DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: March 06, 2016, 02:36:11 am »
Just found some of my human guests are slayers of various elves.
For example, the human axe lord who died of old age(87) recently once killed an elf called Elifa Visionleaf, she killed 19 goblins/trolls/beakdogs while serving this fort using an iron great axe.

Yeah, but you can just use more ordinary thing like battle axe because it is faster.
A stack of coins = hundreds of melting jobs.

DF Suggestions / Re: Should Weapons/Armor/Stuff be able to break?
« on: March 03, 2016, 10:16:41 pm »
I was thinking weapons could potentially be divided into "limbs" like your average living thing

I got the image about one dwarf wielding another dwarf as a weapon.

-----------------------------------------------

The Axedwarf strikes The Goblin Lasher in the head with his (copper battle axe), but the attack is deflected by the (iron helm).
The (copper battle axe) takes the full force of the impact and its head sails off in an arc!

Goblin: Haha, your luck just ran out it seemed.
Dwarf: Yeah, unfortunately, I have to kill you, in a much slower way.

*start poking the goblin with the shaft*

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: No respect for books
« on: March 03, 2016, 08:57:43 pm »
Maybe the book is owned by someone. Try forbid it for a while to see if it can be dumped agained.

This happens a lot when guests bring their own items. And my mercenaries tend to use their own armor than better armor I provide them.

I don't hate them.
But their caravans are too small and I usually don't want wood weapons. So I usually ignore them for they are too pitiful.

Paint a very big burrow should work.
Or you can design some wells inside your fort and hope they use it.

Their master orders them to attack, they attack.

This is a granite memorial to Ocba Pirniada.
The slab read "In memory of Ocba Pirniada / Born 33 / Died peacefully in the year 120 / Slayer of the Goblin Manormeadows / Lover of The Lark of Fragrances".

 :'(

Oh, a human axe lord died of old age while drinking.

Time to arrange a accident or invoke a mood with your metal crafters.
What if I don't have hammerer and guards?

Hmm, I didn't play 42.05 for long and now I'm on 42.06.
Maybe you can upload the save somewhere?

No channels, nothing out of the ordinary.  Straight d/d selection and Ctrl/v to mine the vein on that z-level.  Then using d/d selection to connect to various veins.

xxdddddddddd
      d     d    d
      d     d    d
      d     d     dddd*

d is dig spots; x is stairs up/down; * is where they got stuck.

Funny thing I abandoned the game started a new one and have had the same thing happen.  This time down at the magma sea level (one z-level up) digging out rows for magma to flow to build forges on the z-level above them.

42.05 version.

Check other levels, maybe your stairs were broken for some reason.

Maybe, I'm still waiting for next siege.

You don't need to create a special world, just in case you mess up some settings and get opposite effect.
But you need to have at least 80 citizens. Then wait for 1 year or 2. Just play normally, mine, produce, export, train soldiers, etc.

For some reason, my norsemen won't ready a plot of land to grow rope reeds. At the very least they diligently sow long yams, turnips, and cabbage to sustain us. We need stone desperately, as we lack other means to create mechanisms, and cannot build strong walls with wood alone.

Another attempt upon the aquifer is a must.
But wood walls are also walls, they can stand even fire.
