It appears that more American Internet censorship laws are on the way.

I dreamt that I tried to keep wild rats as pets in my apartment. They breeded rapidly to fill the cage I put them in, and when I was putting in a bowl of water, they all escaped and I had to chase them around and catch them under a bowl to throw them out. My landlord's solution was poison.

What's that quote from CS Lewis?  Ah yes:

Quote
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I am framing this and hanging it somewhere conspicuous in my home

I need to stop using Tumblr because I enjoy the bullshittery but there is no escape from the awful news of awful things happening around the world especially to queer people and it is well meaning but by God is it exhausting

General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?

I dunno if this is appropriate for the anime thread, but I've been reading manga recently. I finished BLAME! and moved on to Knights of Sidonia, and I have to say, reading Knights of Sidonia is essentially just watching people finding new solutions to problems and those solutions being instantly made obsolete. Every time it happens I imagine the characters involved banging their heads against the closest available desks in increasingly frustrated intensity.

Edit:

Seriously, this entire comic is literally just "And then the situation got worse" over and over again.

I heard about Florida. I don't gave any words that can adequately describe the sheer nightmarishness of the situation. All I can really say is that I suspect there will be riots, if there are no riots already.

Its tragic that every man has genetic code for boob size, but only transwomen get the opportunity to find out what it is.

The issue with politics is that you can't live with it but you can't live without it. Ya gotta know what's happening to keep yourself and those close to you safe, but you gotta stay away from it cause in the grand scheme of things there's only so much one person can do about it all. It's true that This Too Shall Pass, but it's very easy to say that when you're not living through a major historical event.

Tolkien was a big fan of the concept of the death of the author is the birth of the reader, which is good since if he was around today it'd probably be a total coinflip whether he became a raging transphobe or not.

Starting this in the middle of college was a very bad idea, but this story is one which has been bubbling away in my mind for actual years now so even though this was just started I'm gonna toss it straight into a proverbial orphanage 'till summer... I'll see youse then.

"I do not feel anything except for this bed."
+1

Your response is Mumbly, and contradictory if listened to closely, but the answer that floats to the surface is "I do not feel anything except for this bed." His face doesn'tt change.

"Good, that's good, the Doctor will be here in a moment."

He jogs over to the door and says something to someone down the hallway, and an elderly lady with grey hair arrives after a moment. She strides up to your bed and gives you a warm smile.

"You're awake, and you can speak, that's good, that's very good."

She pulls up a chair and sits down. She's wearing the same white robe-coat as her colleague, but she's quite a bit taller than he is, though her skin is just as pasty. She pulls out a clipboard and pencil, then begins to speak again.

"Do you know where you are?"

Your body feels uncomfortable all over.

Your head hurts, a lot.

As your vision begins to fade in, a white room comes into focus. Light is coming through windows in the opposite wall. You're... you're in a bed. You look to your left, and then to your right. There are more beds, but although you can make out figures in some of them, you seem to be the only one awake. Your eyes scan the room, and finally rest on the doorway, to your right. A sign over it has the words "Coma ward" written in bold, clear letters.

"You're awake?"

You turn back to your left, and standing over you is a tall, pale figure wearing something resembling a combination of a robe and a coat, all in white. His face is professional, but friendly. He begins to speak again.

"How do you feel, Does anything hurt?"
