I've gotten stuck twice where I killed too many enemies and the AI got set to extreme aggression. I quite literally mean stuck because I ended up losing my construction buildings then the enemy just moves away and leaves the turrets alone. Even if all player buildings and units gets lost, it just stays there, no game over screen.Once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad. My friend gets around this problem by building super tanks which can push back the enemy force. I use a mix of turrets, static defences and fast moving, weak, longrange units. Currently I use a max range automatic plasma turret, a kind of slow firing artillery with a huge explosion, and a mind controlling fire turret. My units are mostly ice, so they can't just put up a resistance and win.
The artillery causes splash damage due to the explosion, the plasma turret consistently damages them as they come closer, and the mind control causes them to halt to deal with the enemies in their midst. So, for the most part, they are either dead or reduced to manageable levels by the time they reach my juice core.
You also should transition from miners into mining buildings, so they can't opportunistically snipe them. It is very important to give your buildings a shortrange attack so that they are discouraged from harassing them, and a shield so that they can't attack from out of the range and chip it to death. I also usually keep around a shielded, armed construction unit in case I get overrun and have to go nomadic for a little while.
