Mirka

Through the shock of the kick, Mirka could just barely sense Estela rushing towards her, and tossed a handful of dust into the Major's face before trying to snap out her foot in a piston-like motion.

Estela

Estela grunted as the sand hit her face, but she'd already had her punch in motion; it made contact and sent another shock through the subordinate's body, although the assault was momentarily paused as Estela wiped the sand from her eyes and tried to recover from the sudden kick.

The home of the Zheng Mian is a dark and dreary place, a jungle with such a thick cover of foliage that there are few places where the light shines through. It is difficult to find large enough patches to farm, harder still to avoid the predators of the jungle. Were it just a bit more hospitable, maybe the Zheng Mian would have lived more comfortably. But they also wouldn't have attained their great spirituality. The Jungle of Light is the name given to this eternally dark land.

Many might have associated the jungles with the element of Wood. And perhaps in the outer regions they might be right. But in the darkest depths of the land, it is not the trees that define the lives of the Zheng Mian monks - it is the light. Those pure beams of sunlight shining through the rare break in the canopy, the light that gives the people the light to farm by, to see by, to live by. The Sun is the most important feature of the Zheng Mian's homeland. Through this trial of darkness and the purity of light, the founders of Zheng Mian learned to see the world for what it was.

The deathly home of the Zheng Mian paradoxically instills a lively character in it's people; they are those to whom death is a close friend, and not something to be feared. To be a cynical soul is to bring the dark into your heart, so laugh, and let in the light.

Laughing Lizard Style, Unarmed [Fire]

The Laughing Lizard style is one that cultivates a fierce passion in it's practicioners - but an equally burning creativity. Laughing Lizard is not a style of flinging fire into the foe's face like many of it's brethren in the element, but it's all about expression, creativity. To more rigid styles the movements of the Laughing Lizard seem random and haphhazard. The Laughing Lizard warriors fight with a smile on their faces, as if they were participating in a friendly game and not a potentially lethal engagement. Those sorts take themselves far too seriously; it's what makes it such a joy to see the stupefied look on their faces when they start getting hit!

The magic of the Laughing Lizard style isn't as directly offensive as many others. Instead, the user's erratic movements lend aid to the fiery mirages that trail them. In the split second where an afterimage is visible, it's not clear whether the fighter is dancing away from your punch or countering it, whether there's a low kick sweeping your legs or a high one jarring your brain.

Espresso

Espresso stuck with the group pretty well, but she was clearly distracted - she kept looking around, taking in the sights of a new city. She was started out of her reverie as the conversation went on, and shook herself to awareness. "Right, uh, ok! You're the boss, Hooch, so I guess we're going through the slums."

She'd kinda expected to end up on public transit, but she didn't really mind the shift too much. She knew her way around an urban environment, and was quite aware of how packed some places could get, so it made sense they'd take a different route. It wasn't as if they weren't armed, just in case.

Inithar's pretty fucked whichever way we go. This gives the best chance of preserving the culture (and frankly is probably a better long term thing), which is why we made a deal with the devil in the first place. Maybe if we'd gone the other way then I'd go for C.

Drone Tender Tank

The Drone Tender Tank isn't really a "tank" per-se. It's moderately armored, has a powerful engine based on the Strix's, and has a pintle-mounted Oceania for self defense. It's not an APC either, though it does carry combatants of a kind - just not infantry. What it is is a new kind of ground combat vehicle meant to provide unparalleled support for infantry and armored vehicles alike. The Drone Tender Tank carries a stock of armed drones as it's weapon, sending them out (protected from interference by the Strix's anti-hacking measures) from the "mothership" akin to an aircraft carrier on treads.

There are three main classes of drones. The Scout Drone bears an active camo field based on the infiltrator's and is armed with a low-power energy weapon meant less to murder people and more to short-circuit electronics. They can relay tactical information to soldiers in the field, or to the mothertank. It scuttles along the ground and walls like a spider, staying low and beneath notice.

The Support Drone is the middle child of the family, rolling along with the infantry using an Australia-based heavy machine gun. It's primary combat role is as an expendable yet durable squadmate. It carries an oversized powercell that allows allies to siphon energy to power their own class-specific gear.

The Anti-Tank Drone operates in trios, under the direction of the mothertank's crew; the largest class of drone, they're too heavy for wheels or legs so they trundle along the ground on treads like miniature tanks. What's not miniature is their cannons, which take up the bulk of their mass; high-power plasma projectors run off highly efficient energy cores, the drones can fire a single hefty shot before needing external help recharging - or, they can charge into the enemy tank and self destruct beneath their treads if their fussilade wasn't enough.

Zulu-class Nanite Field Generator

While the range of potential benefits of the basic nanite field generator is impressive, it's lack of specialization harms it significantly. The Zulu-class Nanite Field Generator focuses it's efforts on increasing the speed of our soldiers. Under the effect of the nanite field, allied troops will find themselves with significantly improved physical speed, as well as reaction times to help accomodate the improved speed. Early reports have more compatible soldiers describe a sort of "bullet time" effect, where enemies seem to move sluggishly and they think faster and clearer. While potentially quite horrifying if, perchance, the effect lets you see the tank shell coming to cave in your face, the overall benefits are worth it.

Warlords are able to project the field several meters around themselves, and benefit from it themselves. With a Warlord at the head of the charge, an infantry force can storm a position before the defenders have time to properly react.

---

Alternatively, if we want to try some silliness and make the Warlord's gear modular (without making the GM murder us in our sleep)

Empire-class Nanite Field Generator

The Empire Class is effectively the nanite field generator equivalent to an Australia; a blank-slate platform on which modules can be implanted to influence it's effects and abilities. The nanite field generator in it's base form creates a nanite field several meters in radius around the Warlord, with a boosting effect not dissimilar to the Basic Nanite Field Generator.  Where it differs primarily is twofold; a greater power supply which allows for a longer ranged and longer lasting nanite field, and two slots for Universal Equipment Modules. Differing from the UBM with new triangular-slots (round and square-holes are last gen) and the fact that they are meant for non-weapon equipment, the UEMs will dramatically alter the way the Empire Class operates; one module could turn the field into a zone of bullet time, another could make it physically reinforce the nanite-generated bodies of the soldiers, and still another could cause the nanites to get into the soldier's weapons and make them hit even harder. The Empire Class is not in itself going to revolutionize the Warlord's role, but will be in an investment in future equipment that will.

Sure, let's try this version instead.

Sena had been with the group for a short time, and had found herself overwhelmed by the events she'd suddenly been embroiled in; it had led her to withdraw more than she really should have, in all honesty.

She'd been terrified as they came up against the monster and found themselves outmatched, found herself crushed to the ground without being able to lift her weapons. She'd known she was about to die - and now that they had a moment, she wasn't going to let that happen again. She drew her bow back as hard as she could, took aim, and launched an arrow towards the newly opened gash in Rundum's armor.

Estela

A crack of thunder and burst of light signaled the kick making it's mark. Estela pressed the advantage, now; she had an opportunity while Mirka regained her footing, a process that would be made harder by the disorienting shockwaves of Estela's Holy Weapon making it's presence known. As Mirka staggered to her feet, there was another crack as Estela followed up with a rapid punch.

BOW Design: Reptitis

The Reptitis parasite is a parasitic pathogen notable primarily for it's "prepatory" stages of infection before the "weapon" part of "Bio-Organic Weapon" comes to the fore; the lab techs have been calling it a "social" parasite and

In the larval stage, it is transmitted primarily by exchange of bodily fluids; blood, saliva, and so on and so forth. In this stage, the subject undergoes what would appear to be a particularly rough flu or other illness as the larvae make themselves at home in the body. After the gestation period is when things start to get interesting. The symptoms subside in the subject, but all of a sudden they are very, very social. The infected show a significant increase in extroversion and desire for social interaction of various types. This provides a venue for transmission of additional parasites birthed during the gestation.

After a period of time, infected individuals will find their increased extroversion fading and replaced with irritability, irrational anger, and antisocial behaviors. They and other infected will tend to withdraw from society - after which the next stage of development occurs. The mature parasites will further infest the infected's body and mind, extending it's influence greatly. Mental faculties decline, while the host's physical attributes are enhanced. At this point, the first visible signs distinguishing a Reptitis infection appear, in the form of scale-like growths across the subject's body, along with toughened skin, nails, and teeth.

Eventually, the group's mental functions will be largely restricted to basic needs - and a feral rage at the uninfected. This is the point where the infected will make themselves known, roving around in packs as they assault uninfected ferociously. Occasionally, if an individual is subdued without significantly impairing their physical function, they will be dragged back to the den and forcibly infected with the parasite.

Our scientists believe that the observed behaviors are only the beginning of Reptitis' potential, and that further research and development would see significant improvements.

Estela

Mirka

Mirka was reeling for a few moments from the impact - Estela's counter had knocked the wind from her - but Mirka knew she couldn't let the opportunity slip by. Scrambling to her feet, Mirka rushed forth and did another slide, straight at where Estela had landed.

Estela had managed to recover mostly, and was nearly on her feet as Mirka launched herself towards her. She dodged to the side, trying to land a rapid kick as Mirka passed.
