Ah well, it doesn't need to be DF, or even mods for that matter. Just look up pictures of pandas on imgur and hyperlink them into your signature. It's not like anyone reads them anyway.
I do.
Then you are a greater man than I. Perhaps largely because I am a cat.

Though I can see you have taken my wise advice and have included some shameless self advertisement.
It took quite a bit of time to make actually. It might not be original but I'm proud of it. It

Oh, don't take it as an insult (that is if you did). I was referring to that it was self advertisement, not that it may have been made in 15 minutes.

Perhaps you could write a sig on what exactly your profile picture is. I've been looking at it from every angle and am still clueless as to what it is, that is, if it is anything at all.

This seems like a pretty interesting game. Anyway, just a suggestion for wanting to keep the player moving. Another way could be to simply give diminishing rewards for grinding enemies for too long, have lessened experience gained or none at all after a while. After all, slaying 10,000 rats or bats or whatever does not a skilled warrior make, only a ninja pest exterminator.

Alternatively, you could make a bunch of DF mods that took less than 15 minutes to make and do nothing noteworthy at all, then shamelessly advertise them in your signature.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Well and underground animals
« on: May 16, 2016, 12:54:36 am »
1.) You do not require an empty z level between the well and the source. However note that, if the water source freezes, then having the well directly over an ice block will cause it to break (unlikely to be a problem due to your lake being underground).

2.) Animals that can climb may be able to get into your fort, also creatures that can fly. There isn't really anyway to combat this without building a separate blocked off reservoir, as grates and such block the well's bucket.

If you want a blocked of reservoir, it can be as simple as a pool connected to the lake which can be blocked off from the cavern with a drawbridge (doors and floodgates may be destroyed by some creatures).

Also note that if the water is only 1 z-level thick and it is muddy, then the water you draw from the well will be laced with mud, which will make dwarves unhappy. If it is two z-levels or more having mud on the bottom won't matter.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Bronze Colossus

So migrants. Yeah you can imagine how well that played out. But if you tought that they all were slowy slaughtered by the colossus you are wrong. There were 5 or 6 guys in that wave (my fort is almost at population cap) and one of then was a ranger with a quiver filled with steel bolts, turns out that a crippled colossus is very slow, and that steel bolts are good at fracturing bronze. Welp that's that. Whoever this is still less humiliating that being decapitated by a bunny trown at your face.

Wait, so is it dead?

324
It seems the solution is to have sufficiently sturdy bridge materials to combat burning, and also to keep your dwarves happy (which you should be doing anyway).

325
Bridges are immune to being broken by any and all building destroyers. However I believe that they can be destroyed by dragonfire and sometimes magma if they are not made of materials with a sufficiently high melting point.

I've never had a dragon flame a bridge though so I cannot confirm.

I would try the cage trap strategy but if I open the entrance of the fort to build some traps he's going to path in to it and !!FUN!! is going to happen.
I have encountered one before, I would try to wait for a merchant caravan to show up, and hope they brought some guards. That should soften him up. Then equip your military with hammers. Although cant you cage trap a collosus?
That sounds like a plan, but if the colossus slaughters the entire caravan won't that start a war with the civ from where this caravan originated ?

Only if it happens many times. One slaughter should be fine. Besides, if their army comes then you have a 40 foot tall bronze behemoth to protect you, or you have an army to kill your bronze colossus.

Note that if weapons are your limiting factor, in can be better to spread them out over more traps rather than completely filling a few.

That way if a trap jams it isn't so bad.

329
What weapon are you using? Some weapon types don't give a profession name, knives for example.

Your computer might be dirty. Give it a good sponge bath (make sure to leave it plugged in). Also put a strong magnet on your hard drive. This will pull out all the evil glitch gremlins that are corrupting your data.
