Keep in mind your megabeast should still be defeatable.

Don't want your dragon of Doom randomly tearing up every world it shows up in, without any hope at all.

Steel Colossi are about the strongest you should go.

It's fine. Megabeasts are all that's required and non-reaction raw-modding is very easy to piece together.

We're still waiting on Vjm, too.  He'll probably post in about six-seven hours so you have plenty of time to contemplate what stuffs to add, or what to make your megabeast.

Bringing coal or extra logs can be a good idea though.  Lets you kickstart a metal industry or tide you over until you find magma.

vjmdhzgr, your time is up.  Finish up the mod and put it up on dffd or dropbox, or something.

Endlessblaze: it's your turn now, if you don't post within 24 hours of vjmdhzgr's reply.  We move onto Mcfluffles

I leave a stupid amount of embark points unspent.

If I didn't bring either 100 tons of coal, or 100 tons of birch logs each time I make a fortress, I would too.

This one is almost normal compared to some of the others, but what do people think of this one? The cook seems especially fond of this recipe. I imagine a cut of crundle meat is marinaded with the apricot wine then garnished with artichokes, with a little dinner roll on the side.

Crundle Meat
Cave Wheat Flour
Artichoke Heart
Apricot Wine

I'll get to work on this one.  But looking at some Crundle fan art, I'd imagine crundles would have tough, durable and lean meat, and taste a little like chicken, or dog.

DF Suggestions / Re: More Lovecraftian Monsters?
« on: June 14, 2015, 10:10:06 am »
also how many here has ACTUALLY even read any of lovecrafts works instead of just knowing he did fancy monsters and most likely inspired tentacle porn?

That's clever, but I think tentacle hentai predates Lovecraft. (Lovecraftian Period being 1917)
(might want to fact check me there, and everything I say, for that matter.)
I have seen and read some Lovecraft, but the idea of most of it regards madness and eldritch knowledge.

The Cthulu mythos is the most popular and well-mentioned, but I think what we should be looking at here is making forgotten beasts not tentaclier, but more powerful on a non-dwarf slaughtering level,  like inducing insanity, collecting cults or consuming souls.

That's also what the suggestion looks at, rather than "Add Cthulhu."

But I like the idea of making forgotten beasts stranger, rather than just Giant marmots that can spit out flesh eating bacteria.

ok, that's pretty horrifying too...

I see a breaded Yeti heart.  The flour and syrup are mixed, made into a batter. and the meat dipped into it.

Forgotten beasts. Enough said.

There are giant, mouthless penguins that repeatedly chant the names of the dwarves fighting it.

It has no mouth and yet it can CHANT.

Not only is it creepy that it somehow knows the name of EVERYTHING.  But it's calm enough to chant it while FIGHTING.

If you want Cuthulu? There are much worse things out there.

MUCH WORSE.

I've only pierced an aquifer with the ice method.

I've tried the other methods, to little to no avail.

There you go.  I didn't feel like making a dwarf to inspect, comment on, or eat it.

All I have to say is:

Booze as soup stock was the best idea ever.

Also, those are awfully large cherries.

239
I'm going to do your mega booze-persimmon-leaf-cherry roast. Too.

240
No.  The crowbar is for Gordon Freeman, when he mistakes it for a headcrab.

I don't think the dwarf plans to eat that anytime soon.
