When LNP is not available I use ascii but I prefer 8x8 tiles, not the original 8x12 version.
I do not prefer ascii graphics, but I think I'm OK without graphics because I've been playing this game since 2008.

Nah, no trees. The dorfs were channeling before they arrived. So maybe when they returned the ground was already gone.

I rescued them by building 3x3 walls plus ramps under them.

I was wondering why some merchants hadn't left the map when I found this...
The wagon was floating above the snow field and couldn't move. :o

Well, a 73 years old human just had her second child. ::)

And how she died of old age and the baby became an orphan.  :o

That kid's gonna need some bituminous coal to deal with that.

Ah, shit the teeth were too hot and they destroyed the wood coffin. :o

Or some coke.

The baby died.
A fire forgotten beast got her.
What left was some teeth.

The teeth caught fire after I reloaded the save...
Well, guess I need some slabs.

Oh, this is what happens when a fire forgotten beast drops into the lake.

Oh, about the FB:

Quote
A towering quadruped composed of chrysocolla. It has wings and it has a bloated body. Beware its webs!

Its right wing is fractured. Its right wing is cut open.

Do you want it dead? If you do, use the dwarven solution to such problems.

   -Magma-

If you can't pump it there, leave it be and station some advanced traps around it.
I'm curious. Before that I made a room with bridges to trap it, but it didn't move.

Edit*

I tried to drop items on it, but it dodged ever one. Maybe I should try a small cave-in.

Edit*

Got it.

A forgotten beast just ignored my fort and stayed underwater next to the room of the duke. Because it had webs, melee squads are out of question. I had already trapped another FB so I don't know why this one just ignored the widely opened gate.

I tried to send some suicide mercenaries to it. The FB just webbed them, jumped out of the water and finished them off, before returning to its previous tile.

Oh, they looks very good in stonesense.
I also like to build surface cities, but I don't usually use visualizers, so I stick to flat design. But I'm not a creative person, all my rooms are bland 3x3 squares with a bed. ::)
I also recruit marksdwarves and set up the barracks in the center of the city so they can shoot at the keas.

The goblin duke felt dejected after being kept from alchohol for too long. I wonder why he didn't just grab a drink. :P

I don't know if it was coincidence, but my goblin duke was horrified after seeing some goblin invaders die, while the dwarves just shrugged and felt nothing.

Goblins ambushed some miners who were channeling on the surface and killed one, before the militia arrived and got rid of them.
It seems in current version, goblin ambushers still exist, although the message is the same as a regular siege.

The first human baby was born in my fort.
But for some reason he got a dwarven name Sigun.

I suspect I know what's causing this, but it's not quite the same as the issues I've found (and probably fixed). See, e.g, #1047, #1050, #173
I reverted back to alpha 2 and it worked this time.
