Whenever a transaction occurs, monkeys are spawned equal to the value exchanged.

I'll have to check if caged dragons are available for purchase the next time the caravan shows up.

I gave the dwarf trade caravan about 10 young dragons in gold cages (I spawned a breeding pair of dragons and they have been churning out eggs ever since the first clutch hatched; currently trying to manage a dragonsplosion).

I wonder if this will lead to something bad happening... oh well. What's done is done.

I had a very strong crying spell this morning. I was looking at RWBY content on Tumblr and I had a very sudden wave of overwhelming longing to go back in time 3 years. I wanted to see Monty Oum alive and well again. I wanted to see his version of RWBY so badly. I started crying for him. Crying for the man who has occupied my every thought since he died.

I still need closure, but I don't think I will ever find it.

I once had dwarf traders with a barrel of Gremlin sweat for sale.

Just... who would harvest that? And why put it up for sale?

The grieving process is a complicated thing. It's different for everyone on every level.

When Monty Oum passed away two and a half years ago, I wanted to vehemently deny that he was actually gone. For months after the announcement, I could barely scavenge enough energy to do anything else other than video games. Whenever my attention strayed from them, my thoughts always cycled back to him. He has been in my thoughts literally every day since.

The odd thing is that I've only recently started having dreams where he's still alive and well. I would be amazed and indescribably happy, because I end up passing all of my checks for dreaming (which admittedly aren't many, but still). Every morning following these dreams were nightmares.

As much as Monty's death hurts me every day, I have been very slowly learning to channel that pain into action. I have been writing a story dedicated to him for the past six months. Infrequently, but it's far better than nothing at all.

The pain will loosen its hold, given enough time, but it will never vanish. Acceptance is more than simply dealing with the pain; it is learning how to use it as motivation and will power.

1) It's part of the knowledge system. Doesn't do too much right now from a gameplay point of view, but basically historians, engineers and such think a lot, make discoveries, write books.

2) Copy your game then retire and open real Legends mode. You can't progress through 2 ages without anything happening.

3) Active seasons only apply to fortress mode gameplay as far as I can tell. The rest of the world attacks each other as it feels like and abstracts trade completely.
1) Good to know I'm not missing out on anything yet.

2) I tried what you suggested and it did not work. All recent world events are still unknown. Am I missing something to make all events visible?

3) I know that. I added the extra active season so I could get more frequent reports from the Outpost Liaison.

The world kinda sucks, though. 1 Dwarven civ, 2 Goblin civs, and 2 Kobold civs. Not even Elves to piss off.

Urist McPerpetuallyDistracted has discovered the use of models and templates in engineering.

Okay. What does this mean?

Also, the world managed to progress into the Age of Myth from The Age of the Roc because I decided to spawn and breed Dragons.

Also also, I would really like to know what the hell is happening in my world, but the open-legends command in DFhack isn't giving me many historical events. The last two ages have a grand total of 0 discovered events. And I even have the Dwarves active twice a year (Spring and Autumn). The Outpost Liaison keeps telling me the world is the same as ever.

For context, this current date is 25th of Slate, Year 9. The Fortress of Siegeanvil was founded in Year 2.

Can't lose a bet if your bank account ceases to exist.

What's going to destroy the United States first? Trump or Yellowstone?

Not certain how to do with createitem
||
But, you can create an unit that yields shell (i.e. spawnunit GIANT_SNAPPING_TURTLE MALE) and then call exterminate him

And then have dwarf bucher him

||

=)

Alternatively, you could alternate forbidding other items each month if your caravans can bring shell-bearing creatures.
Thanks for the commands, but I already made a workaround by filling in a hole with water and having a fisherdwarf catch mountains of pond turtles.

I think the dwarf ended up making a candy grate. Useful for when I open up the circus.

A Forgotten Beast entered my fort.

It was a giant, three-eyed, feathered shrimp.

A fucking shrimp.

It didn't even have anything special, just a thirst/hunger for warm blood.

A single crossbow bolt knocked it down, and a few pounds with a +steel war hammer+ bruised its brain, causing instant death.

That was the dumbest Forgotten Beast I ever fought. No one got hurt fighting it.

Making a fishing spot with DFhack? Or is that too crazy to work?
Probably the only thing that will, for better or worse.

I've also had a dwarf drink him/her-self to death (suffocated in a pile of vomit). Their mood prior to death was full of "annoyed that they couldn't do this or that recently". Odd, since their stress was at the absolute minimum or close to it.
