Hi Taffer,

If you ever see this I have ported all of your creature descriptions and some of your edits :)  I plan on porting more of the features as modular mods.

Im trying to update some of Taffer's old stuff and im hitting a roadblock.

You can't use [select] on c_variation_default, so how do you edit broadly animal people?  For example, to add [CV_REMOVE_TAG:LAYS_EGGS] so animal people don't lay eggs.

Or to edit an attack like TALON_SCRATCH_ATTACK to make it deadlier

You can't even cut and replace this file without cutting the entire creature folder it looks like??? or am I misunderstanding?

Hi, is this still being worked on? I really really loved Taffer's old mod and wonder if any progress has been made. Mainly I want the flavor changes.

Either way, thanks for the long time of support. I loved this mod and taffers back in the days.

All I want for Christmas is the ability to put this tileset on the premium version. The classic ascii option works but putting tilesets on top of it failed horribly when I tried earlier.

whenever we get the ability, I plan on installing taffer again and never looking back :) Iv been using this probably since 2012 when you posted the topic. to me it IS vanilla df haha.

When I was in college I unironically failed an exam period due to dwarf fortress specifically. Circa like 2014. It's a real danger


It was horrible and tbh and the steam version is just as soul consuming and addictive as classic, if not more so due to some of the new features

I'm necroing this thread to ask if you are still actively modding and if you plan to port anything to the steam release?

If not I'm going to have to update a bit for myself haha. I adore your biome mods specifically and have played many forts using it.

Anyway just was taking some time to thank my favorite modders for all the free entertainment you've provided me over the years in addition to tarn and toady. I talked to you a few times on discord or wherever it was and I'm pretty sure you helped me a ton with this mod and some tiny custom stuff I was trying to work on

I just about jumped for joy when I read you are following DF to steam. Iv played with your mod off and on for many years now. I think at one point you added a rhinoceros man to the mod because of my playthroughs where I was hoarding lead tablets and seeking every artifact

I don't get online much but Im hype to get this mod when it drops. Most of my favorite forts and adventurers ever involved this mod.

Hi Taffer,

Iv been using your tile set and vanilla mod for probably as long as you've been making them haha, I think I got the tileset in particular many many years ago and couldn't play DF any other way. I am legitimately depressed that the game has graphics set now and I can't use your beautiful tiles or let your beautiful descriptive words carry me through the game. Il get over it but it's a real feeling.

If you don't update the descriptions at least I will probably have to find a way to update it myself for personal use later!

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks and remind you people love your work. The tilesets and the mods. If you ever do update il be first in line

this is such an underrated mod. i literally cant play anymore without this installed. just came by to say this. iv talked to you before but i just want you to know i still play with this and the caves mod on every install. the stuff in this mod should be in the vanilla game. i dont use your main mod just because im not 100% into the multitudes of other races even tho its well done.  these are my bread and butter tho

Re: above conversation, i would kill to have these changes put into the vanilla game.

Im so addicted to this mod I cant play any fortress without it, which means I essentially cant use other mods that ever touch vanilla files LOL. it would save me a lot of effort if most of this would just be vanilla! This plus your latest tileset is the first thing I look for after an update.

Really though thank you. The descriptions are wonderful, the slight changes to combat are fantastic, the bugfixes are much needed. how can i go back to forts without feather tree eggs after tasting the forbidden fruit?

I really love this mod and use it in all my forts. But there are still some things that confuse me. Like I dont know what half the creatures its allowing me to buy on my embark screen are and havnt encountered them in the caves. Is there some masterlist? Looking in the raws really doesnt help me understand, probably because im bad at reading raws haha. I just want to know which of them are good fighters or give a good resource and such.

Same with the plants. Underberry and Stenchbloom i still have never seen in the wild

Kinda sad to see this hasnt been updated. I really like using the animal people for more things in world gen in general.

In my ideal world, this and Taffer's "Revised" would both be in the vanilla game haha.

Anyone tried to revive this? or does it work as is without too many problems in 47.04?

Should I install this mod OVER your main mod or vice versa if I want to use them together with cave mod?

Updating them now. realized i had old releases of everything heh. I dont remember how I did this last time.
