I killed some bandits and found this book
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"The Mountain Halls"?, "Imush Carnalbusts"!?, "It concerns the hillocks Anklewhip"!?, "The writing is forceful"!??
I don't even.. just woke up, refreshed the page and burst out of laughing and yet still I'm having a hard time coming up with a coherent mental image of it.

Anyhow, I think I played DF for like 11+ hours straight. Started off with a simple "hmm, guess I'll try that in DF" mindset and off I go having an all-nighter straight to the next day. Last time I spent that kind of amount of time in a fantasy RPG and was satisfied by it.. I can't even remember it because when was the last time I played as a demonic hairless minotaur female and got to wander the land killing both small to big hostile things/creatures and having nearly 1-2 hour worth of dialog with npcs, npcs who pay mind to my character and her deeds, deeds that go from dancing, singing and performing music to in-depth killing and storytelling and then some. :o Yeah, never before.

Love this game.

I think if you retire they might stay there - from an earlier adventure, I was trying to kill a duchess of flies in a labyrinth along with 10 other drunken dwarves, and some of them survived the creature's onslaught. When I went there later, one of them was huddled in a corner of the labyrinth.

Which made me realize even before reading as I found one of my hearthperson on the surface near the maze entrance and couldn't really bother finding the other two. What I realized was that labyrinth is a bad idea for housing any more than my own adventurer so I concluded the simulation/test and reverted back a bit before recruiting them and decided to continue being a hearthperson for that lord and found out that my guild and the claimed place is still in place which is awesome.

Am looking forward to the next DF version even more now. The idea of a wooden (hopefully stone with modding) barbaric fort with some beds and huts for hearthpersons and other adventurers. Heck yes.

Started to wonder how do hearthperson npcs work for my adventurer who is now a lady of a guild I made earlier to claim that labyrinth. Basically I just need someone guarding it. :-\ Am in a simulation mode to see how do those three npcs I dragged there work.

Actually, that's because it's a semimegabeast - megabeasts that actually talk, like giants or ettins, will always consider YOU to be the dangerous animal, not them.

Ahh, anyhow I kind of went the route you went. Only difference is that I used punches, kicks, scratches and gores, making him vomit and one of the punches or kicks made him flat on ground and out cold and I can imagine my character there drawing her greatsword with tears dripping and preparing to get the poor minotaur's head as a proof/trophy and then tearing up even more and starts hugging the unconscious minotaur before eventually getting it over with as the minotaur Ngaxa was bound to eventually kill many more innocents due to his nature.

So after offing his head I put it in the backpack and dragged the headless mangled body of his to his living room I guess (the only proper room in the entire labyrinth) and butchered the body to disallow necromancing. Will be interesting to see how the world starts reacting to my character now as she's claimed an actual labyrinth of her own.

EDIT: What the- This must be the 3rd or 4th post of mine here that's first in a new page.

Why have I never heard of this game before? :V

Still, needs moar Sabaton. Or Horytnica.

Heh, I did mention that game a couple of pages ago.

Anyway, turns out that the minotaur in this labyrinth is male not female, damn npc dialog bug with confusing genders sometimes. Besides that, here's an odd thing: The minotaur didn't even start fighting with me, instead he just runs away saying "I must withdraw!" and the first thing he said to me was him asking to stop fighting while I wasn't even attacking him. :o So now I'm trying some dialog options.

EDIT: Welp, not sure what to do with the minotaur as he considers me a dangerous animal probably due both my custom demonic beasts lacking CREATURE:GENERAL_POISON tag. Feel kinda bad killing the fella, prefer him to be my hearthperson instead as claiming the labyrinth proved successful.

-ouch-

Mental. :o

Erong eventually bled to death, but not before making use of a huge mistake. I had forgotten to load Mafol with 9 units water (3 per vessel) instead of alcohol, and I neglected to drop these before the fight. Just before Erong died, the 6 units ale in two of the mugs were turned into a burning steam. Mafol survived, but had the fat melted off his head and upper body. I normally don't seek to fireproof, but whatever happens happens.

Oh snap.

EDIT: Am in the minotaur's labyrinth called "Scabmine the Pulpy Quake", time to crawl in this maze and have a word with the owner of the place, oh and.. cue the music:

What the.. I think I hit some sort of a bug, for some reason I can't sever any of the goblin's parts off, even with a sword. What gives?

EDIT: Eh, whatever. Decided to stick with biting off a piece of the goblins head and butchered it to get it's mangled skull. Onwards to the labyrinth!

Heheh, I can understand your frustration.

So anyway, I headed towards north-west and a blip (asterisk) appeared, turns out it's a goblin lasher aka scout I guess. I decided to go into scramble mode and catch the little spy by its left foot with my right lower leg and lock its foot with my leg and started to interrogate the goblin, lucky for me the first useful thing the goblin said was about that same minotaur threatening their (evil) lands and so I also got the exact location of the minotaur's place.

As for the goblin (who is in fact a female and has grey skin, oh dorf, I keep running into females more often than males.. just odd) I'm killing her right now and then head to the labyrinth, hopefully I can claim that place. Dhorna's probably not all that excited since the minotaur in question is a female and not a male, which in this role-play case makes killing the minotaur easier I guess.

Ouch!

And, hey! Just found out that there's a minotaur female just a square next to the evil civ! Just a short trek towards northwest. Awesome.

Guess we just have to wait until there's some type of revamp for body plans.

Hope so as it's also necessary for the female breast body parts as right now the game thinks breasts as big vertical udders. *facepalm* Henche why I didn't mod them in after modding them in.

Continuing with my actual gameplay: I already got the gloves, gauntlets (the local lord's building/Dhorna's starting area luckily had them) and crafted a breastplate. The equipment and clothing will come to use once I get around to killing goblins, trolls and other sorts of armies but for now it's a birthday suit trek to try and kill a titan unarmed as I'm interested in what amount of damage can she do to that titan with her natural abilities of the body. Also it'd be amusing if I could tear/gnaw the titan's head off somehow.

Heh, indeed. Never seen an npc actually throw something at me.

Also I just had a look at armors and it seems there's no way to define which part of the upper body a vest or a breastplate protects which is a shame as my demonic females only need the bra area covered since their entire body damage resistances are basically those of a Superman and having those mammaries flopping about in battle is.. less than ideal. Silver lining with the current lack of bras though is that.. well.. I can somewhat make my character wear this kind of thing:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Too bad you can't define the shoulder pad thing either on the upper arms/shoulders.

Yeah, that's my problem with current ranged weapons in adventure mode - they're way too slow to fire (I'm guessing it's supposed to simulate reloading but eh, I could do without it) and you can't aim for specific body parts (though that'd probably be genuinely op for players since you could just headshot everything - there'd probably need to be some type of balancing like the same tricky/square/etc. types of hits, same with melee).

Yeah, a shame a skilled bow(wo)man can't pull off what Legolas in LOTR (And in 'The Hobbit' now too) did with the bow. At least you can have the possibility of pulling off one heck of a Gimli by throwing which IMO is more powerful at showing both raw strength and skill in accuracy (I've enjoyed throwing 'throwing axes' in Mount and Blade Warband far more than using a bow to be honest).

Anyhow, my next course of action in current adventure is to find gloves and gauntlets and then craft a breastplate which to strap on silk vest (I already have silk socks and adamantine high boots and a helmet of course) and find a titan to slaughter. Don't really need armor for that though but for intimidation sake at some point I do, plus I wanna confirm if gauntlets protect fingers and hands for sure this time and I can test it by falling from heights.

I've had nasty stuck-ins with thrown pickaxes spilling the guts and getting lodged into the lower body, or shattering the ribs and jamming them through a lung, while also getting stuck in the upper body.

Nice! Added to my to do list: Craft a few pickaxes for throwing!

Also how does that harpoon gun work? I mean is it aimable at body parts? Truth to be told, I haven't used either a bow or a crossbow in DF yet due to throwing said to be more effective, plus I've always been into close combat fighting rather than magic or archery in fantasy RPG games.

EDIT: Got curious and crafted a bow and some arrows, they do indeed suck big-time. By the time my character got to shoot the first arrow it just did bruising damage and the next thing I see is the attacked opponent half-way outside the hut running away and another npc trying his/her best with about 4-6 attacks and missing. Didn't realize it was this bad with bows and crossbows (I can already imagine it being 10 times worse) until now. :o Yikes, my character is actually MUCH faster at close combat and throwing.

Yikes, those pickaxes must have actual scythe-esque sharp edge either under the pickaxe's head or on the top of it.

Heh, unfortunately pinning people to walls isn't a thing in DF yet, but hopefully that gets added at some point - right now the harpoon launcher is basically a bigger crossbow that seems more prone to stuck-ins and limbs being severed.

I know but yeah, pinning some opponent to the wooden wall or a tree with a spear for example would be quite satisfying. Also that that harpoon contraption is still interesting, it's after all launching projectiles much bigger than a puny bolt. :)

Then, there would be quests that elven druids could give you, such as "Destroy The Golden Ring".
The Golden Ring could "only be destroyed by dipping it into magma". Hang on, I have a deja vu...

But not just any magma! The magma in a mountain that is in the evil civ called "The Fruitless Slaving of Gloom", or something incoherent/non-sensical like that. Wouldn't mind re-enacting such a quest though.

EDIT: Would be awesome if artifacts like 'The One Ring' could make the user wielding it actually invisible and prone to madness/evil.
