later and then the semi grandfather got the house and after a troubling time in my life I ended up living there for a bit (small beach house) I liked it. It had a homely warmth in it.
One day while playing my N64 legend of zelda majoras mask (still my favourite game, its beautifuly dark and has a great interweaving story for such a small amout of production time)
I was in the annoying sand temple, ikana i think. So while playing this and trying to remember the dungeon I was alone in the house and the doors where wide open like always so I could have easily heard footsteps.
I decided to go to clock town after derping on the temple. Probably to attack the bomb bag theif.
I felt a hand touch the top of my head from behind. Except it felt like it touched my skull, it immediatly sent shivers down my back and I got up and looked around for anyone.
I told my father about it and he heard me but kind of ignored it (not a very open man my father, he wont speak of religion or deep shizz for any matter)
Ive told people with many answers been given.
So here it is. A little story about me. Can you answer it?

Yeah im pretty new member but ive been lurking in the shadows for a while. And I got a warning for a two posts I wrote. At first they seemed docile enough, but Toady gave a warning, at first I was confused about it and couldnt find the scrubbed posts so I asked him a week later what I had said and I got told.
I really respected that and realised what I said wasnt specificly insulting, but it was contexual and got reported.
I often post sick stuff in my adventure posts, but its obviously ok for the setting and im sure if I moved the same posts somwhere else I could be reported.

Yeah Ive been banned before. In a minecraft server after the totalitarian moderater years younger than me would basicly ban people just cause. I stood up to this and after a while he got grumpy that I knew better.
Tarn wouldnt dare be immature... hes a grown human and seems troubled but is sensible
Naw thats Kurtulmaks job.

I tried resurecting him but old gods sleep deep.
Or maybe I did wake him but he erased my memory.
What was I talking about... oh an adventurer traveling
*gallops away

You guys are like Generals gathering in the masses
Dont be mean to the guy just like witches at black masses and evil minds that plot destruction.
Dont make me get the sorceror of deaths construction. We will be in the fields watching bodies burn as the war machine keeps turning,
Death and hatred to man kind, poisioning their brainwashed minds

Oh lord yeah this thread is freaking awsome.
Lets black sabbath up dwarf fortress. One war pig at a time...

Most vampires will take offense and spit in your face, the ones that hide in society btw, they are basicly supernatural politicians.

The wild ones however. Hunt freely and will attack on sight without any accusation.
My exp being a night creature hunter is to never ask or talk about it. Just observe the target, look at what they wear and who is around them. They wont sleep so if everybody in the house is sleeping and one guy has a tooth bracelet or a hair ring and isnt sleeping.. welll sheet I wonder what that its.
Plan the attack so they are alone... its not easy. Being a vampire they are content standing in one spot with cultists friends until they get hungry.

Long story short.
A vampire who attacks you would do it on sight not because you accused someone.
