The Great War
Western Front

Turn 3

Quote from: PFC Brown
Fall down and pretend I'm dead.

[2] You fall to the ground, in a very suspicious way, guiding the sniper's eyes to look at you. [15] Luckily for you, you have bullet holes in you, so they assume you're dead.

You are seven ninths out of no man's land.

Quote from: John Doe
keep moving forward

[16] You pass over your cover and are in a relatively safe patch of ground between the barbed wire and the corpses of those unlucky majority. You still take some sniper fire, as you are no longer in complete cover. [13]/[5] The sniper is just awful at his job.

You are four ninths through no man's land.

Quote from: PFC Burnside
Continue the march forward.

You're now at the frontline. The CO is waiting there for this one more person to begin the next wave. Ready up for the charge!

You are in the frontline trench.

Hearing about the death of his father, PFC Silva, PFC Silva Jr goes to the front. He's now in the reserve trench.

Quote from: PFC O'Connell
Get down on the ground and crawl while taking pot shots at that sniper with the pistol.

[16] You get down onto your stomach and crawl forward at the speed of one of the heavies. Sniper tax [6]/[2] you narrowly avoid an early grave. You fire back [4]/[18];[6]/[18];[6]/[12] and miss every shot.

you are just over five ninths through no man's land.

Quote from: PFC Amatin
Move that bum bum, get to the trenches.

You are almost there.

Quote from: PFC Jenkins
Rush to the front line trenches

You are also almost there before you know it.

PFC Ramirez arrives in the reserve trench.

Quote from: PFC 'Sapper'
Charge forth! Take cover whenever possible. If said cover is inhabited by a german soldier, beat the snot out of him with the shovel.

Well, you charge forward. You're in the reserve trench, so you only make it to the front trench. Luckily, no Jerries here. Ready up for the charge!

Now that we have some form of stable tidal forces.

Begin crashing ice-laden comets into the planet's surface.

"Uh. That's just nasty. And a good indicator that nobody's been around for a while. I'mma go and pocket some scrap."

Pocket some small bits of scrap and but some of the bigger and more useful stuff in the back of the truck.

Crash a smaller planet into it.
You wanna knock a perfectly good Goldilocks zone planet out of solar orbit? x_x
Note that I never said where. Also, assuming we have a longer time before life begins, we can stand to accelerate it out of the goldilocks zone and into the freezing space between where earth currently is and where Mars is, so when the sun gets hotter later on, we'll be entering the perfect place. It also would increase the mass of the planet, add radioactive material into the core, and provide an extra kick-start to the lithologic cycle. And we'd have a good chance of making a moon like ours.

Turn 2

Quote from: PFC Brown
Keep running, but draw my pistol and take a few shots at the MG

[16] You run through the hail of bullets, leading the charge all the way to Jerry's trench. [11]/[3] Snipers are obviously just not having a good day. You fire your GlockColt 1911 [4]/[16];[13]/[20];[13]/[17];[10]/[19] and miss every shot. The MG gets sees an opportunity to fire at you whilst you shoot and [20]/[16];[14]/[10];[8]/[14];[15]/[11];[15]/[16];[17]/[18] are hit by the first, fifth and sixth, the first ricochets off your helmet leaving you a-okay, except the ringing in your ears, the fifth and sixth slam into your flesh unimpeded. [-70]

You are seven ninths of the way through no man's land.

Quote from: PFC Burnside
Begin the march to the frontline trench.

You get moving there, it'll be one turn 'til you get there.

You are halfway to the frontline.

Quote from: PFC Silva
Jump into cover. Shoot the MG guy.

[13] You find some decent cover behind a (Hopefully) dead comrade. Using him as a stand, you aim up the MG guy and [4] Miss. You must work the bolt to fire next round. The sniper [6]/[16] hits you [-70], killing you.

You are dead. Reinforce?

Quote from: PFC O'Connell
Keep running while shooting pistol at Machine gunner.

[15] You run along, passing landmines, jumping barbed wire, and [14]/[10] avoiding the snipers' potshots. You take aim with your pistol at the nearest MG and [19]/[17];[11]/[19];[14]/[6] hit two out of three bullets, killing the gunner immediately.

You are eight ninths through no man's land.

Quote from: PFC Daniels
Go to the nearest British trench and wait for orders

You're already here, you dumb sod! ((I assume you mean for the nearest frontline trench under British control)) [13] You go to there and await your officer.

You are in the Front trench.

PFC Jenkins is in the reserve trench. You know what to do.
Spoiler: What to do (click to show/hide)

Quote from: Derrière
Continue hauling ass, get closer to the enemy.

[12] You manage to not get blown to bits by a landmine, but get slowed a bit by the terrain. Not too much, but enough to be noticeable. [1]/[11] You are shot in the face by a sniper, immediately ending your life.

You are dead. Reinforce?

PFC 'Sapper' arrives in the reserve trench. You know what to do.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You're a PFC. And I wasn't expecting the Golden Gloves of yore. Since I didn't specify, I guess it counts.

Want in! Character is based on Call of Cthulhu Wasted Lands!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Edit: OOh! I instead of a bayonet, could have my Trusty Entrenchment Shovel? Id love to be able to bash someone upside the head with it. And i know that such combat was quite frequent in trench fights.

First Turn: Work up the courage to actually charge. Go forward about 20 paces, or until someone shoots at me, then hit the dirt. Rinse, wash and repeat.
You're also a PFC
Glad to see you get into the character creation, though maybe a tad bit too optimistic. The shovel, I'll allow it. If anyone else would rather have something else than the bayonet, PM me about it.
As for your first turn, I'll roll for your placement relative to the danger. You may end up literally in the middle of the field or just arrived at the reserve. I'll do your action once that is determined.

The Great War
Western Front

Turn 1

Quote from: PFC Brown
Charge!
[3] You are one of the first out of the trench, swept up in the rush to get out. Above the roar of shouting men and stomping boots, you hear the peal of sniper fire, the guy on your left takes a bullet to the shoulder, one of the ones just behind you takes one right to the brain pan, but, you [19]/[14] are spared from being hit by a round from the German rifles. As you cross into the middle of no man's land, you see the MGs of the enemy, right as they begin to open up.

You are about halfway across the no man's land.

Quote from: PFC John Doe
charge head for the nearest piece of cover.

[17] Being one of the last over the top, you are spared the brunt of the sniper fire. [19] You find a decent and almost perfect piece of cover, inside a bomb crater. MG rounds slam into the dirt behind you and whiz above your head, but your cover is sufficient to cover the massive explosive tank on your back.

You are about a fifth of the way into the no man's land.

Quote from: PFC Silva
Charge!

[16] You manage to avoid the death of suddenly going over the top, and waited for a second until it was easier to secure a ladder. [18]/[12]The snipers also were too busy dealing with the main attacking force to deal with you, much. [3]/[11] The MGs have the perfect shot on you,[18][15][10][5][6][1] They shot you twice and killed one of their snipers in their haste to reduce you to a bloody puddle. (-70 health)

You are about halfway across the no man's land.

Quote from: PFC O'Connell
Charge

[10] You are in the center of the wave. Not really safe from anything. [15]/[17] You are shot at by a sniper, [6] but he misses! The MG shoots wildly into the crowd, tearing chunks off of people, spattering their blood and gore onto everybody behind them. [3]/[17] You are not spared from this either. [8][2][6][1][14][11] You pull through however and manage not to get a single scratch. Lucky you.

PFC Daniels arrives on scene to see the wave of friendlies cross the no man's land. [18] For the moment you are able to go wherever in the entente trench you wish to go, on your way to the front line, that is. You will be given orders then.
You are in the reserve trench.

PFC Amatin arrives on scene to see the wave of friendlies cross the no man's land.[15] You are to move to the front. But, you will wait there until the CO arrives to give you orders.

Quote from: Derrière
Charge!!!
[20] You waltz into the no man's land almost completely unimpeded. The MGs are blind to you, as are the snipers. Of course this could change in a heartbeat.

You are one tenth of the way into the no man's land.

The deafening roar of MGs sounds out, like a great dragon breathing fire onto some brave knight. Some members of the wave are lying dead in the mud, some found cover from the MGs, some are still running.

Let us depart this place and look for breakfast.

610
((Isn't nationality just cosmetic?))

((To a degree. They'd have to have been in a practical place for the front. Like Portugal or Spain. To the best of my knowledge, the Greeks didn't participate in the trench warfare of France and I'm wanting some kind of accuracy in who would have been there.))

Turn 0

((Placement Roll))
S34N1C
[5/20] You stand in your filthy front line trench waiting for the whistle to blow for you to charge. The water table is above your trench's floor, so you stand on the fire stand to avoid getting your boots all wet and nasty.

NRDL
[3] You stand next to S34N1C, but aren't as fortunate in where you're standing. You are on the floor of the trench. It sucks.

flazeo25
[6] You are slightly better off than both of your compatriots, but still in the front line trench. You stand next to the wall of ladders.

MidJag
[10] You stand in a foxhole just in the front line. You're safer from incoming bullets, but not from artillery.

Slick
[20] Naturally, you're gonna keep your heaviest firepower in the back and not on the push. You are in the backup reserve trench. two whole trenches away from the front line.

Maegil
[5] You and S34N1C are rubbing shoulders on the Fire step.

You hear a loud, shrill shrieking of the Captain's whistle. "FIX BAYONETS! UP AND OVER, LADS!" He gives the signal for a charge at the enemy trench. A whole field of razorwire, landmines, and bomb craters lay ahead; about 400 meters in total.

If we're visiting Gallipoli, can we have Aussie diggers?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I meant at a later date I'd open another thread for the other fronts, and I don't think the Greeks fought on the Western Front. I'll keep that sheet till then, though.

I go East to reach the Western front.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I never thought about that. Nevertheless, anybody with a complete sheet is ready to go. And turn should be posted in about 45 minutes to an hour.

613
Yep. I'll work on turn tomorrow morning.

614
I'm fine with no items. It makes for a challenge on start.

615
Hey would someone new to the idea of forum games be alright?

Yeah. It's just that you shouldn't get too attached to any character. Otherwise, you're completely fine here. Also, don't be discouraged if games you're in die. Happens all the time.

Alright but would some kind of grenadier be okay? If not I'll just play a Heavy MG

I was thinking about something like that, but I had second thoughts about it. I'll work on it before I get first turn posted. Check the OP in the morning. If you don't like what you see, give me a suggestion over PM and I'll work with you on it.
