I'm reasonably certain that you can't remove bones without taking the whole corpse apart/regular butchery. You could probably use one of those 'shearing' reactions but have it produce bones instead.

Out of curiosity, why would you want to remove just the bones?

While all this was going on, I was forced to slaughter my two water buffalos. This happened in an isolated room with the door locked, then a long corridor, then another locked door, and finally a solid wall. I ain't taking no chances with zombie skins in my fortress.

You're already doing better than me. It took about thirty seconds before I was ogrewhelmed by corpses.

I'm 90% sure this is impossible. You might be able to pull it off with external programs, but I seriously doubt it.

Whoops. Knew it was something like that. No problem.

In hindsight you might want to supply a variant of bronze (with a higher melting point) in the case that the fireballs it ejects melts itself, also would make the mask more unique and valuable.

Actually, the bronze is fine from the fireball naturally, and I figured that since dwarves can't normally obtain fitting masks outside of moods it was valuable enough already.
