6. Buy the caravan out using xsocksx

Is the opposite of lazy.  My god, selecting all of those socks... multiple times... takes SO long....
You are right... maybe it is easy when there's dfhack but I can't recall.

Check if you have at least 80 citizens.
But, you need luck I guess.
I haven't seen any hostile goblins(minus those in my taverns) since 42 was released.

laziness

Sounds good.

Overseer: "Hey the goblins are coming, pull that lever!!!"
Urist McLaziness: "Yawn, let me sleep in for a while."

They'll all flood your living space because the water will come up through the well. If it will go up through the J-bend in your modified version, why wouldn't it come up through the well?

You need to eliminate the pressure. The best way is a diagonal passage.

# - Rock walls
. - open space
X - Vertical shaft/stairs where water comes down

By making the water go through the diagonal, it will lose pressure and not go back up the well.

Thank you. I'll try that when I have a river or brook.

But your draw bridge is shown as being several levels above your well. So even if you close the drawbridge, the water will still have enough pressure to rise up through the well and flood the room above it.
Oh, I see. But in fact my well did not overflow. Maybe the murky pool didn't have that much water to fill the tunnel...

The space below the well shows:
open space
water(7/7)

I have a draw bridge to cut the flow.
And after all it is just a murky pool so there shouldn't be much water.

isn't there a fortress mode bug where dorfs can't use 2-H weapons?

The classic bug is that the combat system doesn't check an individual's size modifiers, just the average creature size, when checking to see if they can equip a certain weapon.  So, the largest dwarves should be large enough to wield things like mauls or great axes, but they can't because the 60,000cm3 average dwarf is too small.  However, I thought that was one of the bugs that Toady addressed in the 0.42 releases.  In practice, a dwarven steel mug with a decent quality modifier is probably a better weapon than a goblin-made or human-made copper zweihander, maybe on par if you find an iron one, but in the long run, it's not worth your time to collect foreign weapons.

But being a large dwarf usually means fat, instead of having longer limbs.  :P

11 - Charcoal? Flux stone? Pig iron? How about I just remelt and reforge this pickaxe until I have enough steel to cover all my needs.
But it is easier to buy several steel bars or steel anvils, unless they don't have any...

This is my current design.

■ murky pools
■ tunnel
■ bridge/flood control
■ well

Should they work?

screw pump, or water pressure travelling from z+0 down to z-1 then up to z+0
Oh thanks.
So a U-shaped channel can do the trick?

My 1x1 map has only some murky pools and the cavern(yes, the only layer due to the world gen settings) is also dry. Is there a way to purify murky water?

DF Suggestions / Re: Caravans bring Coins?

We'd need a economy to make this relevant.

Also think about the amount of lost change when you trade all your roasts for the caravan's entire supply of coins because he has nothing worthwhile to offer you. Right now as of current, trade is just bartering.
They can bring a small amount, at least I can make a collection of coins. :)

Also I don't see a difference if they bring lots of coins. Since economy is not there it won't hurt/break anything, for now just treat coins like normal goods.

As the title says.

Against normal goblins, it doesn't really matter because you have more than enough time to train weapon lords before the first siege.

1. Dig a big room and put everything in.
2. Use a big domitory instead of bedrooms.
3. Use mined-out ore veins directly.
4. Everything goes to a big stockpile.
5. Sleep under trees and or inside caverns.
6. Buy the caravan out using xsocksx and barrels of prepared food.
7. Atom-smash nobles who demand something you are too lazy to produce.
8. Leave the game running in the background until it is paused by an event.
