DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Healing the wounded.
« on: October 13, 2006, 03:21:00 pm »
Back on the topic of wounds, has anyone had anyone sucsessfully recover from a red lung? I had a guy suffer what I'd assume was a pierced lung, and a broken (yellow) chest. He rested for aprox. a year, recovered from the chest wound and attempted to return to work with a pierced lung. Constantly passed out, never completed jobs.

DF Gameplay Questions / Wounded Dwarf Won't Rest
« on: June 12, 2007, 05:08:00 pm »
I've got a dwarf with a broken(yellow) shoulder running around working that doesn't seem to be generating a rest job. I figure it's because the wound was inflicted before I put down any beds, but there is a free one now. The wound doesn't seem to be hurting his productivity, but the flashing yellow cross is starting to irritate me.

Really? Just in my most recent fortress I've seen a red lung, a broken arm, and a handful of light and moderate organ wounds that will never heal as a result of training accidents.

That's dangerous, though. A low martial skill dwarf that's mighty/ultra-mighty screws up in sparring he's that much more likely to take the other guys damn arm off.

I too have a dwarf with a mangled lung walking around. I've also had a dwarf lose both eyes and go back to work. At first he was plagued with random fits of unconsciousness but eventually went fey and the resulting boost in his toughness seemed to stop him from passing out.

That seems odd, I can barely run Oblivion with most everything turned off and it takes me about 5-10 minutes to gen a word.

You've probably got me beat in the graphics card department while I've got a faster processor, or something.

*edit*

Out of curiosity I generated a new world, 7 minutes on the nose.

Fortifications can be shot through both ways, so I'm not sure why your dwarves weren't returning fire.

Seems kind of silly that they can be shot through both ways, it seems like firing through an arrow slit from a distance would be a tad on the tough side.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Glass Blocks
« on: May 23, 2007, 05:40:00 pm »
Thanks. I was actually planning to make my road out of green glass. I've set up furnaces before but never took it any further than churning out a few of each raw glass for strange moods.

I've been playing for a awhile now and it occurs to me I've never really delved into the glass industry. Are glass items (blocks in this case) made straight from sand or do I need to make raw glass first?

So if you never make coins, the book keeper never comes and the economy doesn't start?

That's the seeds. You'll have to set up a farm, plant them and then you'll get new plump helmets to eat.

Also hay welcome to DF :V

Or if you're really desperate and people are currently starving, cook some of the seeds in the kitchen till the ones you plant are ready to be harvested.

I would like to point out that we're not talking about film. Film has motion blur. Video games do not, and as a result a higher framerate is both noticeable and desirable. It is, of course, irrelevant to the coversation at hand, but I'm bored.

You can link a lever to open a cage, right? Flood then open? Though I guess if you have a ton of cages that'd take a long time.

DF Suggestions / Re: Clear area.

I have seen one recover from a red limb. Hand I think, this was several versions ago. It took something like 5 years to go yellow, and then the normal 1 year or so to heal from broken. I've got a legendary miner with a red upper leg right now that I think will pull through, it all depends on whether or not they're constantly going unconscious and getting knocked out of rest or not. He's been, "quite content" and constantly fed and watered for about 3 years now.

DF Suggestions / Injured Dwarf Announcements
« on: May 19, 2007, 10:49:00 pm »
I'd love to see whenever a dwarf is injured seriously (yellow or worse, I'd guess) that there is some message generated. It doesn't have to be specific, just something along the lines of, "so-and-so has sustained injuries."

I just panned over to my barracks to find a pool of vomit, leading me to believe someone sustained organ damage during sparring and it's a pain in the ass to go through my whole military one by one.
