DF Gameplay Questions / Unretiring Issues
« on: June 20, 2017, 07:03:22 pm »
I recently unretired a relatively stable fortress, but now some problems have arisen.

The least troubling issue is related to the myriad of "hostile" diplomats and merchants scattered around the caverns.  They seem rather peaceful, but the game is listing them as hostile.  Also, around ten "merchants" are now citizens of my fort, lazing around, doing nothing.

And something rather trifling occurred, too; all of my nobles are failing to recognize that they have offices and rooms.  However, the game still recognizes that the rooms belong to them.  This means that they'll whine and be unproductive unless I unassign and reassign their respective rooms.

The worst issue, though, is my missing alcohol.  Prior to retiring the fort, I had somewhere around 2000 units of liquor for my ~60 dwarfs, but now they have completely vanished.  I believe my food supplies are fine, though.

I know that the hostile bug is common enough, but I've never heard of the rest occurring.  Has anyone else had these issues?

DF Gameplay Questions / Problems retiring adventurers
« on: July 14, 2016, 05:50:23 pm »
Recently, I've been working on a little adventure mode project centered on a necromancer tower, my dwarf who slaughtered the necromancers in it, and the human I made who continued their legacy, and would meet my dwarf in battle.  Unfortunately, that part will never happen...

Obviously to do this, I retired my dwarf and made a human.  After making him a legendary hammerman necromancer, I let him and his 50 undead goblins at a demon in a dark fortress  After brutally murdering it, I took its bone jewelry and decided to wear them as mementos.  Finally, I took him to my former dwarf, and mangled his left eye for rival purposes.  This is where things get buggy.  I retired my necromancer in the tower where he found the slab, and went back to my scarred dwarf.  I immediately noticed that he was wearing the demon's bone jewelry, which I just passes off as a small bug.  Later, however, I noticed that he was stuck at one central point on the [Q] map, no matter how far he moved away from it, and the spot was blacked out:

Eventually, I decided to retire him again, but this further complicated the situation.  When I went to unretire him, he wasn't available.  He is, however, still in legends mode, but his name doesn't appear in blue as it usually does with player created characters, which means he is essentially not mine anymore.

So, what happened?

DF Gameplay Questions / "Trapped" Dwarfs?
« on: June 28, 2016, 09:31:10 pm »
I recently transferred my 43.03 saves to 43.04 (although I'm not sure if that does anything) and when I loaded my fortress, I was spammed with give food/water cancellations.  Upon investigating this, I discovered that three of my dwarfs were trapped in my deep underground mining section.  After some time, they stopped cancelling and started to perpetually mine, or clean when I disabled their mining preference.  When I removed all of their preferences, they would move to a specific location and stand there, gazing upon the fully functional up stairs...

The dwarf will continuously stand in that spot, but for some reason, when I ordered him to dig out the stairs on the left side, he went to the floor above...and subsequently went back down after that.

I've meticulously checked to see if there were any open spaces or walls blocking anything, but there is nothing from that layer to the outside world; they're just incapable of saving themselves.

Could it be a consequence of transferring the save?  Or could it be from some complication brought about from the recent cave crocodile incident?  Or am I just overlooking something obvious, which is usually the case?

DF Gameplay Questions / Animals Stuck in my Temple?
« on: June 16, 2016, 09:11:54 pm »
So, ever since I built a temple for my pious little dwarfs so they could stop complaining about not worshiping, my animals (and for some reason, an outpost liaison...why, I don't know) have been trapped:

Now they're going to starve.  I've tried everything from removing the doors to undesignating the area , but they won't leave...I guess they just want to be closer to the gods :-\

Would anyone happen to know why this is happening?

Also, sorry if I'm just overlooking something, or restating a known issue--although I looked for information and couldn't find anything--I'm somewhat inexperienced with fortress mode (as in this is my first functioning fort).
