Roll To Dodge / Re: You are a Monster - Turn 44

Raising his head, the pale deadman pleaded for your help. If he was still alive, warm tears would be running down his face.

"Sir Lorow, our protector! He is wounded and exhausted from many battles, I fear he will not make it this time, please believe me! Save him!"

Wounded from multiple battles... That certainly held up with what Terrence was seeing. The baron had reason to believe this Lucas was telling the truth... But still, a wise king takes precautions.

"Then save him we shall. Friends, to me. Lead the way, noble Lucas!"

Have Artomal and Vel stay close just in case, and follow Lucas. If this is a trap, we will be prepared. If it is not, we will be saviors!

The cowering undead looked at your definitely reassuring appearance, comforting in its implied nobility. He, or she, crawled backward to gain some distance from the Squires on which they seemed quite fixated. The undead prostrated themselves before all of you.

"Lucas! I beg you! Sir Lorow, he needs help!"

Terrence considered what he was seeing. This Lucas was strangely eager to submit themself, prostrating so quickly. To have a peasant bow as such felt right, but something was wrong here. The undead was either very desperate, or very devious. With how they reacted to the squires, the former seemed more likely, but seeing the remains of battle, it was possible that they weren't the danger... Either way, this chap needs things to go fast, and Terrence needs to know more.

"I can sense your urgency, Lucas. I presume the remains of battle we see here are involved. Speak quickly; tell me all you can, and we will offer our aid."

Terrence shook his head as he saw Vel arm himself. While such caution was wise in the deadlands, hostility towards the innocent was not. Though, of course, the group had yet to see if this strange, well-preserved man truly was innocent... Or even if he were not, if he were an enemy. But, there was an easy way to find out both these things.

"My friends, be at ease. We have no reason to show such hostility to this stranger! Squires, aside."

Terrence has the squires step back a bit, framing the king-to-be straight ahead of the downed figure, in the visual gap made by them retreating slightly. He does not approach too close (yet) in case it turns out to be some form of trap.

"You need not cower, friend. I and my soldiers bear you no ill will. My name is Terrence, baron and soon to be king, and I am seeking to escape this mysterious land so that I may claim my kingdom. Who, may I ask, are you, traveler?"

"Excellent work! This marks one more victory on our path to escape from these lands, and ascension to power. These squires shall remain with us, and their blades will aid us on our quest. I predict we will meet many more postmortals, and many of them shall recognize their leader and join our cause, just as these noble few have. As our army grows, so too shall we! To victory, gentlemen!"

Terrence uses his mending ability to heal up. If there are no objections, let us continue onward, with the enthralled squires taking point so that we won't be surprised if they decide to go back to attacking us for some reason. Terrence values and appreciates his new, low-ranking soldiers, but has yet to totally trust their loyalty.

"Well struck! Now, let us finish these villains!"

Send my enthralled squires to mop up the rest of our foes, and attack whatever's left with my bone broadword. Artomal and Vel can keep doing what they're doing; they need no further orders from me. If all the enemies are slain by the time I get a chance to act, use mending instead, just in case something else pops up at us.

General Discussion / Re: The Dream Thread
« on: May 03, 2021, 01:35:14 pm »
I had a dream where suddenly I had a girlfriend, who turned out to be a Minecraft bee. Not only that, but she was cursed. The curse caused her to be fairly happy and upbeat most of the time, but if she ever saw or heard about royalty, pizza, or bumblebees (which fortunately were a different type of bee from her in the dream) the curse would activate, causing her intense physical and mental torture.

Later that same dream, while we were having a fun day at the mall, we were approached by a certain pony princess, whose presence caused my new girlfriend's curse to activate and send her into a semi-aware trance of pain and agony. Thinking quickly and not-so-clearly, I responded by beating up said princess until she was no longer in our presence. Then, in a moment of clarity, I grabbed my still-recovering girlfriend, said we needed to go NOW, and ran for it. The rest of the dream mainly consisted of a car chase in which we got shot at a bunch by said princess' honor guard. We managed to get away and make it home safe, fortunately.

"Now, let them taste our conviction! Make them bow to the new king!"

Order Artomal and Vel to go on the offensive, but retain a defensive posture myself. Attempt to use my commanding presence trait to enthrall the squires attacking me! If not all of them attacking me are enthralled, have those enthralled attack the others that are on me; if I manage to enthrall all four, send them to support Artomal and Vel. If there's any time left after, try to mend myself using my Mending skill.

So many days spent traveling, with many minor successes, but then... this. The time has come for action, but we must strip these enemies of every advantage we can!

"Quickly, men! Form a triangle and take up your defensive posture! Be prepared for an assault from any direction, and stand fast; they shall impale themselves upon our blades!"

Form a back to back triangle with Vel and Artomal. Keep both my lower hands on my sword, upper hands open and prepared to snag any incoming attacks that my sword is too slow to counter. Maximum defense; let them come to us!

Nakeén can take his time. Life happens, and life takes priority. I'm perfectly content to wait as long as it takes.

Yeah, this thread's not dead, it's just on a slow clock. Which I don't mind at all, personally.

"Then on we shall travel. To build our strength, and our army! Our freedom we will earn, our kingdom we will claim!"

Onwards, to chase might and companionship!

"I am surprised, but contrast an undead who remembers their past life to metal-fused skeletons, marauders who have grown four clawed arms, and living suits of armor. In the relatively short time I have existed as undead, I have learned to forbid such remarkable occurrences from phasing me."

"Now, only the question of whether we are ready to engage our warden remains. Shall we chase after the armor? Or shall we continue along the path of the marauder, in search of greater power? I, for one, suspect we are not yet ready, but very near to it."
