SO! Uh. I'm looking at the map and it is TIIIIIINY. No space in front of the volcano for a proper entrance and barely any behind it as well. Despite being 3x3. Should I go and make it 5x3? That will give a chunk of space in front of the volcano and an extra chunk behind it. Or alternatively, 5x5.

THIS THREAD IS A MASTERPEICE.

And we haven't even started playing yet.

Whoever decides to read this is going to have to scroll through 14 pages of shitposts before he gets to the real stuff. Perhaps a link could be included in the OP to where the game starts? Or we could just make a new thread.

I'd say a link, or at least a mention that the actual game starts on page whatever. We wouldn't want people to miss out on the glorious shitposting just because they wanted to actually read what happened to the fort now would we  :P .

Except is not shit posting. Is glorious posting!

In response to those saying obsidian rooms are bad, I can make it a storage layer. Or some dining rooms.

Alright! I've gotten the embark completed, haven't dug in yet (too busy), but we have an aquifer. On a giant ass mountainous region. So hopefully it'll be fairly far down. Either way, if we run into it, we'll carve out a good chunk above it, leaving spots for hospitals, then channel the aquifer to get water and obsidianize it. Then channel that out and some lucky comerades will be getting obsidian rooms.

By Armok's blood stained beard. My dude is a badass! When he dies, whether from getting shanked or old age, can he have his stuff buried with him please? In a coffin made from his favorite material.

And can we see how many kills the military peeps have? :D
Yeah, I especially liked that shot.  Your Dwarf is surrounded by a Beak Dog, Nightmare (evil horse), and Goblin; this 167 year old Dwarf is just swinging for the bleachers at anything that moves, lol.  He gets his shin kicked out from under him, then while lying on the ground, kneecaps the Nightmare that kicked him.  A custom coffin I can do, not sure how to how to include equipment in a burial though.  Here is his kill tally and gear, including the most Conan/Skyrim/D&D awesome cloak ever made.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Keep in mind that he is basically a great-grandfather, and came to Anvilmastered with no military skills aside from being super strong (compared to the average peasant).  So to have become a Mace Lord and earned 7 kills at his age is quite impressive.  Btw, as of those pictures, he has fully recovered from having his ankle shattered by an evil horse monster, and is currently leading a striking demonstration.

Make  a tomb, put a chest or two in it. Or alternatively, hand his stuff to his oldest child/grandchild and continue the legacy with Speciesunkn0wn II

That's the PETVALUE tag for you, comrade. Bears do not come cheap!

We should just buy some soviet bears from the caravan after we have established ourselves and made sure that glorious communism strikes fear in the hearts of her enemies.

I figured it out. I asked in the mods forums and I had forgotten to change it inside the save itself.

It should be lowering the pet value, but you need to do it in the save's copy of the raw file folder to effect an existing world. Is that the problem?

My other guess would be that the modder might have accidentally made two pet value tags within the creature, and the lower one is overriding your changes to a higher tag.

Out of curiosity, what's the mod?

Soviet bear,  Komerade. Ok. Needs to be changed in the actual save. Got it! Thanks!

So one of the modded creatures in a playthrough I'm planning costs 501 embark points. Is there a way to lower that? I tried to make the [PET_VALUE] tag 1, but it's still the same cost.

How in armok's name do you change the value of an animal for it being in the embark screen? Each basic soviet bear is 501 points! In order to get 2 soviet bears I had to forgo any real skill additions outside of liar for Imic and appraiser for Ivan as well as pretty much everything else in the items menu aside from two picks, an ax, iron anvil, 60 rum, 5 plump spawn, 5 pig tail seeds, 15 plump helmets, and a bronze warhammer for our chief of hammer.

Quick update: Got a world that I think works. I've gone through checking the legends and we've got plenty of human capitalist spies with I think 6-7 dwarven ones. And a few gems.

We must destroy this fascist town, they are worshiping a capitalist slab.

Gorlak spy?

Necromancer spy = !!FUN!!

okay have a computer again...(desktop) .but I still don't have off until the 11th of December so you still wont likely see anything significant from me until January.

That is fine. I'm pretty sure making the ant people tame toward us and being pets that do stuff can be a post embark addition.

Rejoice komerades for I have the new update! I did make a world before remembering that I have mods I need to add to it, so there went an hour of my time. The other hour was my being in awe over the vanilla export world maps. So I've added the mods (cheated with stalinium) and will be doing proper world gen tomorrow.

Unfortunately I'm nowhere I can DL the new update until later tomorrow. On the otherhand, it means we will get a lessened chance for some world ending bug if Toady releases a hotfix for some of them soon.

I must appologize for the antmen suggestion and modding attempts, for it is now entirely impossible fro me to due so without causing minor scietal distruption. My comrades, my personalfavorite computer that was alloted to me has broken down and most likley will not be in working order until early next year, I have borrowed this one and am not willing to download large files onto it.

Sorry comrades.

T'is a shame comrade, I was looking forward to using my allotted time with that particular computer. We will do our best to make sure that the state finds an equally powerful computer as soon as possible, but until then we understand that you will not be able to supply top quality raws for the state until then.

That does suck. At leazt iz proper excuze. So you don't have to worry about GULAG.

Zomething I haven't given much thought to, burying our dead. How zhould we do it? One central catacomb, or scattered around? Or maybe central catacomb for Heroes of State and scattered around for rest?
