DF Gameplay Questions / Is there a way to just get less Migrants?
« on: March 25, 2016, 12:22:48 pm »
Hi

I know, that there is a population cap, which you can set to prevent Migrant Waves (after the first 2).
But I personally would rather want really small Migrant-Waves instead of none at all.
(Also I'd still like to have normal child production!)
Is there any way to do this?

In my current game, it was like this:
- 7 Starting Dwafs (one was eaten by an alligator, but anyways ...)
- 2 Migrants in Summer (good!)
- 9 Migrants in Autumn (too much already!)
- 25 Migrants in the next Spring (-.-)

I think 1-4 Migrants each Season would be ok.

Those huge waves kinda destroy my relation to the Dwarves.
I'd like to Micromanage them properly, give them names, know them a bit better. But with such big waves, it gets kind of annoying/impossible to do that.

DF General Discussion / So I visited my old Fortress ...
« on: June 26, 2015, 06:36:50 pm »

:o

I am pretty sure, everything was great when I left.
I swear!

So this happens, if you leave your fort unsupervised for a few days.
Anyways ... got my Artefact Platinum WarHammer. :D

DF Gameplay Questions / How to not be "fooled" by vampires?
« on: June 03, 2015, 05:12:20 pm »
Hi, I am just reading through the Legends mode of my recent play.

I had a vampire, which I already knew and sadly accidently spotted in Dwarf Therapist by seeing over 2000 kills in the military tab.
(Is there a way to hide this information? It's spoiling the fun, if you can always spot vampires there immediatly.)

Anyways ... in the legends it says:
"In the late spring of 252, Siga fooled The Yellow Tongs into believing she was Udil Bronzepractices."

Is there actually a way, my dwarfs would not be fooled (high values in certain social skills for example)?
Or is this just how it always is.

Also, assuming you are not spoiled by Dwarf Therapist, what would be the way to actually find the vampire, when you get the first vampire-victims in your fort?

DF Gameplay Questions / Complete human caravan just disappeared o.O
« on: June 02, 2015, 05:06:57 pm »
Hi

There was just a human caravan with two wagons and some dudes.
I left the game running for less than a minute or so, but next time I checked the wagons were gone and there was one bin with goods dropped in front of my fort (in front of my war dog actually).
I pressed "u" --> "Others", and everything left was one dude and two horses.

The wagons and other dudes were already gone.
I claimed the bin since it was just lying there. Left the game running for a few more seconds and then the other merchants were gone as well (sadly I wasn't looking at them, so I am not sure, if they left the screen or just disappeared).

What could be the reason for the caravan to just dissapear?

Oh, and I also checked the reports and announcements.
No mentions of anything strange here.

(Also is it common, that it's raining for 2,5 years now since the beginning of my game? o.O)

DF Gameplay Questions / My Pigs are not breeding. :/
« on: June 02, 2015, 11:45:39 am »
Hello everyone!

I started my game with 2 pigs (one Boar, one Sow). Later on, there was even another Sow added by a migrant.
I have all those pigs in one 60 tiles big pasture area in my fort.
But they are just not reproducing.

My dogs already breeded like 3 or 4 times.
Is there something special I have to do to get them in the mood?
