I had a dwarf take a fireball in the brain from a fire imp.  he was otherwise un hurt pretty much.  he has a few yellow wounds from burns and a grey brain wound.  is he a vegetable now? or will he get up and just not be quite right?

No, spend all your points.

If I start on a map with magma I will keep my starting anvil because I don't have to go through the BS of fuel production, if I don't have magma I'll ditch it because I won't have the dwarf-power to spare to make fuel until after the immigrants come.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Unexpected Surprises
« on: July 01, 2008, 08:55:00 am »
My favorite pleasant surprise happened one time I started a fort in a haunted river.  At the start I hit U to see what's lurking and see a pack of about a dozen beak dogs, I zoom in on them and they are just around a bend inthe river from where my dwarfs are.  crap, I think, I draft all my dwarfs and brace for impact pretty sure this fort is going to end before it begins.  I wait and wait and wait, I scroll through the map to wherethe dogs started and fine a bunch of blood near the water and then I notice the river is red...  sometimes zombie hippos and fish are a good thing.  I hastily constructed a wall and pretended like nothing had happened.

When you embarked did you make sure you had goblin neighbors?  I've done that before and kicked myself.

Because sadly it had a short print run and those who bought it hold it to it like a treasured family hierloom.  you will have better luck on ebay or amazon.

regardless, penguins are cool.  it would be hillarious to no end to be killed off by a hoard of undead penguins.

This is a finely crafted milk chocolate table.  It is engraved with the image of dwarfs and poppets, the poppet is burning, the dwarf is laughing.  it is decorated with pieces of muffin and candie cane.

F'ing awesome if that ever happened.
