Ok. Slight spoilery post. I've reached the most infuriating cavern. It's a water filled one with warm stone mixing with damp stone and there's semi-molten rock and crap right under the wet cavern. I'm starting to see how far the warm stone goes before I'm going to channel out a pit and crack it open to see if the magma will flow into the small pit where I can put magma forges and stuff. Wish me luck, and you'll see what happens in the next post.

Double post, but yay, who cares.

I have made a df hack script fix ! :D * confettis poping *

It fixes raised dead dwarves labors/military/nobles/and such. It allows you to control the raised dwarves as if they never died.
It uses tweak/makeown. But makes it work on all the dwarves of the Citizen screen.

Installation instructions
- get dfhack installed on your pc
- go to the " \hack\scripts " folder
- create a file. Name it   wmMakeown.lua
- open it
- copy/paste the content of the spoiler below. Save the file and close it.
- start df and the save
- by typing wmMakeown on the console, you'll get the usage instructions of the script
- use the script and enjoy your fixed army of undying dorfs

Spoiler: wmMakeown.lua (click to show/hide)

There are two ways to use the script :
- Either select one unit and fix this unit. This is very reliable as you are sure which unit is being fixed.
- Or specify "-all" option, and let the script loop through all units in the game, figuring out when to fix a unit or not. => This is 95 to 99% safe. As I made sure to only fix units that are "dwarves of your civ, not merchants nor diplomats, not insane, nor zombies nor dead". But in certain instances, you may call a makeown on someone inintended. Though I doubt it. Better be carefull and save before calling it when many visitors are there.

Huzzah! You are the savior of the fortress!

Those damn plant loving fascists have arrived. They did come the right way to the depot though, I was worried the idiots would get lost.

Armok shall be pleased by the offering of their blood! After we take their goods, of course. Seize and Slaughter is always great fun!

Sanctume II has been getting antsy as it is, time for him to go to work! I love how they don't fight back.

I was wondering why the fish cleaning wasn't happening despite us having given the fisher, Comrade Alath, a fishery and storage. Her husband, Comrade Endok, told me that she never has bothered to clean the fish after dropping them off in the storage area. I quickly remedy that by having him clean the fish in between cooking meals.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I also have myself cook once again so we never run out of food while he's cleaning fish, and so that I can teach Comrade Endok the proper prayers and blessings for the food!

As a result of the fish being cleaned, we have shells for the shell leggings I asked be prepared. Comrade Lorbam began work immediately, thus I've assigned her to that craftsdwarf's workshop as well as given her the bed above it. And changed her profession to 'Shell Carver'. The next fall caravan shall have their leggings! And we might be able to use other shell items for our marksdwarves? Might be better to give them all copper uniforms though. Better protection if the enemy gets close...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I also finalize how the other workshops you can see in the sketch will be set up. Counter-clockwise from top right: Shell, Bone/Skull, Wood. I originally was going to have stone in there as well, but I think I'll move that to be say, figurines rather than 'crafts' or something.  That would be in the currently empty place under the shell workshop.

I've gotten a large number of the dwarves without anything to do to start smoothing out the upper level living quarters and offices. We're also getting lavish meals, thanks to the fish being cleaned!

Thank Armok! Migrants have arrived early in the year! This is a great boon to us!

There were a great many of them, took them a few days to all arrive and get settled. 18 in total. Really helpful especially because a few of them are capable of taking over from each other and the dwarves we had before they arrived in several needed fields. The multitude of skills means I can get the military rotation and obligation started. Just need to start looking for military ore veins on levels we aren't going to put stuff. And find the magma sea for ease of making armor, weapons, and other metal stuff.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A great many comrades have left RedStar, probably because the living conditions there were awful from the stories I've heard from the previous comrades who came last year. In both migration waves, a single dwarf from the mountainhome made their way to us as well. Those are Imic the ArcBuilder and Rethi-Eli the CombatSuturer. Oh, I forgot to mention, the most recent migrant wave included a fair few dwarves with some skill in the various ways of doctoring, thank Armok.

Yes, Rethi-Eli shall be training in the military when he isn't suturing wounds. Imic meanwhile shall be a stonecrafter and an architect, doing the latter alongside Ferrous-Builder.

Because we have the military as a necessity now, I have drafted plans for the barracks.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All the rooms are one horizontal-urist wider on all sides than they will be when completed because I shall hide the dirt walls and floor with stone block walls and floor! Hammerdwarves shall be on the left, Speardwarves on the right, Archers in the bottom-middle. Currently that area isn't drafted because I need to figure out how best to set up the archery range for several squads.

Here's the file for Imic:

And the file for Rethi-Eli:

During a chat with Sanctume II, I discovered that he and Tovarisch CABL are in love! I know what weapon Tovarisch CABL shall be using (a hammer)! Here's to the Combat Couple of Sanctume II the Guard and Tovarisch CABL the Killer of Tyrants!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: That means you guys help with the archery set up. :P Oh, dare I make two archery ranges that face each other so in the event of a miss there's a chance the other dwarf will get shot? That'll give my hospital staff something to do.

I've got a fantastic idea when it comes to the temple thingy! Build a temple to Armok and dump all the weremoose body parts into it, then move the WM Corral into it. Let them coat the floor and walls in blood!!! AHAHAHAHHAAHAH! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! BONES FOR THE BONE THRONE! Rivers of magma could flow through it and be used as garbage dumps too.

Silver for bolts is outdated after nerf. Sharpness is now very important for piercing armor.

They don't do blunt damage anymore?
Ballista arrows were changed to edged damage in 40.15.

Also, goblins have been fixed to actually bring complete sets of armor.

I'm pretty sure the projectiles can be swatted out of the air, too. (Or at least Clowns can do it.)

OOOOH. Ok. Ballista arrows. Alright. Steel tips it is when I'm able to make steel. Also, armor doesn't help protect you from a metal tipped ballista. Copper lets you blow through a few gobbos.

321
Well, nice to know it's gone well so far. And even got migrants! What does the death page look like? XD

So I guess we wait until all the body parts are inside the Corral, right?

323
I never used it before. I'll google it and test.  But do we want 20+ weremoose training 24/7 in the caverns? hehe
You know the answer to that question. And it's not even cheating, it's just fixing something that's broken.

When the maker of a succession game suggests something and says it's OK, it's ok. XD Plus, 20+ weremoose= amazing military.

324
They can't be cage trapped because they show up in the Unit List as part of the fortress.
But they cannot be assigned labors to do stuff, nor be assigned to a squad.
The visitors are shown friendly after they transform back.
And weremoose are trap avoid and destroy workshops.

The Hideout burrow is a separate fortress with a hatch from above type of locking for now.
I plan to build a wall on the surface to secure the farms from tree growing and leaving a hole on the ceiling.

I do plan to use the current Hospital as part of the Hideout.  However, sometimes injured cursed dwarfs are brought over there to Rest then turn.
The 2 patients Sigun and Ingish seemed to have been ignore while they were in bed or traction bed during the full moon even when one of the bed has a weremoose turning and remaining in bed.

One big problem is body parts and teeth are scattered all over.  Sometime, they res back outside the cavern 2 Weremoose Corral burrow. So they die there during a full moon, res back elsewhere and turn weremoose again since it is still a full moon.

It's just too dangerous for the uncurse because there is no time to train, nor we have metals to make armor, or even decent weapons.  We have galena ores some 50+z below the central stairs.

I am slowly making garbage chute with atom smasher.   It will be at least 5z deep, with natural smoothed walls in some levels, and magma-safe atom smasher at the bottom.

Atom smasher you say? That's how to get rid of the body parts, and then the weremoose! >:D Chuck the body parts in, smash 'em, then put the weremoose in and smash 'em.

325
So I reaaaaally liked ballista since I first used them (but have never since been able to have a fort go long enough that I could build more. :/), and then I used copper tipped ballista bolts. After seeing the 'crossbow bolt material' discussion thingy, it was determined that silver makes the best bolts. I think that would transfer over to ballistas, right? So depending on how long my current fortress goes, I plan to make a testing room or something to see what metal makes the best bolt tips. If anyone else wants to try a more detailed analysis than 'shoot a ballista five times at some poor sap I've burrowed to be in the path, rinse, repeat' I'd appreciate it. XD My biggest problem is probably going to be getting enough candy for some tips as well as other stuff...

326
Could I be dorfed as someone from the military? :D Also, see if cage traps work in capturing the ones still roaming. If they do, you can throw the cages into the second cavern.

Couldn't you have made a second fort, rather than expand off where they're known to roam?

327
This is awesome. XD Looks like there's still a few bugs to make sure the dwarfs res. as proper citizens. :P I'll be able to play when May comes around because I'll be out of college for the summer. Seems like fun, although I really hope that LNP can get up to the right version with its stuff...

Since there is a comunist fortress, i am curious to see how an anarcho capitalist would be.

Yay! I was mentioned. XD Now there's socialist fortress, comrades! Because communist fortress ground to halt once workers stopped digging below z-level 99 for some reason. >:1 Although there won't be a post in Blightmurder until the end of this week. College is kicking my rear faster than clowns go through an unprepared fortress with every citizen around the hole.

329
Ok. Sorry it's been a while since the last post. ^^; I'm afraid I'm going to have to put this on hiatus until my college semester is over (or at least, my English class would be) so, about two more weeks. My english class has thrown an elephant horde's worth of stuff at us, so yeah...

The execution chamber.
Call it Sputnik.
Sputnik I.

Maybe. Superfluous Pitching Upward Total N00b Killing  Internia? SPUTNIK I?

The I is "the first". Roman numerals.
As for the rest of it.... Uh.... Sure. Have fun.

I am aware. :P I was making a joke with it.
