Forum Games and Roleplaying / Shadow the Hedgehog [Suggestion Game]
« on: April 20, 2017, 12:31:19 pm »

Intro

Shadow the Hedgehog is a non-linear third-person shooter released in the U.S on November 15th, 2005. The game is a Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off starring, who else, Shadow the Hedgehog. The game is the end of the two to three game story arc starting in Sonic Adventure 2 about Shadow's past. The game adds gunplay, vehicle driving, and a branching storyline to the Sonic franchise, though the game's attempts to be edgy through it's mild swearing and darker themes were not received well.

This game is a suggestion game, which is an adaptation of the game's plot to fit a forum game better. In addition to choosing which mission to do, I will also add the ability to make suggestions to Shadow's character through interactions with other characters. This will make the game more Mass Effect is at least the social aspect, but even though I do love Shadow the Hedgehog, I admit it could be better with not only this aspect, but some other improvements. Combat (which is needed for some missions and other encounters) will be decided with a d10. Rings act as shielding points to absorb damage, but otherwise, the different attacks will do what you expect.

Note: I will do a Let's Play of the actual game when I find a way to record Original X-BOX gameplay in good quality.

If the game lasts long enough, I hope to do three different routes with you guys. With that said, let's see who turns up. And if there's a good amount? Welcome to Westopolis.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / The Remnant Zodiac: A RWBY RP
« on: April 05, 2017, 03:09:16 am »
(If you have no idea what RWBY is, look up the Red Trailer and explore.)

It's Time to Say Goodbye.

Instead of my usual "Story" spoiler or the like, we're starting off rockin'! Greetings, Bay Watchers and Posters! See, my latest game, Chaos Chronicles, crashed and burned in a fiery explosion of complicated stat additions and a convoluted storyline (as you do). So, we're going to do something else: A "Who Are Our Avatars" inspired RWBY roleplay, inspired by not only WAOA, but also r/FaunusSensitivtyClub.

"Well, how will this work?"

Simple. Players have a character, be they Canon or Original, Hero or Villain, and they roleplay out Player and GM (and Player-GM) created story arcs, leading to wonderful continuity. With this game, I aim to make something quite enjoyable, if not original (which it isn't.)

"Whoa, whoa, Canon?"

Oh, yes. In addition to OCs of many varieties, players can also put forth the effort to play as characters from the beloved web series. You can be a new guy called Chase Alabaster, or be our lovable buxom blonde Yang Xiao Long, for instance. The only limit is your imagination someone else picking your character.

"This sounds...Chaotic."

Of course. But that's why I, the GM, am here to make sure order and (some semblance of) sanity remain and nothing too OP happens in the thread. However, in addition to dice rolling and refereeing, I will also play as well, with a character and all, and jump into other players' story arcs and such, though I will refrain from doing so until some people join in. Shipping and Character Death are allowed by default, but I might change the former if enough people ask.

And yes, there will be dice. Here are some rules for that:

Spoiler: Damage (click to show/hide)

Now, with all that said, let's get to the sheet template.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Chaos Chronicles: The Mad Libs RPG
« on: January 02, 2017, 10:52:00 pm »
Welcome, one and all, to the spiritual/literal successor to the (now cancelled) Forum Game: Zenith Concert. See, I was a player in that, but Supernerd (the original GM) had no time, it seems. So, I deciding to create my own version of it. Now, because I put two games on hold because running more then two games at once is suicide, it might seem odd that this a third one. Well, I pulled Shadow Lords back into the light, saying that I would update it on my own time, which I do anyway. Don't worry. It won't take too long.

What is Chaos Chronicles? Well, just like Zenith Concert, it's a game where players create a whole characters through fragments. Fragments consist of things like your character's name, appearance and class. This game's setting isn't made yet, and no basic plot has been planned out. That will be determined by your characters. Having many characters versed in Magic and sorcery will make it a fantasy game, while having characters versed in Hacking and Plasma Weapons will make it Sci-Fi. Zombies, Aliens, Slaver Cannibals. It all depends on who you make...but there's a twist.

See, characters are made through fragments, yet fragments...are swapped. Yes, a character may have a different everything. The name Forum Goer X creates might be given to Forum Goer Y's Character, who also has the class of Forum Goer Z's character, and the appearance of Forum Goer A's Character, and so on. There are two types of skills that Fragments can have:
Spoiler: Combat Stats (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Social Stats (click to show/hide)

Spoilers for each fragment down below, copy-pasted from the original because they are the same, save for some added ones and changes to stats. Fragments can have negative stats (STR: -2, for instance) so keep that in mind. Like the original, only 1-10 per fragment for each player and for God's sake PM these to me. Don't put them in the thread. Have some shock and surprise. Also, you may have options per fragment for incompatible ones.

X-COM: Enemy Unknown is a turn based strategy/sci-fi game released by Firaxis and published by 2K Games on October 2012. A re-imagining of X-COM: UFO Defense, this game pits a ragtag military group's efforts to combat an invading alien force. You play as The Commander; X-COM's leader who runs the R&D departments, along with the barracks, and whips them into shape to combat the extraterrestrials. By your side is Central Officer Bradford (X-COM's second in command.), Dr. Vahlen (a scientist who's methods leave everyone at the base scared.) and Dr. Shen (the kindly Asian engineer...who runs the Foundry and makes your Alien killing arms)

Enemy Within is an expansion pack released on November 12th, 2013 in North America and on the 15th elsewhere. This game adds two new aliens to the lineup, a new enemy faction made of humans supporting the aliens, and other cool features, including MECs, Gene Modding, and the return of Base Defense from UFO Defense. We're playing that.

After I put Mount and Blade on hold because I'm easily distracted, I decided to make a new LP, one that I could focus on and finish for once. So, I'm putting this game out. I play without mods, so don't expect stuff from Long War. I like to give Rookies, Promoted People, and Others (like DLCs and Mission Rewards) color-coordinated armor, and I've never finished a game winning. This should be fun. I'll also be playing with Progeny and Slingshot, and not with any tutorials. Also, I'll have the Second Wave options "Not Created Equally" and "Training Roulette", along with Ironman Mode, because I can own up to my failures. This will be either be a screenshot LP, or a video one. Depends on how much lag recordings show. It also may be Narrative in nature. I'll have to see. Anywho.

If you want to submit a character, give them a name, a gender, and whatever language you want them to speak. They can be you, a character of your creation, or a pop culture character. Rookies will be in White, Promoted in Blue, and S-Tier (DLCs and Mission Rewards) in Red. Psi Ops will be in Purple, Gene Mods in Yellow, and MECs in Black. Because I'm like that. I will create a character of my own, but the rest will either be default or you guys.

Creative Projects / The Earth IV Mythos: An Accidental Mythology
« on: December 12, 2016, 01:31:00 am »
Hello there, Creative Projects!

For a little context, a few years ago, me and my cousin created an unscripted and quite silly roleplay. Ghosts, doppelgangers, aliens, it was weird and yet awesome. Well, since the last roleplay we did (because time and such), I started turning loremaster and after a while, created a Mythos.

The background for the setting will be explored through each series I produce, but to catch your fancy, here's the main background info.

Spoiler: The Past of the Mythos (click to show/hide)

Now then, let's get to the series. This thread will be an outlet to get each series out, but I also want to use it for writing tips.:

Well...four games...this is gonna bite me in multiple places. Ah, well. I can always add this to my YouTube schedule.

Well, I have been inspired to create this via two different stories. Two different stories that'll make up what game this actually is.

First: RWBYQuest: A RWBY Suggestion Game/Comment Driven Story based on RubyQuest. Beacon is under attack by monsters. Because I love RWBY, this inspired me to make a RWBY Suggestion Game.

Second: The Life of a Wanted Changeling: Yes, an MLP Fanfic. It's not that bad, actually. It's really good at being flexible; that anything can happen so long as that suggestion works. That inspired me to put this out there; to release this to the public.

Now then, this will be a combination of normal SGs, and the flexible Life of a Wanted Changeling. If the Suggestion is voted up, then it happens. Sound good? If yes, then keep reading. If not, thanks for reading this far. Call the Psych Ward and tell 'em I need a new cell.

Every time enough suggestions (3-5) get voted up, I'll type up the "turn"...except it won't be a turn. It'll be a Chapter in a story. ...Yep.

Now, here's the first two "suggestions":

When will this game be set? (Volume One-Volume Three. The only reason I don't want Volume Four is because it isn't finished yet.)

Who will be our main character? (Our Ruby in RWBYQuest or our Bugze in Wanted Changeling. While we can influence or control other characters, this will be our hero/heroine in the spotlight)

EDIT: And then a couple of questions because I forgot:

Should the game use a die for decisions, or go on my whims?

Should I create any original villains or leave that up to you guys, or even just do the show's villains?

Also, this will be half-RWBYQuest...so anyone could die. Shipping is allowed so long as it's built up and everyone agrees. The direction of the story is everyone's responsibility.

Greetings, Gamers across the Globe! This is Greatness942, and that was my Youtube intro. For a video based Let's Play thread, you'll be hearing that a lot.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Mount and Blade: Warband is a medieval roleplaying simulation/sandbox game produced by TaleWorlds Entertainment, released on March 30th, 2010. The game is a standalone expansion to Mount and Blade, adding a new kingdom known as the Sarranid Sultanate (a desert based Kingdom) to join the first game's kingdoms (The Nords, the Rhodoks, the Vaegirs, the Swadians, and the Khergit Khanate, and also added multiplayer along with other general improvements. The game was received favorably, and there's a sequel coming out soon as a prequel to both the original game and this, known as Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord.

So, as I was about to start a New Game to play through the actual game again, a thought occurred to me, or hit me like a tanker truck, I forget. What if, I not only swore loyalty to only the Kingdom my character goes to at the start, but was also a criminal and warmonger to every nation except my home Kingdom. In other words:

My Kingdom (Sarranids, Khergits, Nords, Swadians, Vaegirs, Rhodoks) vs. the Five Others, via my actions. Oh yeah.

So, since I brought up the idea of a Let's Play, I thought this made sense to bring up here. I have 3 Forum Games already, but since this will be connected to my channel, it will be easier to do.

Now for the disclaimers followed by the character you guys wanna see go through this.

So, 3 games at once. This will get interesting...

So, I've been playing the new Shadow Lords mode for Killer Instinct 2013...a lot, and I thought "Why not give it the Dead Rising 2 treatment?"

For those of you who have no idea what Shadow Lords actually is, this article should give you a good idea. I mean it, if you have no idea what Shadow Lords actually is, read that article, it'll save you a couple of headaches later.

Now, I'm assuming you read the article, so let's get down to Mechanics to avoid the Dead Rising 2 Triple Post.

Spoiler: What is Shadow Lords? (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Combat (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Game Modes (click to show/hide)

So, if enough people join in, I'll start a poll to see which game type gets chosen, and we can get started.  :D

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Dead Rising 2: The Forum Game (3/3)
« on: September 23, 2016, 06:46:56 am »

I'm sure you guys know what Dead Rising 2 is, right? If you don't, it's essentially "Let's take a zombie outbreak, and throw in a motorcyclist who is pretty much obsessed with Duct Tape and his infected daughter." As you can tell if you do know what it is, that isn't the strangest idea in the world. What you will notice no matter what is the name of the topic and the board it's been submitted at. Yep. I wanna try the most ambitious Forum Game idea I've thought of: turning a video game...into a forum game!

...Yeah, okay, I guarantee someone else has at least tried something like this, but if it crashes and burns, then it does at least having been attempted, and that's something, right? Now then, onto some obvious questions.

Q: Where on Earth did you get this idea?
A: A homebrew Tabletop RPG I play with my cousins. We're going through a comedic Star Wars campaign when the thought of my favorite Psychopath battle from this game (who I will get to), set to an RPG with more options, struck me. Since we haven't done that campaign in a while due to location, I thought of a different approach to it.

Q. How will this insane concept work?
A. See, normally I would be coy and just say that you should wait and see, but you can't sell a seafood restaurant to people with one dead fish. I did have a demonstration, but in trying to get it all put together, I grew increasingly frustrated with the tool I was using to do it (which I will say if anyone asks) so I put it away. I may just post the map like so:

and merely track player position in the character sheet, as well as weapon and zombie locations in separate sheets. Not a great way to track 3 characters, so I'm open to any suggestions.

Q. Um, Greatness? Chuck Greene is alone in Dead Rising 2, save for some of the survivors. Can you count, and if not, why are you still here?
A. Yeah, well, when I came up with this game, I had the thought of doing a suggestion game, where players could just control Chuck through the game. It would have silly chaos (which I love), and it would be accurate, since we're playing as Chuck. However, as I merged this with the RPG idea, I came up with this idea: what if 3 of the survivors took it upon themselves to find out the cause of the outbreak? I am open to the idea of a Suggestion Game, but I think it's a good idea.

So, if you guys are interested in this vague concept and wanna see it actually be something...well, um, post I suppose. Along with that, I do have a question for you.

Q: If this game does happen, would you want it to take place in the canon of the original Dead Rising 2, or the canon of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record?

Survivors (3/3):
Joachim Nix (NRDL), Samuel Ashwood (Hawk132), James Vancoy (Chromatic Wisp)

Potential Survivors (2/Infinite):
Reserved Spot (TheBiggerFish), Hans Kramer (S34N1C), Leshawndra Dawkins (wipeout1024)

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Wiki Warfare: Cataclysm
« on: March 28, 2016, 11:43:57 pm »
Spoiler: Story (click to show/hide)

Bit long winded, but it works. Welcome to my 3rd ever forum game, and the first forum game I'm GMing on Bay12! I've gotten permission from TCM, who is currently GMing a Wiki Warfare that I'm playing, and still will play, to do this. The only thing I have to do is make it different, so I've added two things, and have changed 2 others!

Change #1: I'm adding a storyline that will be affected as the rounds go on, and the world gets progressively ravaged by the war. The story above is the end result, but things that change within the game will be affected by past games. E.G.: Increased security, weapons checks in populated areas, Natural Disasters spontaneously appearing due to past events etc.

Change #2: There will be a rotation of 4 game modes for each round, which will be decided by the roll of a D4. They will be:

  • Deathmatch: Kill off everyone else. No respawns.
  • Team Deathmatch: Kill off the enemy team. No respawns.
  • Boss Battle: All 10 players will have to work together to take down a Super-Difficult Boss. If the Boss is defeated, all players win, though the player who lands the final blow will gain the winner's prize. No Respawns.
  • Collection of Anomalous Material: Within the area there is an artifact that Mr. Warner would like for his collection, and if you nab it for him, he would be appreciative. Simply put, search for and take the Artifact from the area, and report to an Escape Vehicle for exfiltration. Respawns allowed.

Change #3: Prizes. If you win the gamemode, you will get a prize, which will shape future rounds. One of 3 prizes will be provided:
  • Wish: You will gain a wish from Jaws that allows you to shape the world. No instant wins, of course, but things that could make the next game interesting. E.G. Wishing for Lightning, so that a massive thunderstorm will engulf the next area.
  • Location: Picking this prize will allow you to manipulate Jaws' Magic, allowing you to select the next location. Like with randomization process, it can be anywhere 10 people can fight in, which can be anywhere from Moscow, Russia, to the Death Star, to Alcatraz.
  • Items: Like with the location prize, this prize will allow you to pick 1-2 articles, rather than having them randomized. Want Cloud's Buster Sword, or maybe RWBY's Crescent Rose, or perhaps the weapons and 4th wall breaking insanity of Deadpool? This prize will allow you access to things you may not wanna wait to see if you get.

Change #4: Sub Wikis. The change that I thought of 1st. Now don't get me wrong, I like-no, LOVE the fact that TCM only uses Wikipedia Articles, because it means less chance of a snub article, and thus more items and stat boosts that can be attained. However, this will also make this game more unique by having more substance in individual characters and locations from the work I sub-wiki. Besides, Main Wikipedia Articles will still be active, so having articles based on TV Tropes is entirely possible.

And with that, that's all the changes. Everything else will similarly to TCM's game(s). D10 for rolling during the conflict, 10 players, 5 articles per player. First Randomization will be the location. Killing someone allows for Kill Absorption, though how many articles you absorb I'm unsure of.

And with that, let's wait and see what comes up!

EDIT: Now with 48 hour Update Timer.

EDIT2: Discord will only be linked when someone asks. Expiration and all.
