Actually, as far as I've seen caravan guards always change to friendly after the rest of the caravan has left the map. About the other stuff, I have no idea. Though I've had fortress dwarves start killing each other, most notably after I've executed a dwarf who was a part of an invading goblin army. So I guess there's a lot of weird loyalty stuff going on in this version.

We still haven't found out wether we can control or send our minions outside of the graveyard, correct? Let's try that with a zombie.
Order it to take a few steps into the wilderness and then return.

Oh sure, there's magma forges, magma landmines, magma trenches, magma shotguns and flooding the world with magma. Also waste disposal. But mostly wonderfully dwarfy ways to turn the stinking hippie elf tree huggers into !!xstinking hippie elf tree hugger corpsesx!!

I like to think that my green glass aquariums are actually shaped like a beer or wine bottle so dwarves can think it's a giant bottle of rum that's pickling a shark or something.

That probably explains why so many dorfs are eager to drown themselves.

If it's not booze, they why is it a liquid? Someone goofed.

To a dwarf, the three states of matter are gas, solid, and booze.
It explains everything.
So magma=booze? That DOES explain everything.

Well, he is required for a working prison.

Do you have a captain of the guard armed with a weapon other than a crossbow?
This guy hands out beatings as a form of punishment.
Obviously you might not want him to have this awesome *adamantine battle axe*, he might get a little bit carried away, you know.

on a side note: how to assign a weak ass hammer to my hammerer...i have lost 3 hammer lords to my current hammerer because he uses steel hammer
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
1. Atomsmash the duke
2. Fire the hammerer
3. Build a prison
4. Start fulfilling mandates, if the new duke has any
5. ?
6. Profit.

I guess assigning a uniform to him MIGHT work, too.

Obviously any dwarf would be honored to give the elven diplomat a drink out of this very fine lead mug, encircled with almond wood and menacing with spikes of adamantine everywhere.

How well would the skull of an elf who died of lead poisoning serve as a mug?

Windows are prone to building destruction. If you want a non-flooded fort that might be something to keep in mind.
Dwarves can't see through walls, material doesn't matter.
Why would you want them to see into the cistern anyway? Is it just fluff, you know, some sort of gigantic aquarium or do you want to be able to locate dead bodies in there?
If it's the second thing, dwarves will go "missing" after some time after they die lonely and unloved and show in the deceased units list.
You can also engrave slabs to them if they go missing.
Plus the windows look great in stonesense.
That is true, however.

can these eggs ever hatch?
Nope. Though asking the modders might be worth it.

A different question would be is there anyone who doesn't use prepared meals/battlefield junk to buy everything? Cause it seems like everyone and thier cat just uses prepared meals because they're stupidly valuable (and rendering your crafters vestigial to your workforce.)
As a matter of fact, I do usually use stone crafts. For flavor, mostly, and to keep the dwarves occupied in the phases between larger projects without drafting everyone.

They're just converting the energy from the glowing pits that keeps the HFS from collapsing under its own weight to matter.
No violation of physics involved at all.

Yes.
Heck, I'd even do it for just the *giant poisan-gas emitting cricket bone bolts*.
I mean, until we manage to make bolts out of magma, it's pretty much the dwarfiest crossbow ammunition we have.
Well, tied with elf bone bolts and mermaid bone bolts anyway.

In DF dragons can neither fly nor do they have wings.
D&D doesn't factor into it - this is the suggestions forum for Dwarf Fortress.

Rocs however can fly and have wings.
I have no idea of the physics involved, but I'd imagine that they wouldn't be able to fly in RL.

I also apologize if I come off as hostile or something, English isn't my first language.
