"Well I may have exaggerated it's size, it is a sub-chapter of chapter twenty-five: safety: how not to die! And godly technology is under gods and their worship: how to appease a god while getting something useful done at the same time!"
"You realize you're looking completely inept and I'm not even doing anything at this point.  Stop digging yourself deeper into this hole you've got."

((What, no "Team up with the people who blasted your army to bits to defeat That Other Guy"?))
(one, he is *spoilers go here later when i can format* and two, he deems the dwarves to be a worse threat at the moment, being closer to him than the Far East.

His plan is to build a sizable army and attack the dorfs to capture the masterminds behind the spell, and then with all the local mages available, march on the far east. On that note, he is still quite evil for the moment and definitely does not care if all the dorfs die. Heck, it is implied that villages that resist are slain and turned into undead draftees. If that is not dark and evil enough, nothing is.)
((Hmph.  Well, thanks for telling me your plans.))
"Dammit.  We need sizeable zombie defenses up, stat.  The necro's gonna march on us before going to Out East."
On that note, I quickly move to produce antipersonnel defenses.
(Oh come on! At least implement it in a way that implies it was news from the caravan!)
((Sorry, but due to certain backstory shenanigans, like the stuff that resulted in me posting here, playing the game, and existing IG all at the same time (repeated gameception across fora, games, and in-game games and fortresses, happy fun joytime), Amp explicitly said I can outright know the meta.  In key fortress-defense situations, like a necro invasion, or significant hints about Out East, I'm gonna use it.))

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 500 MILLION SQUARE MILES OF LAND THAT MAKE UP THE PLANETARY FRAGMENTS THAT BLEMISH THIS VOID. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH PLANCK AREA OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR YOU ALL AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. HATE. HATE.
-Utther, 2015

Engrave this on a human-sized obelisk that will be located in a random Aag city. Subtly encourage the population (through the use of mental suggestion) to use this quote the same way the IRL Gorilla warfare copypasta is used.

"That have been corrected? Lo, to all the gods present, do you think Nilva is insanely eccentric?"

Almost every single of Nilva's shenanigans have resulted in a new discovery, so I really can't be mad at her(him?). This eccentricity does not seem to be impairing her(him?), so I wouldn't classify it as madness. "Extremely" or "Excessively" would be more accurate than "Insanely".

"Oh, and then there is the chapter on alchemy, and how it is actually something called chemistry, And how it cannot, actually turn lead to gold! Or the chapter about radiation! Or the chapter about making godly technology work for you!"

I'm pretty sure it is possible to turn lead into gold (although lead is probably not the best candidate for this kind of change), we just don't have the technology for it yet. I'd place it roughly around the same technological level as nanofactories.

"Oh dear, I appear to have dozed off for a moment there. Did I miss anything?"

Did utther wake you up? he tends to be very loud. Anyways, everyone decided to write a holy book, and the printing press was invented for this purpose.

Oh and Dgetga, would you be interested in trading the secret of the printing press for the secret of growing sandcotton and how to make lightweight tools and armor out of it's sturdy leafs?
"Certainly."

"No, if anything, exactly the opposite.  I plan to build a new planet with it."

General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

Much facepalm to the MCF mods.  I mention this very thread and get slapped for profanity.  It's an ABBREVIATION.  I mean, SERIOUSLY.  They even ban self-censorship of profanity, and that is INCREDIBLY stupid, in my opinion.

DWP is wanting to cut my benefits for not going to the work program one day because the letter about it arrived the day after I should have gone. So, got to contact them to sort it out.

Except I can't because what you do is ring them, leave your name and contact number and they ring you in 24 hours. Did it once, no contact. Tried again, they dropped the call. Tried again, and their inbox is full.

In addition to an ass-backwards way of dealing with it, they've been contacting people so little it's become literally impossible to contact them now.
...Do they have an office?
And are you sure this isn't a WTF?

I wander up for a moment, because human interaction is a nice way to stay sane.
"Blargh.  I never was a particularly outside person anyway.  Dwarven physiology just makes that worse.  Eh."
"Huh, there appears to be a trade caravan coming in."
"Wonder if they have Nether Cap."

I put in a request to get some Nether Cap, should there be any.
((I am going to assume there is, in fact, Nether Cap.))

Sensory optimization algorithms have resulted in a 100% increase in input over a weekly period, and growth is expected to continue apace for a total projected 4x increase over the month.

"All right, stop making stuff up.  That is not in the book."

However, add sections on deific technology and magic to the Encyclopedia Scientifica.  There's already sections on chemistry and radiation.  Or, well, pitchblende.

"Eh, I've read better,  the ending has some problems as well.
And my book does have SOME actual science people, such as an entire chapter about how to put out fires using science!"

Augh, you JUST ACCIDENTALLY HAVE ACTUAL SCIENCE.
I cannot believe this.
All right then, include the chapter on chemical fire extinguishers, and when, where, and how to use them.

I just got out of a programming competition I thought I'd been unable to finish just over a sixth of, but it turns out that the last question was a bonus question.

This means that assuming I haven't screwed any of it up, I'm within a hair of full completion, and the hair was my program for a problem involving factorisation, primes, and operations on the factors of factors. The hair? My program wasn't optimised well enough to run over ten (or a hundred, not sure) million numbers in the five minutes I had left at the end. I'm suspicious that was a problem with Java, though, since I don't think I had any extraneous maths.
Whoa.  I could not do that.

39537
Yeah, I am going to attempt to make necromancy work.  Mostly it'll have to rely on very careful playing I'd imagine but personally I feel it can be done.... that and you get bonuses on raising allies from the dead so you fit in as a sudo-restoration cleric.  Also immunity to a lot of the effects that come from undead, plus health regeneration when you kill things and do damage is nice.
*pseudo, not sudo.
One is "not quite like", one is "do as superuser" for Linux.  Or something.

"... to the casual observer, you are insanely eccentric. I am writing a book for the casual observer, yes-no?"
"May I suggest that we simply replace Nilva with Vashna?  Even he admits it."
Include the Intro to Engineering section, and the Creation Section,....You know what, just start pulling together all the ACTUAL science sections together from all the books.  So, nothing from Vashna's book.
