Now is the time to strike back against the orders of holy knights.

The self-proclaimed righteous warriors who plague these lands.

The paladins who claim even the slightest pinch of evil to be an abomination, to be punished and slaughtered.

And it is time for the brave souls of the world to rise up and take action, be they stained with demon blood or simply against the rule of the holy knights.

Our victory is assured, once and for all, because at this place, on this day...

Anime is real.

Sooo, anyway, the entire point of this forum game is simple: create ridiculous, overpowered anime characters with ridiculous, over-the-top anime weapons and ridiculous, all-consuming anime powers for the purpose of embarking on ridiculous, contrived anime journeys to destroy ridiculous, inhuman anime villains. How ridiculous we talkin' here? well, have a look at some of your required reading and you'll find out. For those of you who don't want to read the wall of text story, I'll include a TL;DR version. I've honestly been dreaming of something like this for some time now, but anyone who participated in roll to twitch knows I'm too lazy to do any forum games without help. However, I do have help this time! I've recruited a few fellow bay12ers to make sure that at least one of us (probably) is always in proper shape to continue this ridiculous RP!

Anyway, here's the story. It explains quite a few things about the setting, I.E, all you need to know.

Whoo, mama, that was a big one. So, here's the TL;DR version:

Alright, that takes care of that. Now, I'll bet you want in on the action, eh? Well, here's how! Post with your own character sheet following the template provided, and we in the GM squad will suggest any edits (probably none) that need to be made to ensure your character is reasonable (fat chance!) and fits properly into the lore of the world. (probably won't come up. Non-contrived lore is for wimps.)

To all those of you worrying about dice and mechanics and all that, don't be. We are literally making up the mechanics as we go along. Why, you ask? This is anime designed to rival Jojo's bizarre tengen yu-gi-ball shippudone piece. If we were to NOT rely on contrived asspull physics and mechanics, we'd be forsaking the entire point of this thread!

I'm actually Co-GM'ing this with a couple other people other people, so if you've got any issues don't be afraid to ask any of us three. The users who are effectively GM'ing this are myself, Sl4cker and KJ1225.

IC is up! IC link.

Meet Jimmy. This is Jimmy --> @

Jimmy enjoys art, pretty landscapes, adventuring, and most of all, treasure.

His interests include art, pretty landscapes, adventuring, and most of all, treasure.

The rest of his personality? Well that's up to you, because YOU are Jimmy.

Also, that guy over there, he's Jimmy too.

And him, and him...

Who ISN'T Jimmy around here?

So basically, I kind of was interested in becoming the GM of a forum game, and I decided to do this as a sort of test run. This is going to be summit of a minimalist RTD with little Jimmy being on an ASCII grid. Whenever I get around to doing a turn, (I will try to do several turns a week) little Jimmy will attempt literally EVERY action which is suggested for him to do between the most recent turn and the turn I'm rolling for. This follows fairly standard RTD rules: literally every action attempted includes a roll. 1 is an epic fail, 2 is a fail, 3 is between success and failure, 4 is a success, 5 is resounding success, 6 means I get to figure out how the action could go horribly right. You can also suggest things for NPC's and enemies to do if you want, but they have resisted the twitch curse; they will only attempt at max the first four things suggested to them. To keep things from getting absolutely ridiculous, the maximum any creature can move in one turn (when time is of the essence, like in combat) is 5 character/tile/things. No amount of flooding movement suggestions can change this.

Ok, that's about the extent of the rules I'm going to lay down here.

Let's see if this goes anywhere at all.

(also yes, this is sort of a mix of an RTD and a suggestion game, but really that's because I'm new to GM'ing RTD's, and mostly that I'm lazy. This seemed easiest. I have no shame in this fact; I will not hide the truth.  :P )

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Just another day in the fortress.
« on: November 08, 2015, 03:29:06 am »
Well, I'd say that my little dorfs are doing quite fine!
I don't remember them being this low maintenance...

Everything seems to be fine, although the dorfs are going to be needing a bit of time to finish digging out the bedrooms and making furniture.
I swear, this was more chaotic in my last fortress...

Well, nothing for me to do at a moment. Not a single beard sitting idly, might as well go read up on iron men and reachers. What could possibly go wrong?

...

...

Why is my common room flooded?

So, what do you think? should I continue this epic tale of how most of my fort pushed through and survived average life in the fortress? Should I tell of how things suddenly took a turn for the worst, dwarves died, and a hero was born? Should I just shut up?
