I'd rather avoid any useless costs if possible, considering I will need a lot of essence to get started with my plans. I'd prefer the grass suggestion personally, since we won't have to pay for it, and it will probably be much cheaper than an expanding planet.

"May the sun rise for the first time, whatever shape it may be. However, I must disagree with creating a toroidal planet. Such a world would not see a day-night cycle without further constructs, which goes against my plans. A simple body rotating around its axis, orbiting the sun might not seem interesting, but it follows the so-called KISS principle: Keep It Simple, Stupid. Still, as it seems you might actually create a toroidal planet despite me, I am going to make a suggestion: a smaller toroidal celestial body, riddled with holes, between the sun and the planet, set to rotate in the opposite direction of the planet. The moon would eclipse the sun at even intervals, creating a day-night cycle."

"On another note, why are you all talking in beige prose? Surely you understand that with the eternity of time we have, there is no need to contract speech unnecessarily. It would also reduce the confusion and misunderstandings I notice between some of you."

You could put moons shaped like half discs above the area you plan to inhabit. That way you will have your day/night cycle.

Lithus projects a hologram of his proposition:

Here, This is what I propose.

We were talking with simplistic concept because we were too busy arguing to invent proper speech. Now that you invented it, I suppose we can use it to communicate.

I redid the map. It's not as horrible as the last one, but it's still very backbone. I'll add more details as things progress.

I finished a very crappy barebone map. There is no details on it because I figured everyone will choose where they want geological features later. If anyone feels like making a better version, feel free. And since I'm terrible at making maps, that thing probably won't improve much.

Edit: I just thought that making it as a long strip would've been easier. I'll try to redo it that way.

Edit2: And also, I'll be able to make each potion larger, allowing to add stuff like oceans and mountains more easily.

I want room... For expansion. More worlds later. Maybe. Sun must be able to... Grow, with our help. Rest is cosmetic for me. Not worth fighting for. I proposed spiral because it works. Could be a tube. Could be anything. As long as it can be expanded later.

1131
Just for clarification, when we are talking about a spiral sun, are we talking of the model I proposed here, or are we talking of a conventional spiral?
And also, I'd like a clarification as of what the "arc" sun would look like too.

Edit: And also, I think I'll try to draw a crude map of the torus world to make it easier to determine where we are going to settle our respective species in relation to each other.

My creation will inhabit the scorched half of the world, I can imagine hundreds of ways to adapt them to this life. The torus will be big enough that there will be no need to fight for the favored territories. The temperates portions, despite being in minority in this system, will still be plentiful. I support the growing torus if this what we need for an agreement. It will need to expand in radius as well as in height to prevent it from going too close to the sun.

"The growth is slow...the change in position, minuscule...the diameter of the torus compared to the distance from the sun...is tiny...but if that is what you require, very well."
I was concerned by the potential for trouble a constant growth could cause. If the change is too small to cause any trouble, I am fine with it being as you suggested.

Life is what we choose it to be. It can live on anywhere we want. Angle can give seasons. Molten core is possible. Torus can turn around sun.

1135
I will build my torus. Too much potential to waste. I Don't know if I will help the growing world.

1136
As I mentioned earlier, my symbol could be simplified a lot, since the design I showed is much simpler that what you did.

Spiral sun, torus planet. More life. More space. More progress. We all join.

You're pretty good at animating, not sure how you do. Even my avatar, which is basically only two images was tedious for me. Maybe I put too much details in it, making it harder to edit?

Thanks!  I use GraphicsGale, which is about $20, but has a 30 day free trial.  It has onion skin (transparent frame overlay), which is immensely useful for animating.  It is very unlike photoshop/gimp, so for me there was a learning curve.  Worth it, though!

What program did you use for your avatar?  I think it's pretty neat - it seems sinister.

I was using paint.net for the actual drawing since it's free and I already had some experience with it, but I used gimp to animate it. I've moved to the free version of graphicsgale since then for my pixel art.

Hello everyone!  Nice work, all around.  Figured I should probably share my work too.

I have no idea what that means. :P

Anyways, thanks to this first orbit, I'm actually going to be able to encounter the Mun.

Thanks again for all the advice!

So your first orbit accidentally takes you to the mun? Wow. That's actually pretty awesome.
