The siege stopped.
I was attacked by 2 forgotten beasts and some werecreature, lost dozens of dwarves. But when I glanced at the the upper corner, the siege tag was gone.

Well I think there must something wrong with the map edge.
Because now the siege won't stop, and I have no goblins on the map.

It is time to train replacements.

And now squad c was slaughtered, totally 9 elites dead, plus two dozens of civs.

Well, a wood burner kicked its cephalothorax to explode and killed it.

Siege flag wouldn't disappear!
I counted totally 39 goblin corpses, maybe 1 didn't enter the map?
Or did I have a spy?

Don't forget large armour for your human mercenaries.
Yeah.
And also mercenaries have their own armor sometimes. Those armors are owned items, they won't use your uniform unless you assign them specific armor pieces.

Well it seems dfhack can't locate units off map, df.global.world.units.active doesn't contain them.
Perhaps they don't exist?

In case if you are going for full armor, the best thing you can do is to create an empty uniform to make them drop and unclaim everything. Then set a new one with bottom layer only, i.e. gauntlets+boots+shield+weapon+helmet and leggings and chainmail. If you add breastplates and greaves at this point they will mess things up. Add those to uniform only after everything else is equipped and update the uniform assignment for squad(s).
Just reassign the uniform for all squads, they will replace them all eventually. Though the correct order is not granted, for example, a dwarf with a pair of bronze boots may grab a iron low boot and a copper high boot next time (if you use metal footwears).

Check the profession of your soldiers.
For example, a peasant with axe dwarf skill will become an axedwarf, not peasant, otherwise they are not actived yet.

Also check military screen, press m then e to see if all their equipments are marked with a green checkmark. If they are marked then everything is OK, you just need to wait for them to pick their armors up. If they still don't, check if "replace clothing" is on.

After I suspect the merchants got stuck off map, now for 3 years or so caravans haven't shown up at all. The goblins also stopped coming.
What do I do?
Is there a way to detect or kill units which are not shown in unit list, dfhack or not?

Bëmbul Ducimtinöth has become a Bone Carver.

Maybe I should recruit him and arm him with the axe.

A woodcrafter was biten by a weresomething.
I created a squad for him in order to gain better control.
Then I found the name of the squad was "Mechanical Defenders".

Squad leader: Where's my mobile suit?

Never mind... I went out to do something else. When I returned the dwarf transformed. What a mess.
So I reverted the save before he was biten.
