I don't think Tiruin is coming back, so TheDarkStar, please investigate Tiruin right now so that we can just take her out of the equation.

Won't the power roles claiming make them sitting ducks for the scums?

Yes.  The Shop Detective(Roo), Kind Soul(myself), and Wannabe Investigator(Unknown) will probably be nightkilled during the next 3 nights.  However, The Wannabe Investigator can use his ability today on one of the unconfirmed vanilla townies to get their alignment.  With less targets, he'll have a higher chance of hitting scum, and if not, he'll confirm another townie, reducing our number of valid targets.

If everyone claims (except the Mercenary) and The Wannabe Investigator cooperates, then the worst case scenario is that we'll have 5 unconfirmed vanilla townies (3 of which are scum) to pick from for shooting.  However, if we misfire twice in a row, then there will be 3 townies versus 3 scum and the scum will be able to tie the gun vote.  Then the gun will be given randomly and the scum will have a 50% chance of winning the game.  Even if we win that bet and shoot one of them, as long as they are able to NK, we'll have to do the same 50-50 gamble each following day until they are all dead.

I checked tntey's profile a few minutes ago and saw that he was online.  He went offline just now.  I hope he posts soon.

Day 1 ends tomorrow.  We should propose our final cases soon.  Late tonight, I'll return with my full list of reasons why I'm voting SaberToothTiger, unless he says or does something to change my mind.

@mod / SaberToothTiger : Request prod on Tiruin and TheDarkStar.  (A prod is just a pm to that person telling them to post in this thread soon or risk being replaced for inactivity)

Here are the current claims so far:

Megggas: Kind Soul
Origamiscienceguy: Paranoid
Roo: Shop Detective
The Moonlight Shadow: Vanilla Townie (confirmed by Roo)
fillipk: Vanilla Townie (Unconfirmed)
flame99: Vanilla Townie (Unconfirmed)
Tawarochir: Has not claimed
Cinder: Has not claimed
TheDarkStar: Has not claimed
Tiruin: Has not claimed

One of the people who hasn't claimed is the Wannabe Investigator.

fillipk & flame99:  Between the both of you and the unconfirmed players, who do you believe is the scummiest and why?

35
I already claimed.

We should shoot tds/filipk/tiruin fairly certain their is scum there.

I meant the other investigator.

36
So, assuming we can trust Roo not to doom the town for his own amusement, The Moonlight Shadow is a confirmed vanilla townie.  That should leave 4-5 VTs to investigate.

We just need the Investigator to claim now (and hopefully also the mercenary).

SabertoothTiger is this your first game of mafia? of bay12 mafia?
Please. Why are you voting to lynch somebody without a real reason? I think you are hoping to get a kill early on, so that being cult is easier for you.

SabertoothTiger, if you think fillipk is cult, then why are you neither interrogating him nor voting for him?  You also seem overly defensive in every one of your posts.  Do you know how to scumhunt?

Ebwop:  Meant vanilla townies in second sentence.  Also forgot to include pfp.

Okay, I have a plan then.  If we all role claim, there will be either 5 or 6 townies.   The investigator can use his ability on one of the townies to narrow it down further.  If the mercenary claims and wants to align with us, then we'll interrogate the vanilla townies to identify scum, but shoot the mercenary at the end of the day.  Then he'll accuse whichever VT seems the scummiest in the hopes of joining our side.  Scum will probably kill power roles each night and we'll just have to keep interrogating the VTs and shooting the scummiest of them.  By Day 4, we've either won or lost.

I claim Kind Soul.

I can confirm that there is at least one boring, power-less role. :P

Ehh, so you're claiming too?  Does your role flavor text mention a superhero name like fillipk's?

Ah, ignore my previous reaction post.  I reread the context of that statement and realized it was just fillipk speculating, not claiming he knew stuff about the cult.  :-[

Okay, fillipk, I calmed myself down, reread the flavor text, reread your posts, and re-evaluated you.  The flavor text does mention Guardians of Earth, private space stations, players wearing masks, and other superhero comics-esque elements.  I googled your superhero name, and apparently it's some kind of mythological giant found in norse mythology, so it is probably legit.  I can now understand how you got the idea that we all superheros and power roles.  I get the impression that you actually are a power role rather than the cult leader.

Unvote

That said, I don't think anyone else should claim a power role.  I think your theory that we are all superhero-inspired power roles is wrong.  From a game balance perspective, if that was true, then we could easily all claim, state our abilities, and utilize our role abilities as a team to identify the cult leader and cultists to win the game easily.  For example, if our power roles were Cop, Watcher, Tracker, RoleBlocker, Commuter, Role Cop, Jailkeeper, and Vengeful, then we'd be able to use our abilities together in such ways as to confirm townies and inspect suspicious players.  Cultists would have quite the dilemna providing a fake claim too.  If they provide one too early, it could end up being a copy of another power role, which would be suspicious and worth investigation, but waiting to provide a role last would also be suspicious.  It would be a lose-lose situation for the cult unless they had a series of abilities too that they could use to "prove" their innocence.

I won't be posting much during Tuesday and Wednesday.  Real life will be keeping me busy most of that time.

Megggas, you have been really active and that is a good thing since you have been posting a lot of content, however if you could off someone right now who would it be and why?
Huh?  I have?  What content?  I was only active for a short burst of time where I mostly talked about game theory stuff.

I guess I would off The Moonlight Shadow, since he's probably scum who doesn't know it.  TMS didn't receive a PM containing his role, and Roo received two PMs.  Since Roo wants TMS dead, I'm guessing that the second PM he received was a scum role PM.  So...yeah.  It might just be best for the mod to reboot the game and detail the rules better.

Ok, I'm back again.  I realized I should probably comment on some of the other stuff going on, so I-

The converted have no power but the cult leader is night immune and we win if we get him, and if this was the case I would be kind of pissed if you converted me, I like having powers

Wait another minute!

The Wannabe Investigator (town) - Once per game, you may check an alignment of a player.

This description doesn't say that the Investigator can only use his ability at night!  If we go along with the plan, the Investigator can ID one of the townies before we even choose which one to lynch!  Just need to confirm this for sure.

@Mod / SaberToothTiger : Can the Wannabe Investigator use his ability during the day?  Can the Shop Detective use his ability during the Day?

Origamiscienceguy:

Quote from: OP
The Townies win when they kill all scum and semi scum scumbags.

The Mercenary (semi scum) - You were hired by the mastermind to act as backup and your loyalties are shaky. If lynched, you may accuse someone of being scum. Depending on whether you align with the townies or traitors after death, you win when the side you aligned with wins. If you live to the end, you are treated as scum. If the Knifer dies, you are the stabbing person but the Mastermind decides on who to kill.

So, we would still have to lynch the mercenary.  However, if he sides with us and we lynch him last, would he still be able to switch sides at death so that he can win with the town?  I want verification that he can before I reveal my role and go along with the plan.

@Mod (SaberToothTiger):  If the semi-scum is the last scum player lynched, is he able to switch sides after dieing so that he wins with the town?
