Bio: Of Morcian origin, Claire is the daughter and eldest child (and as far as she knows, only child) of a deserter. Her parents married young and had her several years before money became tight and her father joined the military in hopes of prestige and access to that distant dream of wealth and even nobility.

He didn't last the year. After seeing what combat was actually like, he deserted at the first chance, taking his wife and child on the run. But before they could even make it to Dashun, Claire was separated from her parents when they scattered to avoid a patrol of guards; each of her parents thought the other had her. The guards found her and waited for her parents to return, but, likely because in the heat of the moment they feared punishment more than anything else, they never did.

The years after that, she was passed to guardian after guardia​​n, never staying in one place. She was not an inherently difficult child, but she had no other blood relations that could be found and her magic manifesting caused trouble enough by itself. At fifteen she ran away to find her parents and the place she belonged.

A couple years passed. It was not an easy time for her, but she made do with what she had, doing odd jobs as she traveled. On occasion she needed to use her magic in battle, whether as a means to gain coin or food or in self-defense. Her magic was always unrefined, beaten together more from practice and experimentation than actual study, but she learned to tug at her foes with gusts of wind, distracting them, even drawing their attention if need be.

It was by chance that she met a mercenary much like any other on the road, and by chance that they were heading in the same direction. They traveled together for convenience's sake, and were forced to fight a few times along the way. It was enough to make a good impression on the mercenary, and he recommended that she find work with his employer - Steelhart.

The rest is extrapolation. She has been with Steelhart's group a long time now, and though she has not found her parents, she feels as though she belongs. Steelhart himself was not particularly impressed when first meeting her given her young age among other things, but she has proven herself in loyalty and competence over the years. Her demeanor renders her largely unsuitable for any leadership roles; still, she often lends a subtle hand to help and guide other mercenaries and is usually a tempering influence on the whole.

For the most part, Claire is quiet and generally unassuming, a little too attached to the mercenary band, and dangerous enough despite still not being a natural at her work. She has an inherited caution around Laguz and is particularly worried about this job, but where her group goes, she goes too. She wouldn't have it any other way.
