Play With Your Buddies / Minecraft: The Succession World - Day 16
« on: June 23, 2022, 12:24:14 pm »

Not sure if this has ever been done before, it probably has, but here is my take on it: a Minecraft Succession World.

Each player takes 5 in-game days within one IRL week, and then passes the save along to the next player in line. Nice and simple. Screenshots and write-ups are a must have.

The Rise of Gondor
A Community Succession Game

We are Gondor!
Our lands stretch from Mordor to the Western Sea, our fiefs remain unstricken by any machinations of the Dark Lord and vivid is the light of Minas Tirith, the Tower of Guard that shines brightly in us all.
The flame of Númenor still burns in our hearts when we see the White City, and pride still blooms in those that march to the defense of the West.
Our blood keeps other lands safe from the depredations of Mordor, and, with its full weight fixed upon us, we hold our lines and know our wars are not for nothing, yet, ever still, we bleed.

Much has been lost of our Kingdom, much that once was, and we weep for it.
No blossom upon the White Tree, where the Fountain Court keeps its watch, and the Stewards have fought without relent, to retain what was once the flower of the Kings of Númenor.
The blood runs thin amongst our people - only in few lives the legacy of Númenor, and middle-man is weaker than ever.

Secret despair feeds our dreams, yet we do not count it during the waking hours - for the light keeps the cowardice of the Orc from our walls and the White City shines still, even as it slowly crumbles.
Its defenses are undermanned, but indeed we still have much faith in the strength of man and stone.
Strong walls and brazen gates are our defense, even if our forces fail, and surely the Red Arrow and the beacons - both or either will bring the old alliance with the Horse Lords of Rohan to a tumult, and they will ride to our aid.
With the forces of the Southern Fiefs, the mainstay of our army and Rohan's bright riders, how can we truly let go of our hope, for it is what sustains us in these bleak times.

All is not lost, and we are mightier than many think or even many know yet.
My heart swells to see our strident grace Lord, and the men drink with cheer at the sight of the Steward of Gondor!
Could we break the lines of Mordor, crush the advances of the Southrons and burn Umbar? We could do more than that with hope, the steel of our hearts and the leadership of a great man.
In old walked Dúnedain; giants among men, but that does not mean our backs are less straight, that our hearts are less courageous, and that we are doomed by the failing of simple blood.
Take us to our destiny, Steward of Gondor lead us to WAR!!

Welcome to Rise of Gondor, a new succession game for Third Age Total War - Divide and Conquer. We play as the Kingdom of Gondor, long fallen into disrepair despite the efforts of the Steward Denethor, and we will attempt to fulfill the campaign victory conditions of eliminating Mordor, Harad, and the Ar-Ardunaim. The Save will be passed along from player to player, each playing 5 in-game turns (number of turns may be changed as the game progresses). There will be an honor system of trusting players enough to not cheat, but please refrain from using the console window.

Spoiler: Rules (click to show/hide)

Feel free to sign up for a turn down below, the list of players will be kept tracked here:

Each Turn will be summarized here with a shortcut to the beginning of that turn in the thread, for ease of reading:

Likewise, all saves will be stored here for ease of access:

Here's to a great game and hopeful victory!

There is a legend among our people.
Of a group of dwarves in a dying land, who built a home in a last ditch effort to preserve their civilization.
Their tale begins in the Licevaathira, the Legendary Plane.
What follows is their story.

Welcome to Runlance! While relearning the game in Adventure Mode, I figured I might as well play in Fortress Mode too. This is a Succession Fort, so all the normal rules and procedures are in place. One week turns, one in-game year, no deliberate fortress ruining, ect.

The world is a pocket sized world with 1500 years of history and an above average number of Megabeasts and Titans. All non-Goblin civs are dead, and the Goblins too only number around 1400. So the dwarves we start out with and receive with the two hardcoded migrations in the first year are all we're gonna get. Dwarves are our number one commodity.

Spoiler: The World (click to show/hide)

This Succession Fort will also have a long term goal: to reach a population of 200 Dwarves living in the Fort. Maybe unrealistic, but it gives us something to work towards.

May the Dwarves of Runlance prosper and their beards never dry.

The Journal of Mel Citupuji
15 Granite, 350

I made my decision today. Mother and Father won't approve, they'd rather I stay in town, marry some random guy, and continue the family carpentry business. I can not say I am overly thrilled with that prospect, so I have packed my bag, bought a bundle of cheap equipment, and today I set out from home. I must admit, I have never even left Town before, and only have the vague retellings of the merchants to fill me in on the world at large, but I want to learn, to see with my own eyes.

Maybe Mother and Father may forgive me one day, maybe not, but I don't care. The world lays before me. I shall write again when I make camp tonight.

   Until then,
      Mel

So it's been a while hasn't it? I must admit, I have not followed DF's progress in several years. Sure I've done a few Succession Forts and played a few turns, but I've been increasingly blind to all that has been added, especially this latest Villain Update. So, I figured what better way to rectify this than to play in Adventure Mode, essentially blind.

Here is our first victim adventurer!

I'll keep playing until I die (a very likely scenario), and will most likely pick up another poor soul to run around with! I have no schedule for this, and will play whenever I feel like it, though if you guys pester me enough, I'll update. My motivation is shot being in Uni and working a fulltime job, so feel free to poke me with a stick every now and then. I swear I'm having fun! Now taking bets on how long this first Adventurer lasts

It is the year 2072
The discovery of the Roddenberry Wormhole has galvanized Humanity
The leading experts and engineers have studied this anomaly
With newfound vigor, humanity has spent years building a new ship
A ship unlike any other, the Reliant
But what was meant to be a short mission to and from, turned into disaster
The Wormhole began to collapse, and before the ship could return, it closed
Now stranded in unknown space, the Crew of the Reliant must do everything they can to make it home...

- * - * - * - * - * -

Welcome to the Voyage of the Reliant, a new CYoA story by yours truly. Like all CYoA stories, there will be chapters written each "turn" and will end on a decision for the players to vote on. Whichever decision is voted on will be played through the next chapter, and rinse and repeat. However, this Story will also have a random element to it with Dice rolls for most actions taken by the crew and ship. This is to raise the stakes and take away any certainty that might be assumed from an action.

Spoiler: A few Rules: (click to show/hide)

Each Crew Member will have their own primary Skill that can be used to increase the odds of success for different tasks, as well as unique personalities and mindsets. All players are free to write journal entries for the character as long as they do not contradict written canon or their personalities.

The wind blows across the craggy hills, chilly as it ever was
The stars and sky shielded by an unnatural fog
The creaking of wheels, the soft bellowing of the pack animals, and the crunch of gravel beneath seven pairs of feet echo dimly through the fog
The lead figure suddenly holds his hand up, and the small group halts.
He looks down at his map, soaked from the wet and barely able to read it
This is the place

"We'll set up here. Tie up the animals and grab the picks. This is our new home."
A screech is heard in the distance...

Roll To Dodge / Neo Terra

Neo Terra

It has been an eternity since they came. Great mountains that fell from the sky carrying doom within them. The Empires of the past used weapons of immense destruction to finally drive them back and defeat them, but they themselves were destroyed by their own weapons.

The World was forever changed. The monsters that came from the sky still roam the Earth, some great, some small, but always dangerous. Few monsters are ever alike. They are the products of man's worst nightmares. Fast, intelligent, and always hungry.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The World is a ruined wasteland, the clouds of poison released by the Ancients in their desperate defense still linger over the world. Their great cities standing in solemn reminder of humanity's past greatness.

Humanity still survives amidst their ruins however, and nations have emerged from the ruin time and again, but they never last. Few things last in Neo Terra.

Welcome to Neo Terra, a Massive cross-platform RTD years in the making. The Lore behind this game has been hammered out over the years in the Discord. We are still in the process of world building, but we have decided to finally start this long awaited Game once again.

The Game will take place mostly on the Discord, but this thread will be updated with each turn for those who don't wish to join and to merely spectate. The Game has already started and a Prologue has already been played and finished. Anyone wishing to join the gameplay still can, just head on to the Discord and create a Character Sheet.

We also are in the Process of creating a Wiki for this Vast World we have built, feel free to check it out and help with the upkeep: Wiki Link

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Sleeping Rain: Weapon Usage
« on: January 20, 2019, 10:52:10 pm »
So, idk if this has been reported yet or anything, but I apparently embarked on an evil glacier that only rains the cure to insomnia. It knocked all my Dorfs out within the first second and I was prepared to just quit, but I stayed and soon enough, they all woke up no worse for wear.

Just think of the weaponization properties of this!

The Dwarven Republic

So I'm starting a new Succession game using Discord as a base. The kicker is, its a democratic Succession Game, so alot of madness is expected to ensue. The "Constitution" of the Republic is found on the Discord itself, but feel free to inquire anything here if you're unsure of joining.

Here's the Discord Link

The players will post their updates here for the benefit of those who aren't apart of the Discord, but be aware that all the dorfings and lore will take place in the Discord itself.

Welcome to the Vault

In the year 299, the King of the Magical Crypts ordered for the construction of a sealed Vault.
His claim was that in doing so, no matter what befell the Dwarven Kingdoms and peoples, dwarves would always live on.
So, in the early Spring of the year 300, 7 dwarves were sent out to begin construction of their King's dream.
They were given 5 years to build the vault and seal themselves off from the outside world for all eternity.
So begins the story of Stonelock: The Fiery Vault

Welcome to the newest Succession fortress. The goal is clear, our King has ordered us to delve a secure Vault in this Volcano. This is no easy task to begin with, but we have a mere 5 years to do it.
