Fourth, may I please be dwarfed as your first ranger?  :D

Consider yourself dwarfed. Should I use Glass as nickname? I could use glass cannon too! Equipped with a silver crossbow and silver bolts and leather armor! Just kidding. You are probably going to be Kadol Avuzkom, who besides been the new militia commander is also a carpenter during his free time. I will post his skills and thoughts later on. Raskut was just about to draft you to form a small bow squad, since you are the only one who knows from which side the bolt leaves the bow.

For future reference, for those who want to be dwarfed, leave:
a) nickname you want for your dwarf (remember  the length limit. I guess its 16 chars);
b) if you want a craftsman, ranged, melee or noble. I will try to comply the best I can. In the worst case I will choose a dwarf randomly.

I will continue with this method of publication for one more chapter or two. If things continue to go well, I will think about making the updates in separate topics.

Chapter 2 is up. I couldn't think of a better way to publish the chapter then using the spoiler button. I don't want all the journal to load in a single block of text. But I can't control the size of the font, so if you find too small, just zoom in. I saw some people separating a story in different topics and then making another topic to summarize everything, but I think in this case it was overkill. So there it is.

Tell me if you have any suggestion or anything you want to know or see from the fortress. I will include some update about the world around soon. I can say that there is no liaison appointed, so Onul will not be happy to the news of him not becoming the official mayor anytime soon.

They are not forbiden. So its no use to toogle reclaim/forbid.

Maybe they are owned by other dwarves, but no one in the military can equip them. How do I now if it is owned by other dwarf?

[EDIT:] Apperantly solved. After I designated the stock pile and the dwarves moved the items from one place to a another, the itens are now usable and the dwarves are equiping them. Damn, right after I asked for help I found the solution for my self. I had been tring for quite sometime!
[EDIT2] Nope, its a proplem with stockpiles. Some stockpiles makes my dwarves not able to use its itens

Some items I produced, including some armor pieces and weapons, are not owned by the fortress anymore (maybe because I retired the fortress to take a look at legends mode).

I don't know how to reclaim them. The mail armors, for exemple, can't be equiped. They don't show up in the specific armor menu. All Items are between parenteses  (item_name) when viewed with 'k', exept these items i can't use.
Anyone knows how to deal with it?

I was creating a new world, and when I looked at legends mode I found a dwarven civilization with only a single habitant. Curious, I took a look at its history and started a fortress. Here is their story, and their struggle to rebuild a once proud civilization:

I cant open the xraw file in magicavoxel. I go in the model tab, click the import button (the one with [...]) select the .xraw file and nothing happens.

How do I open the file voxel fortress produce?

[EDIT] After some time I noted a large number of unique colors were been generated and it wouldnt open in magicavoxel. It worked without the texture map.

Did magicavoxel always had the cap of 126x126x126? If so, it doesn't fit even a pocket world, that is 256x256

I don't want to add or remove tags, that seems too artificail, but ajusting their ethics, that seems promising. Maybe overpopulation population don't influence on starting wars, but perhaps over populated sites makes battles bigger and more significant.

Alright, I will give it a try.

I would like for toady to elaborate more on how history gen works. How the AI assembles its armies, attack, defense, siege...are those stuff "modble" (hum...modifiable?) or is it hardcoded?

The title says it. What causes these ambitious little creatures to war during worldgen?

Territory? Leaders personality? Greed? Proximity? Opportunity? What makes the AI decide for war?

And what parameters could I change to influence more belligerence? Site Cap? Smaller maps? Pop Cap? Pop/site Cap?

Ps:The most incredible war I saw on legends was a horde of goblins led in battle by its Demon fought an dwarf civ for a century, until they finally defeated them. When they reached the other side of the mountain they try to invade a elf civ but they failed every time. Until, in an epic battle of tens of thousands of warriors, the elves slayed the demon. That goblin horde was never the same again. But there were so many goblins that all the other dwarf civs ended up with goblin kings!!!

Ok, deleting the [MOUNT] tag worked this time. In the past it was apparently causing my game to crush...

For sure its a lot better. No more thousands of horses in a single place. Still, when we are talking about site populations, there are more horses then dwarfs or elves. And if you put horses with beak dogs, there are more of those than humans. It is still common  to find hillocks with half dozen dwarfs and 300 horses.

I just want remove them from the game and see if it has impact on demographics dynamics in site population.

Isn't there a solution for the horse explosion yet during world gen? No one knows what is causing it? Is there a way to delete horses (and beak dogs too for that matter) out of the game without breaking it?

I'm using LNP 0.42.06 alpha.

I would gladly play 0.40.x but for some reason that version runs in a very low fps, that doesn't occur with other versions...
