DF Suggestions / Re: Weapons Grade Ethanol
« on: June 11, 2015, 08:44:52 pm »
Explosives: YES

Incendiaries: You are forgetting a much more practical use. but yes.

Cannons: I can see that working. but ehh...

Rockets: No.  That just doesn't fit.  Also I think plastic weighs more than candy.  I don't think it'd be that practical, either.

Engines: No. 1400

Fuel: ehh.. Might make things very complicated.

I think toady might have had this in mind with innovations, If I recall correctly, he mentioned Chemistry.  So ethanol would probably in there.

You also forgot the most awesome use of it.

Booze.

Also I'm assuming it will be stored in barrels?

244
What I would have in mind for that, is a puddle of prickle berry seed butter. (Seed butters are a thing.)

But that's beautiful.

Alot of these I like to make culinary sense of. But some you just cannot. (Entire meals made of tallow is hard to imagine as anything other than a giant mound of melting lard.)

That barrel looks like it might weigh Cog down.  24 pounds (12 kilograms) is alot when you're traveling.

Dump it onto the elf.

You could also probably sell the mango pit with the rock to get one mango.

also, why are you carrying around that scale?

246
You should probably get a different program.

I'm using Sketchbook pro, which gives everything a sketched out look.  But you can undo and it works pretty well.

Paint.net and photoshop work well.

Whaddya think?
hmm. An interesting take. So is the biegish stuff on the kabab alpaca cheese? and the red bit raw hedgehog meat?

A bit rare.  But I guess dwarves eat intestines right out of the animal, so it'd probably be delicious to a dorf.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this, with a few more kabobs lodged in the steamed cabbage, with a little more bayberry in a 4 star dorf restaurant.

I don't know if he purpose of this thread is to make culinary sense of the dishes, or to make fun of the dishes.

248
That llama cheese roast probably looks like a roast porcupine stuffed with cabbage, coated with a layer of cheese and mashed bayberries atop it. (I've never tasted them, but they're waxy and like blackberries)

I tried. Done in 10 minutes.

PTW

and maybe contribute a drawing or two.  I'm itching to have an excuse to power level my engraving.

also, half of these are going to be *Cat Tallow Roasts* with the only ingredient being cat tallow. Which I will now take the liberty to draw.

You'd be surprised how dwarves prefer tallow over any other ingredient.

I ignore the micing, and dream up dishes based on whatever they make. I have wondered about drawing some, someday. The cooking is real 14th century, as little distinguishing is done between savoury/main and dessert... there needs to be a dwarven cooking thread, I feel.
Perhaps I should start one, with a few drawings...?

*grabs drawing tablet

I am ready.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: What is your preferred weapon?
« on: June 10, 2015, 11:30:20 pm »
My favorite weapon is whatever I find first.

Although money is my best weapon.

I once killed an entire bandit camp by breaking their bones with thrown pennies, then killing them as they were on the ground, writhing in pain.

253
How many crundles did he kill?!

I tasted frozen, unsweetened Cranberries with no expectations whatsoever.

I was disappointed anyway.

I'm not sure what happened to them. (I didn't eat the whole bag.)  But I feel bad for my dorfs whenever I grow cranberries in a tundra fort now...

Cranberry wine must taste slightly less like despair than Radish wine.

It's also a successful business. Somehow.

Yeah. I posted the last one I saw. Which was when Flame and Fury said he wanted another turn.

I've looked through it and I haven't been able to find any others.

Good to see you're taking yours though.
