Meanwhile, I think Fallenglory is proving that the average fort is damn near tantrum-proof. If I don't at least get a stressed dorf by the start of autumn, I'm gonna be amazed.

How much worse can I make this fort? There's no booze. No dining rooms. No beds. No well. No tavern. No temple. No delicious cooked meals. No engaging tasks to do. No furniture to admire. No clothes.

Literally the only way to make it worse is if I had something to induce miasma, and if one of them were to croak. Actually, the latter would solve the former...


Really? Maybe the nobles can also forego their rooms/mandates.
Let me see how soon my mayor goes mad.

Damn, the only 2 soldiers gave birth to babies almost at the same time.
I had to replace them with another two.

And I didn't noticed I got a big migrant wave, then a mayor was elected.

Then a miner was taken by mood and asked for cloth. I produced two types of cloth before I figured out he wanted yarn which I didn't have any.

Well it seemed he had snatched some silk cloth without noticing and completed his artifact rock hatch cover.
I was about to shear the only alpaca for yarn.

Damn, I made a mistake when digging a channel for a well. Save reverted. Bye bye the artifact hatch cover.

I haven't seen hunting for vermin messages since perhaps 0.34...
Perhaps I never noticed them since they must be quite rare.

Yeah, maybe you can edit the missing for 1 weak announcement so it can pause the game.

But maybe the game should pause when someone cancel eat because they can not find path.

DF is my first ascii game.
I didn't even play nethack before that.

I decided to try it because I saw some site recommanded it. Not much I still remembered about the description but I recalled it mentioned someone was attacked by a crocodile and died a horrible death.  :P

In my experience, population(inlucding all creatures on map) is what really matters.
Keep them below 150 (citizens + guests + animals).

I wonder how many people are playing with default settings (220 hard population limit, 100 guests, if I recall correctly). To me that's hardly playable at all.

Are you able to get a screenshot of his current medical status or at least try and describe anything else about him? I think there's a way to check the current syndromes the dwarf is experiencing in one of the overview menus, like the thoughts or some seperate health menu. I know it can be done in adventurer mode, so it should be able to be done in Dwarf mode.

Upper body skin/muscle/fat
Extreme pain
Lower body skin/muscle/fat
Extreme pain
Neck ...blahblah

Checking the wiki, it does look like "pain" is a long term symptom of some poisons.
No, fortunately he's the only one who charged the beast and killed it.

OK, I checked his medical history.

The doctor had already evaluated his situation, but no further diagnose request was made after that.

He was in extreme pain, maybe it was not caused by the cave-in, but part of the symptoms?

I suspect "unconscious" can't not trigger diagnose.
The heath menu showed nothing wrong, other than "tissue pain" which was probably caused by a small cave-in I created.

unfortunately all medical duties and caring for the sick/those who are jailed  is very far down the priority list. If you want them looked after best to take all other duties from the person who you want to do so.
Nah, the doctor(chief medical dwarf) healed other patients before. Since he's a duke, I disabled most of his other jobs(except cleaning and lever operating) long time ago.

A mace lord was caught in a breath attack from a forgotten beast. Since then he has been resting, unconscious. The doctor won't diagnose him and no one is trying to feed him.
Is that a bug or feature, do I have an option other than leaving him starving to death?

Edit*

I created a small cave-in to knock him out (though he was already out cold). Later I found a bucket near him, so they did fed him after all.
The doctor still ignored him though.
