The
ETERNAL SAGA (ooc) ic here

The result of a terrible conspiracy, one that aims to make me run a god game... It seems there is a Discord too

I. Introduction

God games, ah, god games... That game is one of such kind. Now to the proper introduction, ahem.

The birth of a new universe! What a thrilling event, attracting the eyes of many curious, ambitious, or bored entities of the higher planes. Now, universes aren't born without help. And more often than not, they tend to have titanic residents right as the new dimension is big banged into existence.

This is but another story of the saga. Quite an eternal saga, I must say.

The curtain rises on this episode of divine struggles.

II. Terms and Systems of the Multiverse

Spoiler: The Plane System (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: The Divine Classes (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Lesser Entities (click to show/hide)

III. The Divine One's Guide to the Universe.

There are two resources, Acts and Power.

Acts are used to do all kind of god stuff that requires some consequential amount of power.

When you are Incarnated into the Mortal Plane, you may use Power instead of Acts for certain actions. Power replenishes quickly over time when you rest in your realm. As a rule of thumb, Power is less powerful than Acts, and the most divine actions will require the use of Acts.

Each God has 10 Power, only useable when Incarnated. 1 Power may subsitute to 1 Act, and 1 Act may be converted into 2 Power. Some actions can't be realized with Power. When resting in your realm, you recover 5 Power.

Try not to confuse that with Incarcerated, that's probably not as funny.

A god without any act left will recover 1 Act on the next turn, if it has a Realm.
An incarnated god without any power left will recover 1 Power on the next turn.

Spoiler: Ownership (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: About Minor Acts (click to show/hide)

These costs are meant to be used as guidelines, and bar exceptions, they should remain unchanged. I do reserve myself the right to adjust a price on the fly if I want to.
Without reduction, 1 Power equates to 1 Act when incarnated.

Use these when creating Life, an Artifact or a Law.
Spoiler: Submit Sheets (click to show/hide)

And finally, the character sheet!

Mmh, that should overall be it. Will probably add more stuff if it crosses my mind.

Roll To Dodge / You are a Monster - Turn 63
« on: October 01, 2017, 04:23:34 am »
This is the world of Yaremos. A fantastical realm where roam many dangerous creatures. The humans call these creatures "Monsters".

In the far past, an extremely advanced civilization ruled the world. The cyclopean ruins and powerful artifacts they left behind are but a fraction of their lost grandeur. Yet one day, this civilization disappeared. What terrible event could have brought down such giants? No one know. And few are those who remember the existence of the Ancients, who are now mere myths among the common folks...

In the present day, centuries after the Ancient thrived, the humans still reign supreme over the world. Despite the dangers of the world, they have managed to create many countries: from small kingdoms to uncontested empires, there seems to be no limit to their expansion. It may be that one day, they will even tame Monsters...

But something started to change. What were once rumors and tales of crazed adventurers now are accepted as a fact. There is something causing Monsters to change, to evolve at an alarming rate. Countries are facing a crisis, settlements are being destroyed, kingdoms even. Some of the Abnormals are threatening kingdoms on their own. Some have been told to specifically target humans. And worse, some have been said to be gathering, and forming primitive societies...
A new era is brewing, the fate of humanity is hanging on a thin thread...

This is your story.

You are a Monster.

Roll To Dodge / Minimalist: The Reverse Karmic Device RTD (5/5) [Full]
« on: February 28, 2017, 11:25:46 pm »
Hello there! This is some sort of RTD to test a concept that has been on my mind for a while.

Rules:
[1] Critical Failure : it failed, and went Horribly Wrong.
[2] Failure : it just failed.
[3] Partial Success : it succeeded a bit.
[4] Success : it succeeded just within expectations.
[5] Critical Success : it succeeded in the most positive way.
[6] Overshot : it succeeded, and went Horribly Right.

Reverse Karmic Device:
1- Karma Points:
You start at 0 Karma. You will gain or lose karma depending on your rolls.
[1] -2 Karma
[2] -1 Karma
[3] Unchanged
[4] +1 Karma
[5] +2 Karma
[6] +2 Karma then -2 Karma

The Karma gained is five time the previous karma gained if you roll the same successive rolls.
ex: Rolling three [1]s in a row will lead to -2 -10 -50 = -62 Karma

The "Reverse Karma Device" allows you to manipulate your fate, as in your rolls by consuming Karma. You can only affect your own rolls.

2- Karma uses:
Each use of the Reverse Karmic Device is subject to a dice roll. This roll is unalterable a result from 1 to 3 will lead to the reverse effect, and a result of 4 to 6 will lead to the intended effect.

-Modify a future dice roll.
Cost -5 to 5 Karma Points, and will change the roll accordingly. No refund.
ex:
Using 1 Karma Point can decrease a future roll by 1.
Using -2 Karma Points can increase a future roll by 2.

-Force a dice roll.
Cost 10 Karma Points for a [1], [2] or [3].
Cost -10 Karma Points for a [4], [5] or [6].

-Force a random event.
Cost 5 Karma Points for a "negative" event.
Cost -5 Karma Points for a "positive" event.

Introduction:
The world in this game is magitech-y enough to have some gadget called a Reverse Karmic Device®. It's just a prototype though, one wonder how you got your hands on one.
Anything is allowed character wise, wormholes kidnapping individuals from other dimensions are commonplace in RTDs.

tldr: I will make stuff up as the game progress, if it progress enough to be worthy of seriously making stuff up :)

Turn 0 : Year 0 of the Zethean Calendar ~The Foundation of Zethe~

Zethean Fortress-Capital, Tartarus :

Tartarus, the Capital of Zethe. Built around an ancient fortress dating from the Gods era, this was were the kingdom of Zethe was officially created. It was not a coincidence that the King chose this place to build Tartarus.
Carved in the very heart of a mountain, this fortress formed a vast and complex set of ruins coursing through the earth.
Furthermore this place was connected to a locus of magical power, had access to water in both the form of underground and aboveground lakes and was a location inspiring an instinctive awe in the heart of all...

Under the cloudless starry sky laid the great coliseum of Tartarus. Filled to the brim with monstrous creatures of all origins, all acclaimed in a single united voice :
"Glory to Zethe ! Glory to the King ! Glory to the Monstrous Kingdom !"

Above them all, in a lounge overlooking the immense coliseum stood the King of Zethe, Radeus the Monstrous King. Though he didn't looked strong, all in his appearance exuded a feeling of power.

Standing at two meter tall, he wore a regal dark purple cloak to hide his pair of magnificent wings.
His head was adorned with two straight upright horns growing slightly above his temple.
His ebon skin contrasted with his ivory hairs, giving him an appearance of chaotic harmony.

But above all, there were his mystic golden eyes. Just looking at them could made one kneel immediately.

And with his voice that shook the very core of its listeners, the king said :
"Fellow Monsterkin, the creation of Zethe is only the first step that will lead us to the dream we all long for.
And I want to thank every one of you for putting his faith into my ideal. It is thanks to you that we can all proudly call ourselves Zetheans !
I know that together, we will create a country where all monsters will live in harmony.
I know that together we will change the world.
One day, all monsters shall work under the same banner, the banner of Zethe !"

And then a ground shattering clamor rose into the sky as all monsters present praised their king, carrying across the world the hopes of the first Zetheans...

(...)

A few hours later, in the throne room of Tartarus.

The throne room of Tartarus. Located in the heart of the mountain, this great hall held the seat of power of Zethe.
Built in a time long forgotten, the ceiling of this place was so high none could see it, giving off the impression of an infinite black sky.
In width and length, the throne room was also cyclopean in size. It was as if it was built for a race of giants.

Seated on a throne carved in the mountain itself, Radeus said to a small assembly composed of his first companions :

"My trusted companions. It's all thanks to you that we were able to create Zethe.
But our country is still a fledging one, and not every monsters of our lands have accepted my rule.
To stabilize our territory is a priority, we won't be able to unite the monsters of the world if we can't unite the monsters of our kingdom.

Thus here are my first orders to you.
Bring all monsters of Zethe under our banner.
And if you can't, crush them according to the law of the strong."

All bowed in respect and eventually left the throne room. They all gathered outside, on a balcony opening on the lake of Tartarus, the Lachero.
Supervising them was Endovar, the King's most trusted friend and advisor. His right hand.

Here they would decide their future courses of action...

NPC present :
- Endovar, King's Right Hand
- Other King's companions

[5] Having rolled a [1], you became the Top Block Text. You initially cursed your affliction, being forever bound to the Top Block to the eyes of all Rollers. But unbeknownst to all, this position allowed you to gather the power of all the RTD threads, dead, born and reborn, to finally attain a power above GMhood itself.
The mystic prophecy foretelling your return among mortals is coming closer. Soon, you shall be reborn and make the Universe yours.

LEGACY OF THE PROTEARCHS II(God Game)

OOC Thread

Prologue : The Survivors of Another World

Three divine entities stands in front of a four armed being exuding intense power.
Saraab, the Clockwork Golem, Kahn the Red Woman and Proelior the Armor of Million Blades.

Before them is Ekariot the Gatekeeper, Protearch of Gates.

"You are still young and immature divine ones. You world met an abrupt and regrettable end at the hands of the Ultimate One, and it even let you go. I can't fathom what it means, but my experience tells me one thing : your destinies aren't over yet, and whatever seed was buried into your souls, the Ultimate One has plans for you.
It wants you to flee and struggle.
So I will make you flee.
And you will struggle."

The ring floating behind him reforms in front of him, and a huge portal appears.

"Go, and fulfill your destinies."

The portal sends you to another world...

Main Turn 0: Welcome to a New World

You appear in a seemingly infinite and empty land. Like when you first opened your eyes. The sky is widely different from what you knew : this time, the sky is of gold and never stops shining. There is no sun. There is no day nor night. The land basks eternally in this golden light.

An image flashes in your mind. You see the World. This World.

(...)

At first, it seems like a flat plane of impossible proportions. It is actually as long as the diameter of your old World, which in itself was so massive you couldn't see the end of it. Then the plane turns around, revealing a chaotic and sharp underside, riddled with mountains and extremely high peaks.

It looks like an iceberg made of rock of stellar dimensions. It is enveloped in an orb made of Ether, protecting it from what could be beyond.

(...)

The vision finishes, and you wake up surrounded by 6 shifting orbs of Ether. From the 6 orbs are born 6 divine beings.

The Game Starts.
Every player starts with 10000 Energy and 500 Ether, except Saraab, Kahn and Proelior.

LEGACY OF THE PROTEARCHS II (God Game)

IC Thread

INTRODUCTION :

Protearchs. Supreme Entities, capable of bending reality to their will and crossing the boundaries separating the universes.

They are world-makers. Law-weavers. Life-shapers.

There exists a tradition in Protearchs world creation : they will travel to an empty Universe, sacrifice their bodies to create a mega-World and give birth to their descendants.

In time, those descendants would become as strong as them, reiterating the cycle…

And you are those descendants. You are Children of the Protearchs, and bear their legacy.

LEGACY OF THE PROTEARCHS (God Game)

OOC Thread

Main Turn 0: The World is Created

A lone cloaked figure is standing alone on a vast and plain land.

"The World we created. As of yet empty. As of yet nameless.

As I stand there alone, I can't help but marvel at the work of my companions.
A seemingly infinite expanse of featureless land.
A bright blue sky containing a blazing, shining orb of light.

But there is still nothing, for now.
Our successors are coming to existence, here they are."

A swirling torrent of divine Ether is storming in front of the strange figure. Gathering in different spots, beings emerge from the fire.

"Rise. Descendants of the Protearchs." says the figure.

"I am Ame, Protearch of the Soul and last of my kind. We brought you into existence to fill the World. I shall be your guide in this ordeal."

The Game Starts. Every player starts with 10000 Energy and 500 Ether.

LEGACY OF THE PROTEARCHS (God Game)

IC Thread

INTRODUCTION :

When we first came, there was nothing but oblivion. No darkness. No light. Only Void filling this infinite emptiness.
Here in the nothingness, we the Protearchs stood alone.
So we dreamt.
Feeding on the Void and our Ether, our dream took form.
One dreamt of Light and Darkness. So there was Light and Darkness.
One dreamt of the Elements. So there were the Elements.
One dreamt of Time. So there was Time.
Together, we dreamt of the World. Thus we became the World to unify the Dream.

And in our last glimpse before fading into the whole, we dreamt of our successors.

One of us was left behind, to guide them.

Me. Ame, Protearch of the Soul.

Hi fellow modders ! I would like to share some science I did today concerning inhaled syndromes.
The following post will demonstrate why syndrome application via boiling stones is unreliable, and uncover some interesting properties of gaseous substances.

It began with a quest to try creating a reliable way to apply inhaled syndromes.

Like many others, I begun by modding a reaction producing 100 boulder of a material boiling at room temp. I quickly realized that no matter the number of boulders, there wasn't a significant change : this is because multiple instances of the same gaseous material will count as one.

To work around this, I tried to increase the frequency of application by creating various clones of the same material. Using material_templates and a dummy creature, I created 100 clones of the material.

While testing this, the syndrome application frequency jumped significantly.
But I soon realized that the frequency stopped increasing beyond a certain point, freezing at something like ~20%. I tried to analyze the phenomenon step by step.

At each tick, I would use a reaction to produce a clone of the gas. Then the next tick, another clone, and so on. I then noted the results.

This is when I discovered some properties about gas and how they interact with creatures :

-When a creature is subject to a gaseous substance, it will "interact" with it on the first tick. When a breathing creature "interacts" with the gas, two results are possible : inhaling or not inhaling, both of which are respectively attached to the messages "caught in a cloud of" and "caught in a burst of".

-Then a second and only one other "interaction" will be possible. The second "interaction" HAS to occur before the "first interaction" can be re-applied. This is what render multiples instances of a gas useless.
You can also see the gas application as a syndrome that begin with the first interaction and end at the second interaction.

-Then I discovered that there is a minimal duration of 10 ticks before the second "interaction" can occur. Then there is another 10 ticks interval during which the second interaction can randomly occur.

Basically it gives that :

 I X X X X X X X X X X O O O O O O O O O O

I = First Interaction
X = No Interaction possible
O = Second Interaction possible

Now some properties about breathing :

-I discovered there is something we could call a "breathing tick". Which is the tick during which a breathing creature will inhale.
The very existence of the breathing tick is the reason why syndrome application via gaseous substances is so unreliable, and also why increasing the number of clones rendered my attempts useless : it only increased the probability that the dwarf will interact with the gas during the 10-tick "second interaction interval".

-What's worse is that the "breathing tick" is random. I didn't have enough courage to fully test this, but I got an interval of 30 ticks followed by one of 9 followed by another of <40.

Which overall means :
-gas inhalation is random
-inhaling is random
-syndrome application via inhalation is random and unreliable, and there is no reliable workaround.
