Add some sand around the water.

Break it up with some patches of darker green and a nice body of water.

Attempt to calm down the monkey with the help of your mask, and ask what's going on.

I hope not, I was looking forward to this.

Bugs are most delicious though.

Common name: Lure Crab
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Merostomata
Order: Xiphosura
Distinguishing features: The Lure crab is shaped similarly to a horseshoe crab. It grows to about 60 cm in length, though its larvae are much smaller. Its head is a blunt, carapaced semicircle, with two eye-stalks poking out of the top. Four of its ten legs are tipped with pincers. It has two tentacle-like appendages in front of its mouth.

Lure Crabs hunt by burying themselves in sand so that only their eyes and "tentacles" are poking out, and waits for smaller prey to mistake the tentacles for worms and draw close before striking with its pincers.

The tendrils that evolved to grow into the ground begin growing upwards too, to absorb some of the organic debris. The membranes on these tentacles grow sticky substances that grip nearby material and release digestive enzymes to break down and consume nearby organics. This mostly collects floating detritus but also occasionally floating critters and they get broken down and eaten as well.

I've tried asking for directions, but it doesn't show up. I suspect it's a glitch.

I did find a workaround however, LegendsViewer can be used to locate whatever place they're talking about.

Does anyone know how to ask freed slaves where their homes are? I found a bunch of them and agreed to lead them to freedom, but I can't tell where to go.

EDIT: I figured out how to ask them (bring up the journey together) but not how to ask for directions to their homes

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: November 06, 2017, 09:13:47 pm »
After a catastrophic FB attack that killed all but 7 (wow what a coincidence) of my dwarves (not counting the 19 performers I accidentally hired, or the two mercenaries serving as my only serious fighters), I wondered why my newly-assigned chief medical dwarf was cancelling so many more jobs out of grief/emotional shock than my other six (who were just cancelling jobs because of the FB webs covering the lower half of the fortress). I check his thoughts & preferences screen, and after scrolling through an egregious amount of "felt nothing after seeing X die" messages, I realize what's wrong.

He's six years old

I guess I must have changed the raws to make dwarves mature faster at some point. Oh well, at least he's more functional than those damn performers.
