Amazing, forgot I even started this, will add your name to the player list, and thanks for playing!

Been meaning to give this a whirl, and I have time this weekend, so fuck it. It's about time to add my own drunken idiocy to this mess. If no one has claimed it before then, I'll live stream on Sunday

3
Nice. Always glad to return to this amazing gem of a fort

4
Nice to see some work being done to continue/preserve this monument to dwarven culture. You're doing Armok's work laddie

@TheImmortalRyukan any news? Two weeks have passed and I've been waiting patiently (which means I was hitting the refresh page button at least 3 times a day)

Bah, work and school, same issues as always. The three days I had planned for this were taken up by me trying to fix the crashes... I'm afraid I don't have the time to finish my turn right now. I'll still be open for a turn later, when I have time tho. Sorry :(

@TheImmortalRyukan i tried a few things and let the game run afterwards until mid Hematite, it didn't crash again:
- I turned off animal caretaking for our only animal caretaker Edem Kaluritan (he's a gem cutter)
- I slaughtered the two remaining Jabberers

Maybe it is enough to just disable the caretaking. Here is the alternative safe file after Jabberers were slaughtered: https://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=16054
If you play from here on you'll have to deal with some jabberer skin though. Also, Reg is still in prison probably starving soon.

I'm not sure who Reg is or why they're in prison (or that we *had* a prison), but thanks! Quite a nasty surprise seeing all the undead and opening up the C menu :o

So guys I'm sorry, but I don't know why my game keeps crashing. I get this message that a Jabberer has reverted to a wild state

I order the military to kill it

Then right as they kill it, the game crashes. Like, I get one day in, and that's it :/

I'm using the latest version of the LNP, if that helps any

Sorry for the late post, but I've been busy this past week. However I am off work the next two days, so I can actually play more than a few days.

Alrighty, I have downloaded the save, I'm having to use ASCII, Armok help me. I open up the save, and I can't tell what the fuck is happening. There appear to be about five times as many undead as there are living dorfs. I am going to continue on the assumption that the fort is sealed nice and tight and we aren't under any sort of emergency. The fact there are just over 60 living dorfs in a fort this age can't mean anything good. Alrighty lads, I'm in charge now, and that means shitty management while I conscript everyone to work on some useless project!

My only things I can think of to optimize to get anywhere close to 1/10th of this:

1.Advanced parameters
1a. Make it a pocket sized world as small as possible with the entire environment regions that dwarves can't normally inhabit like deserts
1b. Allow one dwarven civ allowed and no others. No megabeasts or anything either and you'll only have the dwarven capital city spawn and nothing else
1c. Turn off cavern levels, hfs, etc as they clutter the map with creatures and fps drags

2. I'd embark on a slightly smaller setting, but not too small otherwise you can't fit the dwarves to come. If possible I'd pick a mirthful biome. The sunshine alcohol seems to be good at pacifying dwarves in my own notes, but any biome will do
3.Pick either the surface level or the dirt level immediately below it and plan to convert it into a massive farm that'll use most of the map
4. Cut down on traffic through a caste system. Farmers only farm, for example, and they're trapped in their own area so they can't even potentially path around.
5.Use legends viewer and identify if there's any towers, werebeasts or vampires. If there's a tower you're gonna wanna wipe them out for fps and take their books
6.Incrementally convert dwarves to the immortal class in question and imprison them in squares where they can go helplessly mad.
7.Maintain a "pure" dwarf social class that exists solely for breeding and enjoying alcohol and prepared meals in a small area. Just enough space to fulfill needs and you can convert off spring who aren't going to continue in the breeding program into immortal prisoners

Rack up the years as your prison-paradise slowly expands to the bottom of the earth uninterrupted by monsters or caves. Soon enough your caste system will become obsolete as you only need a class to produce food and alcohol and another to consume and mate. And as you identify your mating class and optimize their time you can eventually balance them with the producer class and just outright remove one of those classes and imprison them as immortals leaving you with a small number of dwarves that actually move and reproduce(who are later imprisoned as they age too much with one of their descendants taking over)

EDIT: Tbh if they're in 1x1 prisons you can have an extra small map that extends to the bottom of the earth. No caverns so it's just straight stone that is easy to carve in a way that is efficient

This seems like it could possibly work. Anyone willing to try it? I am severely interested to see how far we can make it in this challenge

Oh good lord, PTW, if only to learn how too optimize my own forts

12
Goddamn it still lives. I am almost tempted to take a stab at it.

In the spirit of Succession Games, I would like to humbly submit my application to be the the next Overseer without having read anything except the OP and the three posts on this current page.

About time I get back into the game anyways!

Awesome stuff. Yeah caves and ore generation have been tweaked a bit in the latest updates.

Didn't envision my monument turning into a totem, but I ain't complaining.

Alrighty, That's turn 2 done with, the save is open to whoever wants it!
