Just west of the Elven forest retreat of Canyonobeyed, Nemo and his army stumbled across the lair of a beast. Naturally, he would investigate. Climbing into the small hole in the ground, Nemo discovered that it was a bust- there was no beast here. He decided to wait, hoping it would return

Six hours passed, and nothing arrived. Nemo decided to stop wasting his time and leave in pursuit of other "recruits"

Leaving the empty lair, Nemo stumbled upon a second sasquatch! Tistashen Natrispuho, while significantly smaller than the first one, would nonetheless make a powerful addition to his army. But Tistashen had already spotted them, and, seeing one of his species dead and walking terrified him into running.

Nemo sprinted after it, and, charging with his longsword, knocked into the beast and fell down himself. While on the ground, however, he quickly stabbed the beast three times in the lower body, causing it to collapse from pain. Standing up, Nemo slit the sasquatch's throat and waited for it to bleed out. After the beast stopped moving, Nemo performed his necromancy and the sasquatch rose, with three stab wounds and a slit throat.

The Zombie Army now consists of one giant black bear and two sasquatches, none of which have any serious damage.

Travelling southwards, Nemo found another beast fit for his army. Unnosnarig Vukrig Ezar, a sasquatch recruit. An incredibly muscular female sasquatch, her left eyelid was ripped out during a fight and she was ready for battles ahead. However, she hadn't noticed him yet. He quietly ran behind the creature, drew his weapons, and slit her throat from behind with his longsword. The sasquatch, angered and gouting blood from her throat, snapped around to try and punch Nemo, but he had jumped backwards immediately after his attack. She chased after him, but even after mere moments she was beginning to turn pale from severe blood loss. It was only a matter of time, thought Nemo.

And it indeed was. The sasquatch had chased him not even ten meters before collapsing from blood loss. Nemo raised his arms and performed the same gesture, and the sasquatch stood up as quickly as it fell, blood still gouting from her throat.

The Zombie Army now consists of one giant black bear with no serious damage, and one sasquatch with no serious damage.

One giant black bear is powerful, but not invincible. To conquer the world, Nemo would need more. He would travel the world, killing man and beast alike, and raising their corpses to fight for an army of death.

It was a dark night in the continent of Zûza Snûn. A young human named Nemo Athasemabe slowly approached the giant black bear Nonulitho. Sneaking up from behind, he attempted to grab the throat of the beast. The beast roared and turned to face him. Failing to choke the bear, Nemo let go and drew his weapons, an iron shield and a bronze longsword. Nemo was an adept swordsman, and the fight was easy. Multiple deep stab wounds to the bear's upper and lower body caused it to bleed out from its heart, pierced in two places. Unable to take any more, the helpless bear merely closed its eyes and let out a depressed sigh, knowing its fate was soon to be ahead. Standing over the massive corpse of his adversary, Nemo started blankly for a moment.

Then, suddenly, he raised his arms, chanting something under his breath. He began performing a strange gesture with his hands, while moving his arms in perfect sync. Nonulitho's corpse, still bleeding heavily, began to shake, and its eyes opened, completely black. The bear's middle spine was broken during the fight, but the corpse nonetheless began to stand on all four legs, as though it were never hurt. Having fought for its very life mere minutes earlier, the bear was now completely passive towards his former enemy.

Nemo grinned. The Zombie Army had risen.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your adventure?

Playing as a human adventurer in a elven civilization (which unfortunately means I have a wooden sword). There's a necromancer tower nearby, which I hope to take over and raise a zombie army to destroy the world.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Can I control my zombies as a necromancer?

I'd like to be able to tell my undead minions not to attack a living creature when I want to kill it and raise its corpse for my undead army. This is because a lot of times, my undead creatures will destroy the head or cause so much damage to the point of where I can't get any real use out of the corpse.

Is there any way I can tell my undead minions not to attack the living?

If a werebeast gets a crossbow bolt stuck in him, will the bolt remain stuck in him when he transforms back into human form?

Slight derail:

Do I need to bury/memorialize a visitor who died in my fortress?

Marines Goblins don't die. They just go to hell and regroup.

And they get turned into clowns?

An ocean wave can't cause any [serious] harm to a dwarf, right?

Always remember to save your game before you try to savescum  :(

The masterpieces were lost. That only happens when they are destroyed, not actually lost = it's somewhere, but we don't know where. So he must have been atomsmashed, as falling into a pit does NOT destroy masterpieces. (Excluding, of course, said pit being an "eerily glowing" one. HFS...)

Do you have a legendary clothier/leatherworker/dyer/weaver? Or a very skilled one, such that most of your dwarves have four masterpiece items on them?

Missing means dead. They died without any other dwarf seeing them, so their deaths were not recorded by your dwarves.

A "couple days later" - less than two weeks, no? Wait two weeks, and if the message "Urist McFisherdwarf has been missing for two weeks", that's a sign that he's dead.

1. Two of the masterworks were from a dwarf who was both a master weaponsmith and legendary armorsmith, one was from a legendary carpenter, and the other was from a legendary leatherworker.

2. So he's dead, then. I guess I'll get a slab made.

Which is why you have the entire army go out and stand upon the battlements as the caravans come in.  ;)

I always do that, imagining that the traders would be intimidated and give a better profit. Now perhaps there might be a benefit to doing that, after all!

Certainly, if Sockcheeses is a year-old outpost, with twelve inhabitants including one militiadwarf (Kogsak, the dabbling speardwarf, with a wooden stick) and the caravan with twenty guards, they should fight back, or perhaps even intimidate the broker into giving the goods back. But if there is an entire legion of steelclad champions standing before them, that same caravan will flee as fast as they can once they see they are not welcome.

To add on to this, what if there was some sort of "Power Projection" stat that worked similarly to wealth, but instead measured value by checking for number of active soldiers/mercenaries, along with their strength, training, and equipment.

Higher Power Projection, relative to the power projected by the caravan guards, makes the merchant less willing to fight back when his goods are seized.

Lower projection, again, relative to power projection from the guards, makes the merchant more willing to fight back.

So, right after the dwarven caravan leaves, I forbid the bridge used to access the depot and order the lever to be pulled. At the same time the bridge goes up, four masterpieces suddenly are lost.

A couple days later, a migrant wave arrives. I check my population, and notice that there are six dead/missing instead of the normal five.

One of my fisherdwarves are missing, he wasn't missing a few days ago.

Alternative theory:

The bridge in question is right above a four Z-level deep moat. If the bridge raised up from underneath my dwarf, and he fell into the moat, is he considered missing because nobody saw him fall?
