When you are shoing them around (like between squads or in the squad) they will take a different weapon unless you specifically tell them to use the named one

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Petitions stopped working
« on: July 04, 2016, 08:15:40 pm »
This worked !
I put all my visitors in a excell sheet, 2 years later i checked the names of all visitors currently in my Pubs and everyone that was still there got into an accident that was including a dwarf with a knife and red clothing and a particular lust for blood.
I started with the visitors with the most ragged clothes because i figured they were longer there and caused the problem.
It worked out in the end, after i killed the 4th guy another one got "attend metting" immediately and now i have Petitions again.
When you are trying to solve it this way, also check mercenarys.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Migrants being weird.
« on: June 28, 2016, 05:11:19 pm »
As already stated the first 2 waves are hardcoded, and have always at least 1 dwarf.
Even if your civilisation is pretty much existent anymore there will still be new migrants, check not only popcap but also the strictpopulationcap

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Dwarfs arent eating prepared food

Yeah. Ever since I designated an inn my dwarves have stopped eating in it. They definitely only go for raw food. All I can do with the tons of prepared meals is sell them.
I do the same thing right now, i just saw 5 of my military dwarfs going out to pick berrys instead of eating the food stored right next to them,
They are stationed, trained and housed in my last cavern layer so it tkes them days to go all the way up and back down again  ::)

Maybe it's an infection your diagnoser missed?
Question is now how i can get him into diagnosis again without killing him by accident, he is my best teacher

I deleted all meeting areas in the hope, the visitors will go away and i will see who is staying to find out if anyone is cusing the bug.
Instead of leaving the tourists just decided to go and wander through my whole fortress  >:(

DF Gameplay Questions / Constantly nauseated military dwarf
« on: June 26, 2016, 04:54:05 pm »
Hello everyone
One of my military dwarfs got wounded on his right arm around 10 years ago.
He got suturing, a bit of downtime and everything seems to be alright BUT
he is constanty nauseated and is puking everywhere.
I wouldnt mind as much, its slowing him down in combat but he is mostly there to train my new recruits anywhere
What really unnerves me is that i am constantly getting a combat report from him wich will be just describing him retching and puking.
His wounds under the health option are still showing his arm as :
right upper arm, skin
right upper arm, fat
right upper arm, muscle
has been sutured

under STATUS it says : Nauseated

and if you just show him ingame and use the w option his arm is shown as yellow.
Is there anything i can do ? Like mod a file ?
Getting him out of the military didnt worked btw
His recuperation is on base value and toughness says basically unbreakable

I tried the catering with only masterful food enabled, in the food pot was strawberry roast and it was right next to a table and a chair.
instead of eating that my testdwarf left the hall, went straight for some raw strawbery sat down on one of my tables in my military area and ate it there. After tht he still had the thought "unfocused after a lack of decent meals for a long time"
If i lock my dwarfs in with food they will eat it after a while.

I jsut noticed that the elvish diplomat is tlaking with one of the dukes of the fallen fortrese isntead of talking to the Duke of my Fortress or the Mayor.
I will try to get the king over soon, just to see if tht is changing anything

I also have a lot of unprepared stuff, but instead of goin for meat or intestines they go for things like raw Plump Helmets

DF Gameplay Questions / Dwarfs arent eating prepared food

This might be related to this issue ---> http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=158978.0

I noticed that all my dwarfs  have the "lack of decent food" thought despite my fortress cooks only preparing masterwork meals with a wide variety of meat, plants, eggs and fish
I also noticed that none of my dwarfs are using the assigned meeting hall.
They are only standing around in the inn to socialise but they all ignore the prepared food there and instead walk 3 z levels down to eat my unprocessed stuff.
Sometimes a single dwarf will actually walk to my food stores grab something and then eat t in my meeting hall but i have the feeling that this only hapens on very rare occasions
I have set the area as a meeting zone and put a yes into the option on the table, note that they also wont eat in the dining rooms if i set the meeting hall option to no, instead they will reat at randomly free tables in the fortress
