Sum+1Summon Shai Hulud you say? Hmmmm... I actually like it but... Why would a shapeshifter need to summon anything for one time use?How can we boost digging speed of black imps?
Summon Shai Hulud
Anyway, the enemy army is stronger than ours, even if we do not include fortifications.
As such, I propose we draw them out. We need to split them up, and take away their advantages.
Here's my proposal :
Mkilzk and the brutewolves, should
-Assault travellers here, attempting to lure out the defenders. Kill the shepherds, take the flocks, generally act like a big nuissance.
Meanwhile, we summon a few rock trolls higher up the mountain. Their duty is to stay hidden until we prepare to attack, and then start throwing rocks at things.
At the same time, we convert our prospective cultists, and have them drop a rope down below. They will fish up the Things, which are a custom zombie that doesn't die, but rather continuously repairs itself with the bodies of those it slays. Not made for durability, but intended to keep the cost down.
Of course, all the while, the Dwarves continue digging their tunnel into the fortress.
The battleplan would go as follows :
1. We start murdering travellers
2. The city sends troops to investigate and kill the bandits
3. We crush their small detachment.
4. Our trolls reveal themselves, and start bombarding the town
5. The enemy is forced to send units climbing up the mountain to go after them, as they will be out of range of their ranged units (Thanks gravity). Since there's no path, this will take a while.
6. We unleash the things from the Sewers. Their goal is simple, keep the enemy forces bottled up on the wall. Defensive fortifications are build in layers. If we can keep them bottled up on the primary layer, while we take the second, they will have to assault their own defenses.
7. The Black Imps break through, and deploy additional zombie reinforcements.
You'll note this plan involves summoning 2 new types of creatures. That is needed, because our army is not made for this. It has fodder, it has scouting/raiding units, and a tiny amount of ranged units. We don't have siege units or assault infantry. You'll notice that I don't do the obvious, and summon flying units. This is because this is a Temple of the Wind Gods. Pretty sure that flying unit will find themselves rapidly smashed into the side of the mountain.
Trolls should be too heavy to blow over, while all the rest comes from underground.
On a side note : Does anybody now just what forces we have at our disposal. I know we have zombies, the wolves, midnight imps, a few black imps, but what else?
+1 to this plan but also 8. Take a form of a giant armoured smoke-breathing worm-like creature to dig a tunnel and participate in the attack from below
Let's think about this some more.Death and Destruction!
Why are we even attacking this place? What are we trying to accomplish?
In fact I think this may be a great place to camp our undead army and get a dark fortress. Note that my plan doesn't say attack. I want to spend a week scouting and then decide to assault, siege or just move on with our undead horde
BTW, Malkus is rather useless in this campaign. He didn't change an outcome of any battle and I am pretty sure that we would be fine without his aid.
The only thing I like in Ardent Debater plan is sending cult of the wolf away... And even here I don't think that North is the right direction to take....
Guys, how about doing this?
1) Send our smoke wraiths\spectres in, do reconnaissance of the area, see where their defences are strongest, and what assets this town has to bear
2) Carefully poke in the dreams of the citizens. Consider corrupting a guard or two should we find a good target
3) Consider summoning few black imps to prepare an attack from below if scouts will find that this route is good
4) Send Malkus, Cult of the Wolf, Brutewolves and Mkilzk to the lands of Ura tribes to terrorise the area, create more brutewolves\assemble army of regular wolves\war dogs and enlarge the cult by forcefully converting some of victims.
5) Undead part of the army to remain with you staying around the city and waiting for an opportunity to attack. Needless to say that any travellers to be killed
My reasoning here is > Brutewolves and humans have a bad habit of eating, preventing us from staying in the area for few months. In the same time, they are not very useful in assaulting the city. Also, they are way more mobile than zombies and even if we decide to skip the city and move further, their mobility is useless because horde moves with a speed of a zombie.
Malkus is good for leading humans and training them to fight, if we want to get a leader for the undead horde, upgrading a wight (maybe giving him the corrupted staff) is a better course of action
So, how do we use the jar of one hundred tormented souls if it isn't here, can we just go: send 5 of each might to the jar?
Stability is key to growing the population. Knowing that the money will keep flowing year after year is critical to attracting immigrants and encouraging our populace to have more children. A one-off investment would be a waste of money. And we can afford it.I think I'm misreading but...doesn't B mean "spend that 5 year expense all, now" and A mean "plan for 5 years while continuing stable growth in that time period"?

And I wonder what would be our other source of revenue than gold if or when those mines deplete (which would take a long time)
Capturing this one and converting it to be our undead fortress is actually an interesting way to finish the campaign... but it doesn't look easy to capture with available forces especially if they have at least few competent priests\wizards
I prefer to bypass it. Even scouting is somewhat risky.
Send spectres to investigate the beneath the mountain for hidden entrances we could use to sneak past their defences. Even if none are found, maybe we could find a weakness in the mountain and collapse part it (and thus part of their defences) with some small expenditure of our demonic power.+1
I like the wolf cult idea. Going forward, we could make our ownI like this, but I'm not sure about its practicality. To do this, we would need quite a few more children, which kinda puts a drain on our powers of I'm not mistaken. I'd say this is more of a long-term goal.littlegrand demonic pantheon. Maybe have our followers go and do their own thing depending on their competencies, run their own cults and operations and thus have domains assigned to them. The new gods of the new way, all ultimately serving the master plan their master demon. I mean, who's to say the gods of this world weren't like that themselves, just beings that gained so many followers and power they became godlike?
