"Idunna!" Shit! The girl was taking an absolute beating from the electric beings, and even as Albert gets shocked himself, he realizes he absolutely cannot let her get injured anymore. Not after he felt all that pain and disorientation from her.

He had to overcome his fear. That creeping sense of dread. The desire to end it all. His death drive.

Albert grabs his temples in sudden psychic exertion, letting that violent, angry feeling from before loose within his body, letting it seep into every part of his brain, every nook and fold - no matter how much it hurt to do so. He wouldn't be surprised if he was bleeding from the nose right now, and if he had his eyes open he'd be sure he'd be seeing the walls bleeding eyes.

And yet, he pushed. He funneled more mental energy into the feeling, letting it feast on his own fractured mind. Feeding it until it became strong, strong, strong. Just behind the point of losing control entirely.

And then, he opened his eyes.

"P-Drive! I'll crush your mind!" Albert draws on the raw psychic weight of his mind, his overbearing psyche, casting Mind Spark on one of the figures.

"... So you're saying they ARE part of the ritual?"

19
Albert kept relatively quiet during the process of the ritual. He was not someone who was particularly suited to the gathering of materials and knick knacks - he usually made do with what he was given. He kept guard at Alex for most of the time instead, the boy's breakdown still fresh in his mind, the quiet yet dignified hum of the law student's concentration only serving as a distraction to that pit of upsetting feelings that plagued Albert's intestines. Things weren't always dour, though. Ocassionally he looked out the window or made idle chatter with the other watchers.

And then suddenly there was a flash of red, and all Albert could feel was sparks.

He quickly analyzed the room, moving into a tense stance even as he instinctually belted out a hiss-like "Scheiße...!" He nearly smushes his glasses into his face in a hurried movement to adjust them in response to the sudden brightness. "These aren't part of the ritual, Alex?"

Albert could feel a deep, yawning growl at the fringes of his subconscious, a primal instinct to destroy - to end it all. He quickly shuffles it to the back of his mind. Not yet.

Well, there he was. Covered in blood and sap, struggling to support himself (though - Albert knows better than to try to help support him - even if he wants to). He steps back a little, head titled forward again. He has a gentle expression - watchful, as if he was attempting to prop the metahuman using his gaze alone (thinking about it, he could probably do that).

"What's your idea, Alex?" Mentally, he notes down that he's gonna have to have a talk with the boy later. Dude needs help.

22
Albert, for his part, doesn't drop his expression when Alex begins his anger-infused rant, though it does turn cold and hollow in an instant - tensed, as if it was being forced to stretch across his face as he - and everyone else - weathered the boy's storm.

When Alex finishes, he coughs a bit, mutters, "Nun... Scheiße." under his breath, before turning to the rest of the people in the room with a sheepish expression. "Yeah, I had a feeling this would happen too." He adjusts his glasses and reserves one last moment to let himself look sad before closing his eyes. When he opens them, his face is a mask - calm and neutral. "Don't approach him or try to talk to him for now. He's unstable, will probably resist if you try to take him somewhere. I'll try to stabilize him." He turns and stalks towards the howling student.

When he gets above Alex, he just stares, crouches down, face still impassive, and waits for the boy to notice he's there.

23
Albert watches Bernie go, lips slowly curling into another smirk, though this time it is marked with an acceptant solemnity. "That... is pretty much how I expected that to happen."

24
Albert doesn't deign to say anything, but he does turn towards Alex, inclining his head against the light so that the reflection of his glasses hides his eyes to his fellow student.

25
Albert raises a hand. 0000"Do I count as a bodyguard?"

26
Strangely, Albert's mysterious grin only seems to deepen. "I suppose that means I won't have to dry my clothes after this?"

27
"I'm certain Alex's worry, or anyone else's for that matter, wouldn't be enough to stop him. Ain't that right, champ?" He turns to his side with a nod. "And if you can't block a stream... redirect it somewhere."

28
Albert stands behind Alex, the epitome of the right hand man, the faithful companion, his level-headed Watson.

29
"To someone like you, that's its' own form of freedom."

30
Albert quickly reads over the form while mumbling to himself. "You'd think you'd be more worried about someone trying to stop you. Good thing none in our friend group tend towards the Lawful alignment," he says, before raising his chin up. Louder, and with an aside wink, "Not even our dashing law student."
