Mud titans are apparently made out of dried mud: they can suffer fractured or chipped body parts.

Yeah, I once had a civilization that had only settled in freezing biomes so far bring me a grand master wax worker.

New fortress after the old one crashed: welcome to Manyfaiths!

The idea is that all deities will get their own section of the fortress with appropriate facilities (god of justice has jail, god of wealth jeweler's workshops), and dedicated temples. In theory, it's great.

In practice, I had to lock up 75% of the first migrant wave because they worshipped multiple deities. Can't have those heretics running around!

With DF being what it is, I wonder if we'll be able to see the difference between a failed megaproject and trolling attempt.  :P

I just cut down a tree by a lake, and a bunch of hippos fell out! :D

Ah, the elusive tree-hippo. A rare sight indeed!

I had something similar happen once: a dwarf was killed, returned as a ghost, put to rest, had his slab destroyed by a FB, and when I checked Legends Mode later on it turned out he'd returned on the other side of the world.

My fortress has its first artifact! A dwarf child (ugh) got possessed (double ugh), got two of my precious logs (triple ugh) and created 'The Royal Execution' an artifact wooden toy hammer that menaces with spikes of wood (friggin' awesome).

It fits my fort so far (damned hellhole in Evil territory that idealizes demons and is experimenting with scincusthropy). I'm kind of considering waiting for the dwarf monarch to arrive at my fortress, then dropping the hammer into his room moments before I kill him in an elaborate trap.

I also created a great temple to the glory of wereskinks, which contains a slab honoring the wereskink who brought the curse divine blessing to my fortress, a slab commemorating the only werebeast casualty so far, and a custom few statues of wereskinks devouring laughing dwarves. I'll be introducing a statue garden with statues of all wereskinks soon.

How long has he been in your fortress? Maybe he's a vampire or werebeast and therefore treated as a viable trade good? I can't really think of any other possible answer.

I had two suspected infected after a wereskink attack, so I put them in a side room. Only one turned out to be infected, and is currently devouring the other dwarf.

DF has gay animals? The level of complexity in this game keeps amazing me.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: About non-standard-metal weapons/armor
« on: September 15, 2016, 09:40:03 am »
Compared to traditional weapon materials, lead is extremely soft.  And I wasn't counting ranged ammo, which enjoyed using lead often.
Lead(and other soft but dense metals) makes far more sense for ranged ammo than melee weapons, as if it does not matter so much if it breaks/loses its edge, as it only has to be used once.

Also, a person is more likely to survive arrow wounds than sword wounds. Lead poisoning cuts down that chance a bit.

Dear Urist McWeaver.

The next time you have a strange mood (never), please immediately move towards the section of the fortress I can lock down. You'd have made such a beautiful research object: now I'm going to have to hope you turn berserk so that I may at least get a vampire out of this.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: An aluminum artifact spear.

They do, however, puncture. I guess I neglected to mention the mechanisms needed to make the spear of GLITZTY JUSTICE oscillate in a menacing fashion. Those are important too.
I was thinking of it failing to puncture troll fur, but I suppose it doesn't have to be wielded by a dwarf.

Given how light the spear is, you can probably devise a hypersonic multi-collision minecart launcher for it. Will it blend at 16 tiles/step?

Silly me. Of course, always, the first question should be "how do I add minecarts to it", given how ridiculously often it works.

Heretic! The only proper question is "how do I add magma to it"! Return to the Church of the Firey Muck, ye many! Don't be tempted by the Cult of Carts' evil!
