DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Trading Question
« on: July 25, 2016, 04:44:17 pm »
Red indicates seized goods, which caravans won't buy.
uristMcTrader: why hello there good sir, may we intrest you in some of our fine goods? please do make note that we stole a whole bunch of stuff, allow me to show you each stolen good so that you know that we stole them even though there was nobody to see that we stole them and we stole them from the evles so it shouldent matter to you, a dwarven caravan.

but really, stolen goods should be* tradable, theres no way that they could tell the difference between a *oak wood cage* that i stole and a *oak wood cage* that i made myself.

* note that im saying that i think that it would make more sense if they could be traded. as of now you cannot trade them.

i use standard
tbh i dont really see much of a difference with forts that i have loads of goodies and forts where i only have one rock an anvil and one magnetite ore.

it only ever takes like 5 mins to get your fort up and running to sustain your 7 dwarves indefinitely.

the game only gets challanging when you have 80+ dwarves and there are nasties gushing fourth from every hole

273
I build all my archer towers like raised pillboxes.

Fully enclosed/roofed with no way out but pathing through the fort out the front door.

Dwarves can jump through fortifications now. So there is in fact another way out.

Intentionally? I haven't observed this yet. That's awful D:

if they cant path to the target any other way they will go through it.

its actually kind of impressive considering that ive always imagined fortifications to be a small hole in a wall, maby baseball sized

careful, while it is neutral to civilians, it will attack (on duty) military, and trained war animals.

tried that to aggro it once i had it secured, it dosnt care about on duty military

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: 0.43.05 for 32bit PCs
« on: July 12, 2016, 10:08:26 am »
there is none, 0.43.05 was upgrading the game from 32 bit to 64 bit.
the new versions will from now on be in 64 bit as 32 bit is for older versions only.

i would reccomend downloading ubuntu, its a free os that has 64 bit and 32 bit compatability

also might i ask why you have a 32 bit system when 64 bit is superior, and most 64 bit systems can run 32 bit?

Go to bay12games.com download and press "all versions". It is not true that the game is only 64 bit now. There still is a 32 bit version.

welp i completly missed that and now feel stupid

atom smash them or let them rot.

or you could try biological warfare by putting them all on top of a bridge and raising it so the bodies fly up into the air and land on your enemies

I do not believe you will get anything, unfortunately. This being said, you can still get megabeasts and such potentially. Sorry to tell you that you may be alone.

After about a minute of thinking, you didn't mention anything about humans. If there are human traders, then you can make them attack you by making them mad over and over. AKA: steal their stuff.

i do have humans, but ive never gotten them to come to my fort.
i only know i have them because i remember seeing them on the embark screen.

You have to produce/trade a certain amount to your home civilization before the humans appear. There are requirements, I think.

well thanks for the info

i asked the same thing ages ago, apparently its because they want to be entertained at your tavern before they go, and will idle around the meeting area if there isnt one.
they will go away eventually on their own

im realizing, since the GCS is completely passive it wont web anything, so i cant collect the silk.
is there a way to aggravate it?

282
axes have the highest contact area of native weapons, and your gonna need something to to get the undead to go down your hallway of glass serrated disk.

As said, the same thing has happened with trolls. Both trolls and GCS' are building destroyers, however, and they might look like they're just standing passively, while actually working on destroying something...

3 broken wooden doors later i shoved it in a trap and now im setting up the silk farm

Non-hostile wild animals is a known bug.

If you want to post a save (and optionally add it to the bug report) the best place to upload it is the Dwarf Fortress File Depot.
will do.
i will take advantage of this situation and capture it without any threat for free silk!

so i broke into the 1st cavern and there was a GCS, it wandered into my fort and its not causing any !!FUN!!
right now its sitting in a busy hallway with dwarves walking right past it without getting scared or attacked.
now this is actually the first time ive ever seen a GCS but the wiki lead me to believe that it would attack anything on sight with webs and biting, yet it seems completely peaceful.

im absolutely baffled with this and think it might be a bug. well duh of course it is, its a spider after all XD

so where do i upload a save to so others can take a look at it?
