Sometimes this happens when ramps are destructed. I think you are just being unlucky.
Maybe you can try remove all the ramps before proceed to next layer?

Yeah, I think the trees are to be blamed.
I recall before I built the stairs, the wall couldn't be placed, it showed no access to building materials. I didn't give that too much thought. It seems the stairs solved the problem, partially.

By the way, is there a way to recalculate all the pathing informations? Like, a dfhack command?

Problem solved. I released the pastured animals.
The war bear killed a dwarf prisoner in that goblin site and the squads returned victoriously.  8)

Agree. Unless they fixed those obvious problems, early access sounds more honest.
As for the graphics, I like them, but I think there are too many 2D games with good looking graphics nowadays, so df might not stand out for graphics. If I didn't know the game, just by looking at the icon I would think it is another mobile conversion dungeon whatever game. :-X
I know it is still being worked on, so I hope it looks more unique in the future.

Last winter, I sent 2 squads to raze a goblin site which is nearly 1 days travel away.
But after a month they still haven't returned.  :o

Then I sent another squad to raid it and they returned with some junks and 3 stray beak dogs.

Now it is summer, there is still no message from the previous squads. What happened? The military screen says they are travelling.

Problem is, if some bugs are still not fixed,  expect nagtive feedbacks.
For example, merchants get stuck and refuse to leave.
It is normal and easy to solve for vetran players, but not for new players.

OK, according to the legends, a hydra used to live there, then the hydra was caught by my dwarves, then the elves settled there.

Expel
Giftmurk
Mosthated


Mosthated is a goblin site I conquered a while back, but I have no idea what Giftmurk is. I can find no such location on the map. How do I find out what kind of place is that?
