Now is the time to strike back against the orders of holy knights.
The self-proclaimed righteous warriors who plague these lands.
The paladins who claim even the slightest pinch of evil to be an abomination, to be punished and slaughtered.
And it is time for the brave souls of the world to rise up and take action, be they stained with demon blood or simply against the rule of the holy knights.
Our victory is assured, once and for all, because at this place, on this day...
Anime is real.
Sooo, anyway, the entire point of this forum game is simple: create ridiculous, overpowered anime characters with ridiculous, over-the-top anime weapons and ridiculous, all-consuming anime powers for the purpose of embarking on ridiculous, contrived anime journeys to destroy ridiculous, inhuman anime villains. How ridiculous we talkin' here? well, have a look at some of your required reading and you'll find out. For those of you who don't want to read the wall of text story, I'll include a TL;DR version. I've honestly been dreaming of something like this for some time now, but anyone who participated in roll to twitch knows I'm too lazy to do any forum games without help. However, I do have help this time! I've recruited a few fellow bay12ers to make sure that at least one of us (probably) is always in proper shape to continue this ridiculous RP!
Anyway, here's the story. It explains quite a few things about the setting, I.E, all you need to know.
Pull up a chair.
Not long after the first kingdoms rose, many knights came to power, given strength by a holy energy gifted to them by the gods. These holy knights were to become paragons of the people, protecting the world from all that is unholy and steering the world ever on the path of righteousness.
Or so one would think.
The very first holy knight became corrupted by the incredible holy power that rested within their being. Suffused with an energy which was said to correlate with good, they began to see the smallest evils in the world. Their vision clouded by righteousness, everything which had ever been touched by an evil act seemed an abomination which must be punished and purged from the world. And so their crusade began.
The innocents they met, those who had committed only minor sins such as a simple lie or petty deceit, would be beheaded, killed quickly and without excessive pain.
Those who held malice in their hearts, thieves and bandits, were impaled and left to die with their entrails pierced, dying a much more painful death than a simple decapitation.
Those who actively removed the good from the world by taking a life were dismembered, left to experience the agony of one’s own lifeblood leaking from their own severed limbs.
Those who embraced their evils, tricksters of entire nations, sadistic mass killers, those who found joy in their own sins and fostered evil within themselves, were captured and tortured to death.
One fateful day, the holy knight discovered a demon of hell, a creature whose body was composed of the very antithesis of what gave them power. A being which was wholly unholy. In their eyes, it mattered not what actions the demon committed, be they acts of malice or benevolence; this beast was nothing more and nothing less than pure evil.
The knight suffered the creature no chance of victory. An entire decade they spent plotting the end of the demon, devising a fitting punishment. After the ten years had passed, with a mighty spell crafted specifically for the beast, the holy knight summoned the demon to themself, tearing it through the walls of the world. It was a magic created to cause agony, pure agony, and in that one instant of being torn through reality itself, the demon suffered pain to rival that of all those who had been slain by the holy knight throughout their years of travel combined. And that was only the first instant of the demon’s torture.
As the two battled, every movement the knight made was designed to inflict ever greater pain upon the demon. Every breath they took, every twitch of every muscle, called forth an unspeakable agony in the demon’s body and mind. The fight dragged on for hours, each moment more painful than the last, until hours became days, days became weeks, and weeks became months. Finally, after a year of painful struggle, the demon collapsed, and was captured by the holy knight. By now the demon wished for only one thing: to be slain, and to let the pain end, but the knight would not allow the demon to escape their clutches so easily.
For an entire decade, the knight continued to escalate the already unbearable tortures they tormented the demon with. Every second of every day was spent ensuring that the demon was in a constant, neverending agony. The demon would be punished for all it deserved in the eyes of the knight. As the years went by, slowly, cruelly, the knight would sever parts of the demon’s body, but would never allow the stump to heal. The wounds would slowly fester, and the demon would be forced to savour the pain of loss.
At the end of the decade, the final part of the demon was finally severed, and nothing was left but the demon’s soul, clouded by eleven years of agony. But the knight was not finished yet, and the demon’s soul was placed in an aetherial prison, one which would all at once force all the pain the knight had inflicted on the demon onto its soul, forcing it to relive years of agony concentrated down to a single instant. This happened constantly, and the demon, broken and aching with all its being, was losing itself in the all-consuming pain as the prison slowly tore the soul to shreds, one tiny piece after another.
Finally, after a millennium had passed, the demon’s soul had been completely shredded, and the prison could not take hold of the tiny fragments that remained. Within the prison, something had been brewing, slowly forming within its depths over the thousand years of torture. A bright crimson liquid which flowed along channels formed by the movements of the soul. This substance was pain, in its purest and truest form.
Free of the prison’s control, the shreds of the demon’s soul and the liquid pain they floated in began to agitate and boil, thrashing against the metaphysical walls of their prison. Before long, the prison was shattered, the roiling mixture blasting free into the air, and scattering far from its place of torture.
On that day, the sky turned an intense glowing crimson that blanketed the entire world.
A shower of blood rained from the sky. The demon’s blood covered all the lands. Those it touched were left writhing in agony, and those it didn’t cowered in fear, thinking this to be the end of the world. The holy knight’s actions had poisoned the world with pure pain.
But the holy knight saw no wrong in their actions. They saw a demon who was supposed to be dead shattering its cage and polluting the world with its curse. They knew that if the demon were ever to assemble itself again, they would be its first target, and that it would force upon them every ounce of pain it had felt in that long thousand years.
And so the holy knight vanished, and their location is not known to this day. But in the millennia that passed, others began taking up the banner of holy knights, granted holy power for an unknown reason, and adopting similar views to that of the original holy knight: All evil, even potential evil, must be punished and eradicated. The world around, they banded together and fought. At first, they were easily held down and kept from harming the people of the world, but over time they began to gain power. Groups of holy knights banded together, some only a handful of soldiers strong, some with numbers to rival the armies of the most powerful nations in the world. Their goal: purge the world of evil and cleanse the demon blood from its husk.
Worse yet, these orders of knights seem to be cropping up from nothingness itself. Even where all the people were thought to have died out centuries ago, holy knights have been appearing, faster than anyone can hunt them down and slaughter them all. But would that even be enough? Would the knights continue to arise regardless, slowly wearing down the heroes who had seemingly defeated them? It seems as though the holy knights are unstoppable.
However, there is hope. Many who have been touched by the demon blood survived, and from it gained immense power derived from the pain the demon experienced. These individuals have come to be known as the “demon-touched,” and are immediately branded as abominations that must be purged by the holy knights. Some have even gained ownership of a piece of the demon’s own body, and among these there are seven who gained the pieces with the largest shards of the demon's soul, and came to be known as the seven deadly sins. it is said that if one can unite the seven deadly sins back together, it will revive the scorned demon. The demon will point the way to the original holy knight, who if slain will throw all other holy knights and their orders into turmoil, guaranteeing that they will be purged from the world.
And you, be you demon-touched or otherwise, have taken it upon yourself to use whatever gift you hold to defeat the holy knights and bring peace to the world.
Whoo, mama, that was a big one. So, here's the TL;DR version:
Not long after civilisation was invented, a holy knight began their crusade, deriving a holy power from the gods. However, they became corrupted by this holy power, and began seeing the evil in everything, in very intense ways. The killed everything which was even a smidgen evil; the eviler they were, the more painful it would be. Eventually they came across a demon of hell, which, being literally made of the opposite of the energy which gave the knight power, they decided would have to die in the worst way possible. The knight spent more than a thousand years torturing the demon down to its very soul, torturing literally just the soul in an etherial prison after its body gave out. After the millennium of pure pain, the demon's soul had been shredded into the smallest units it could exist in, which were floating around in a roiling extradimensional liquid which was literally pure pain, and was basically the demon's blood. The prison couldn't handle this, so everything exploded and the sky turned glowing crimson red across the entire world and it began raining demon blood which caused agony and probably death to everything it touched. The knight knew that the demon's essence now had a ghost of a chance at revenge, so they vanished without a trace. Now, millennia later, more holy knights are cropping up all over the damn place, developing similar ideals to the original holy knight, and laying waste to the landscape. They've begun banding together into orders and guilds of wildly varying sizes, which contain every anime villain ever. They never seem to stop coming, too; no matter how many you kill. However, people who survive coming into contact with the demon blood are given immense power, and are known as the "demon-touched." Some demon-touched are lucky enough to own a piece of the demon's body, which was chopped to bits during those aforementioned thousand plus years, seven of which contain comparatively very large and powerful fragments of the demon's soul. The owners of these pieces have become known as the seven deadly sins, and if they are all united, they will be able to resurrect the demon and sniff out the original holy knight. If they are killed, all the bands of holy knights appearing around the world will fall apart, and the world will be saved and peace can reign.
That's where you come in. You might be demon touched, you might be a defector from an order of holy knights, you might just really hate the state of affairs, but it's your job to find the seven deadly sins, get them to cooperate, revive the demon, and slay the original holy knight so that all of these omnicidal maniacs in priest's robes can go fuck themselves.
Alright, that takes care of that. Now, I'll bet you want in on the action, eh? Well, here's how! Post with your own character sheet following the template provided, and we in the GM squad will suggest any edits (probably none) that need to be made to ensure your character is reasonable (fat chance!) and fits properly into the lore of the world. (probably won't come up. Non-contrived lore is for wimps.)
special note: everything you're about to see is optional to add. Seriously, every single part of this. Of course, if you don't describe your character's ridiculous appearance, powers, etc, where's the fun in that?
Name: What will we call this special snowflake?
Gender: what gender (if any) does this person identify by?
Sex: What's in their pants?
Age: 27 is just as reasonable as 6, which is just as reasonable as 99999, which is just as reasonable as

or even nothing at all. This is ANIME.
Appearance: Show us how special your snowflake is! The more unique and the more cliche'd, the better! Cute, edgy, silly, serious, go f*cking all out! This is your time to shine!
Weapon: Tell us about your character's weapon, or their lack thereof. What incredibly intricate bauble do they use to fight with? You can go so far as to give your weapon a long, storied history with a drawn-out description, or just say "oh, it's a boat oar."
Powers: Anything special you'd like us to know about your character's special powers? Be as thorough or non-thorough as you so choose!
Fighting style: What can we expect from your character when they find an ass to kick? Multiple forms is optional, and encouraged. You may be so broad as to mention a number of techniques and a detailed list of the differences between your character's three different forms, or simply say "Tsumayōji no jutsu, the art of fighting with a toothpick." This is your special snowflake, who am I to judge?
Story: What compelled your character to strike back against the holy knights? Don't worry about length. With enough walls of text, we may build a castle to rival the gods of literature.
Stats:
Include whatever the hell stats you want. HP, MP, SP, JP, XP, ZP, it doesn't matter. STR, DEX, INT, WIZ, LCK, BEARD, pick your poison. Might, mysticality, moxie, mass-destruction, mustardiness, whatever you deem necessary and especially that which you don't! Because as anyone worth their salt knows, in anime...
Stats are.
Nothing more.
And nothing less.
Than FLAVOR TEXT.
And we want ALL THE FLAVOR!!!
Might add to give an example of what I had in mind when I created that character sheet. In the meantime, I offer you this advice: go all out! seriously, this is supposed to be absurd.
To all those of you worrying about dice and mechanics and all that, don't be. We are literally making up the mechanics as we go along. Why, you ask? This is anime designed to rival Jojo's bizarre tengen yu-gi-ball shippudone piece. If we were to NOT rely on contrived asspull physics and mechanics, we'd be forsaking the entire point of this thread!
